    Thanks for all your vulnerability in sharing this, I probably wouldn't be able to take the criticism as well as you have lol! Cutting out unnecessary spending is a great start...personally I get all my workout clothes from Goodwill - SO much of that stuff is almost brand new! And I just sweat in it anyway!

    You were all over the place. It was a scattered mess. Not quite sure, maybe, idk, I think but we will see…I enjoyed every minute of it. This is exactly how I’ve spent the last week tryna get it together gathering and organizing and calculating and computing. It’s been a scattered mess over here but I’m getting a clearer and clearer picture. I won’t be able to work my plan full throttle until January but I’m a little more clear on what it will look like. I GENUINELY appreciate this video. Most of the others are extremely organized and doing a lot of neat teaching and well-packaged explaining. It felt unattainable for me because I’m just not THAT way but I was committed to figuring it out. Ur video was proof that the others started somewhere too but they didn’t show that part! 🙌🏽

    I think the best part about Dave Ramsey is that these are baby steps! Deciding to not buy another planner is a baby step and a huge one in the right direction! Also I think it’s great to keep the cleaning lady if it allows you more time w your son 😊

    You said something like - we don't have the poverty mindset and we aren’t willing to do rice and beans. Willing to sacrifice is not a poverty mindset, it is a goal and wealth mindset. Because sacrificing for the short term will be preparing you for long term wealth.

    This journey began as a debt journey; remember to remember that. You are currently upsetting the apple cart with some significant fiscal organization and reorganization (ie a written budget, the joint bill account) while at the same time eliminating a reasonable number of bill type expenses (some of the subscriptions, reducing the maid service, working towards paying some bills annually rather than monthly) and variable spending (planners, leggings, etc..). In this process you are returning money to the budget enabling it to be reallocated for other purposes. If you can, try to estimate the savings sum (the number of dollars returned to the budget from at least the bills) and line item that amount as "extra debt payment" in your written budget. All too often savings end up back in the general spending stream..

    For of all your office is gorgeous and I need that green built-in book case. 😍Love how real you are. I started budgeting in June and I still feel like I'm not teaching anyone through my videos how to budget. I'm just showing how I'm getting by lol. I bought the digital version of this workbook and I'm so tired of printing everything out. I wanted to buy a planner but that's also too much for me so I'm literally only printing out the calendars and the budget breakdown page. Nothing else. I have to make this process as easy as possible for me.

    Ive come back for some comments about meal planning. First, the meal planner is a tool you own, you use (or dont), and you make up the rules for. It is not a grid of unfulfilled shame nor a whip to be used when you don't follow it according to someone else's rules. AND exactly how you use it is likeky to change over time as yoir scheduke, time demands, eating emphasis change; at least if it is to remain a tool and not a rule. Persinally i like grids which are 7 across and 3 down. I like to leave a narrow column on the right to add needed grocery items; this makes 8 columns, 7 for meals and a narrow one which is one word wide. I like to add a narrow row across the bottom about 3 lines high; this translates into three meals plus some space for important preps like "meat from freezer", "dice onion 3 meals (worth)". When im coming back to meal planning and when im busy, i decide which meal is my focus meal and onjynoit an emohasis on that meal. In times past that has been breakfast becajse getting out the door was a chaotic hell. In timesmoast it jas been munch because we had 2 who had to take lunch and one where buying lunch was expensive; and yes i often cooked for lunch and leftmovers were dinner at that time. When i dont have pressing meals, i pick dinner. Often i begin planning only a couple of dinners per week and seldom 2 in a row except for my day(s) off. My schedule is the first priority; if you dont get home until 6PM, ypu dont want a meal thst takes 3 hours to get to the table. I ususally have stuff in the fridge, pantry, and freezer and i begin with the peridhables resdy to go bad. Then i write down the weekly sales and go from there. - When you're starting out, its a good thing yo hsve a quick fall back meal or few. My biggest meal plan buster is forgetting to take something out of the freezer. Evennif ypu only plannone meal a week, it is a start. Give yourself permission to only pre-plan 1 to three 3 days ahead too.

    You have to remember that some things might cost money, but the amount of time it saves you to pay to get them done is more valuable. Like the housekeeper. You have a young baby. If you only have the weekend to spend quality time as a family because you work, and you spend a whole day cleaning, you lose that time with your son and husband, which would be more valuable that what you pay. Unless your housekeeper costs are super high.

    Just an idea, but it looks like you have a bunch of different colored pens. You could do different categories in different colors that way if you wanted. Best of luck to you!

  • @terryhenderson424
    @terryhenderson4249 ай бұрын

    Consider creating a pen and paper list of the the things you need to buy, think you need to buy, and want to buy. An example would be a pack of highlighters. Maybe you come across a bag, pair of shoes, costume jewlery, planner, or some other thing you need, believe you need, or want. At the end of the next budgeting session (by week, paycheck, or by month) pull out and review your list then purposefully buy.

