Any suggestions for gauge that measures on fiberglass?

Thanks for the info; just bought this yesterday from Amazon for $54. As a DIY guy, hard to justify buying one of the high end pro brands for $600+. Just for fun, it would be helpful if you could pickup a used hood or body panel, color sand an area, and then measure the clear coat thickness. Burning through a clear coat is every detailers nightmare.

Is it useful to measure for wall paint thickness

I bought the exact same unit off of Amazon. within one year the probe stopped taking any readings. I would never buy another one.

A year isn’t exactly bad for a $50 gauge, considering some of them cost hundreds and will also inevitably break.

That’s because the vehicle has PPF on the front end

This proves how inaccurate it is. It measured 6 mil on the hood you moved it. One inch an it measured twelve mil. There's no way lol

It’s actually the PPF that caused the jump to 12 mil. It’s a pretty reliable unit!

No need calibrate wth???
