I don’t know how about you, however without traveling I sometimes fall into depression, because local waters can no longer cause an "explosion" of adrenaline. Finally life is too short to spend it in one place, isn't it?
In general, is budget fishing abroad realistic? I can confidently say that YES! All my recent trips including air tickets, food and accommodation (not always comfortable though) costed me 250-350 euros/dollars for several days. Depends, of course, on where do you live, but within a 1000 km radius there are for sure plenty of interesting places worth visiting!
This time I spent a dew days on Cyprus, namely on the Kavalassos dam and on the Mediterranean Sea. Regarding the coastal fishing you don’t need any license unless you want to fish from a boat, but on inland waters you should own a certain document of this type. It is not expensive for 2024, only 35 euros for all water eservoirss or 17 euros just for one of them, moreover, it is valid for the whole water and you can order it directly via the Internet, at this address:

Regarding fishing itself I used just a spinning rod, both on Kalavasos dam and for coastal fishing. At the end of the day I managed to catch a bass (unfortunately, only one), but the fishing at sea turned out to be wonderful thanks to amazing seabass and then in complete darkness - a toothy barracuda!
