BUDDY HOLLY "PEGGY SUE" 78 RPM RECORD PLAYED ON MY 1952 ROCKOLA SUPER ROCKET JUKEBOX

Музыка

Buddy Holly sings "Peggy Sue" on a 78 rpm Coral Record from 1957, played on my Rockola Super Rocket Jukebox from 1952. This jukebox has several animation units installed and plays both sides of the record using a reverse motor. Great sound, great color, enjoy!

It was worth the dropping the quarter in the slot just watching this thing work. The jukebox is a work of art. What a mechanical marvel. Thanks for sharing.

My very first record, bought in '56, I was 11. I still have it. It's on display in my living room in a RCA Victor 78 rpm record holder, made of bakelight (early plastic).

Looks like one I sold a few (quite a few actually) years back. Animation, green background, cream colored deck, reproduction decal.. Wouldn't be surprised if that was it. That's one I shouldn't have sold! If it was mine it was originally set up to play 45's and I converted it back. It had plastic buttons in the trays to hold the 45's centered and I had to add a plastic overlay to the motor spindle to bring it up to speed. I fine tuned it by sanding down a bit while it ran.

Love the vintage sound the jukebox gives off, especially how it’s slowed down. Somewhat more of a heavy sound.

It's playing slightly slow to avoid copyright infringement on youtube:) Otherwise It'd get taken down, unless the person who put it up holds all the publishing and copyrights to this song

@wurlitzergroup Hi, yes, pilasters are animated as is the small light on top (very tough to do this) and backlighting. It has a great sound! Thanks for your comment, I've seen your videos before and they are very informative.

Yes, you're right, the "A" sides play somewhat slow, but the "B" sides play faster, as this machine has a reversible motor. Don't know what else I can do except change the motor...all suggestions are welcomed!

@harristeeter1 check the voltage to the motor, voltage controls the speed of an electric motor assuming it has enough amps

@greenwichlirr Good ear! You're right, the "A" sides are slighly slower, and the "B" sides are slighly faster...don't know how to remedy this short of a new motor. Thanks for the comment.

The motor may just need cleaned and oiled. However, it's probably easier said than done in this situation. Just a tad slow but it was still really cool.

When they were lit up they were very pretty. Not so much turned off. LOL. Time to get in there and tear down the motor and clean and oil the bearings.

78s have a great sound quality because of the space between the grooves; Unfortunately, shellac is not good vinyl material.

78s have a good sound quality because of the width of the groove and higher speed. Shellac is not a good vinyl material? Vinyl is a plastic, surely you mean record. I don't see a problem with shellac. It lasts forever.
