Okay for us that live in europe, yes Portugal is a good Alternative. However, many of us can't afford a long haul flight to the Phillipines. Better alternatives to the expensive European destinations are Albania, Montenegro, mainland Greece like the city of Volos, Morocco, etc.

Albania has some beautiful views, but nothing can prepare you for the amount of litter in the streets and on the beaches. We lived in Vlore for several months and traveled all throughout Albania and were sorely disappointed in the trash at our feet in a place with such potential.

I totally agree with you but the problem is that from my country Philippines are far away and the flight ticket costs too much even though the hotel and everything else is budget friendly

Our favorite is probably Portugal. It's relatively cheap, and you can always fly out to the Azores or Madeira if you want more of that island life.

Go to Madeira it’s super tourist friendly, everyone speaks English, driving around is a constant beautiful view since it’s got a lot of mountains. Also getting good food is a low price

I’d go to Portugal but my first country in Europe would be Italy due to me being part Italian and loving it there but yea Portugal sounds like it would be my second destination in Europe.

Definitely some great alternatives but as some of said already, depending where you’re originating from, the flight costs could add up. That still being the case, we plan to make stops in both at some point 😊

@@EthanDBG I have no degree. I took some online courses in sales and got a remote US based BDR job for a pharmaceutical type company. Its really easy to get into as BDRs are really needed (cold emails and follow up calls). Worked extra hours and used the sales tactics learned to land a sales role. Now I work remotely from wherever I want working through the week and spending weekends in a new place every few weeks. I find 3 or 4 weekends exploring is about right. Happy to recommend some books if you are interested

Absolutely love the Philippines but it’s not budget friendly because of the plane ticket. Cost more that flying to Europe. If you’re staying there a few months then it’s worth it because the housing is so cheap and expenses are low. If you’re going for a week then it doesn’t make a difference…

It’s lovely, if you like beaches , southern part is the best. If you like ethnic history , Northern part like Banaue Rice Terraces ( one of the 7th wonder of the world).

Good luck to anyone considering a trip to Portugal. Make sure you learn some phrases, and avoid booking hotels in Porto as they are expensive. Try Lisbon instead. it's great. Avoid tuk-tuks as they are scams