  • @terryhenderson424
    @terryhenderson4249 ай бұрын

    My predjudice is that in addition to "...probably 50 pairs of leggings..." you have categories of clothing, shoes, and accessories containing many items. Do it one step at a time be it a category, a shelf, or a drawer at at time but set things up so you will rotate through. For example, I have a number of folded knit type tops for which I have some sub-categories for BUT within each category I put the freshly laundered items at the bottom of the stack. This automatically puts the items I haven't recently worn to the top. As a result, I am much more likely to wear all of the clothing and not just that proverbial only 20% which many wear. If you are going to slow down on buying, rotating through the clothing makes it last in better shape more months/ years. When/ if/ as life in general and the assorted budgeting/ expense activities slow down look in line for some of the capsule wardrobe videos and instructions. If you can find them, look for something discussing how to assemble ensembles. More modern day capsule wardrobes center around 2 or 3 neutral colors and making the most outfit combinations out of the fewest number of pieces. Old school ensembles centered around a single color being present in most of the pieces and the more expensive ensembles (they were often named) also had a uniform print represented in many of the pieces but on different fabrics and used as the main or an accent. In general, ensembles have upto MUCH more color, often include a wider variety of pieces, amd can be assembled using disjointed pieces rather than buying from a collection. The point of this discussion is to every so often make and clear the bed, then begin laying out pieces to make outfits including shoes, bags, toppers, and accessories. This opens possibilities from what you already own. Often it can point out orphans which are individual pieces that don't go with anything else in the wardrobe; then its time to eliminate the orphan or buy coordinates specific to it. This exercise can also point out a hole in the wardrobe such that if you had a navy or dark blue jacket, you could create several more outfits. All together, this leads to fewer and more purposeful apparel purchases.

    Bruh😂 everytime I see one of these debt confessions/budgeting youtubers they're always spending all this money on notebooks, and highlighters.....you don't NEED a highlighter. Just put your categories into columns and rewrite it....or use excel so you can add up the categories faster (or use a free spreadsheet ap if you don't have excel from work). The point is, find ways to NOT spend money instead of finding ways to excuse spending.

    Please begin a debt journey journal. In that journal document the efforts, the goals, and achievements as you go along. For example, a date and your decision to buy no more planners, what you are doing related to your reduced Stsrbucks coffees, the commitment to buy no more leggings/ workout clothes. For example, in this video you have mentioned a number of things yoire going to look into, research, do, and more. A date entry and listing of these actions; maybe some space for added notes, future todo's, etc...

    Where to begin.... Try a single, just one, day as a complete no-spend day. Permit autodrafts and actual bill paying 'cause these are differently important. As a hedge, maybe take some cash but don't spend it unless you absolutely need it for gas to get home and back to the gas station, bus or train fare, etc... If you didn't pack a lunch, you do not get to buy lunch unless you have a health condition; drink some extra free water and do plan to eat as soon as you get home. Optionally, write down what, when, where you wanted to spend money on your no-spend day so you can remember. The first, single, no spend day is often an eye opener. Then, its time to decide what to do to address less spending such as maybe taking a lunch, taking a candy bar or snack, taking a soda or drink; don't forget for the trip out and then also for the trip home. Try the same a week later to see how that goes. Maybe decide to additionally to do no spend week(s, or a month) for targeted types like on-line buying (or even shopping and cart filling), books, clothes, etc...

    Yes, the dave ramsey rice and beans thing is for people in debt. I don't agree with all dave ramsey stuff but he's right about killing debt as fast as possible. The way I look at it, if you have debt at 25% interest EVERYTHING you buy is at 25% interest because every dollar you spend is a dollar you aren't paying down debt that accrues interest.

    Thanks for your honesty. I think you forgot to allocate for your son's new shoes and winter clothes. I found having an envelope for clothing so helpful when my kids were young. It builds up so fast, and then I would have $500 when they needed new winter clothes.When you have a better picture of your finances start your sinking funds and stick to those numbers. I found trying to keep track of my account and my husband's account way too much. So each paycheck I would take $500 for my envelopes and started building my sinking funds. It gave me limits for groceries and eating out,etc. If the envelope was empty we didn't eat out until the next Friday/stuffing day.

I see that you are struggling and overwhelmed. I think you are over complicating this. If you sell your car, do a no buy year (without tracking bills or expenses) make some extra money, if you can, and just throwing the money thats left at the end of the month towards debt, you would be better off without this much planing and busy work.

I was working on my budget while I was listening to your video :) I'm probably the only one, but I don't like the Dave Ramsey program although I do know it has worked for many.
