BUDGET DIY SIEVE/BAKKI SHOWER FILTER SYSTEM

Спорт

Wanted an extra filter for polishing my koi pond so I built it myself and decided to share my ideas.
It's all fed from the Pond Skimmer via an external 8000 ltr/hour pump.
If your pond is at ground level you'd easily be able to stack these boxes three high, unfortunately my pond is above ground and I now need steps to maintain this filter but it's not a problem, it all comes to bits very quickly anyway.
The filter boxes came from Charlies.co.uk @ £12.99 each plus postage (bloody bargain), they're ideal and nice and tall for this project and they come with a secure clip on lid.

Solvent weld pipe fittings came from Screwfix and my local shop
www.discountleisureproducts.c...
as did the Alphagrog, yes, I had a spelling mistake on the vid.
Filter Foams were from Amazon (All Pond Solutions), not ultra thick but I needed a high flow rate anyway, mesh should take a fair bit of gunk out first.

Stainless Steel Collander knicked from out of the kitchen, :-).
Stainless Steel Mesh from The Mesh Company,
www.themeshcompany.com/produc...
You need the A2 size @ £15.99,
BEWARE, THIS STUFF IS RAZOR SHARP ON THE EDGES, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED, yes, I found this out very quickly.
You can cut the mesh easily with household scissors, best to do the cutrting after you've pop riveted the mesh to the pipe framework for a snug fit.
If you want a cheap pond skimmer too, I bought these OASE AquaSkim 20 spares from Pond Planet and just modified the pipework, works 'spot on' for under £25 posted.
an Oase AquaSkim 20 Float Ring for £6.39

an Oase AquaSkim 20 Filter Basket for £6.39
www.pond-planet.co.uk/pond-sp...
and an Oase AquaSkim 20 Top Telescopic Section for £7.02

Why pay Sky High when you can DIY.
Crack on with it then, :-),

Mesh was from The Mesh Company, if you're using pop rivets get the stainless steel type, alloy ones corrode. themeshcompany.com/product/stainless-steel-316-woven-wire-pond-filtration-mesh-0-263mm-hole-0-16mm-wire-60-lpi/
