I hope that some of the people here for SRV have had their eyes opened the mastery of Buddy who's always flown a little under the radar. Both insanely talented.

Watch Buddy smile when Stevie starts playing. I've seen Buddy several times myself. Stevie always paid tribute to Buddy, recording Buddy's songs (Mary Had A Little Lamb, Let Me Love You) announcing to audiences during shows that he liked Buddy asking the audience if they did to before launching into Leave My Little Girl Alone. Buddy didn't stay lost in obscurity once Stevie kicked the door open. And that's why Stevie was a musicians musician, he always reflected on his influences.

I was blessed to have seen Stevie Ray twice. First time was in Phoenix at the celebrity theater in 87. Greg Allman opened for SRV and Double Trouble. I had a 5th row aisle seat and when the stage rotated to my aisle I ran down to the stage and got right up to Stevie and screamed like a little girl at an Elvis concert. Stevie just grinned at me and then a giant of a man stepped between us and said no dancing in the aisle so I sat down. The second time I saw Stevie was in Tucson in 89 the day after my birthday, I didn't have as good of a seat but it was still an awesome concert and great birthday gift. The following year the day before my birthday I heard the horrible news that Stevie was gone. Died in my home state of Wisconsin and at a place where I probably skied down the hill. I went skiing many times at Alpine valley and saw a few concerts there also. I still mourn us losing him and the others who were on that helicopter. But I will never forget that night I first saw him and he gave me a big smile. RIP Stevie, thanks for the memories and your God given talent.

The important thing is Buddy shares that stage he brings out the best from others and never tries to upstage instead he shares his beautiful energy and it's obvious how much he enjoys collaborating

I met Buddy Guy back late 80s, maybe 1990 lol. He dedicated a song to me and came off the stage and dance a bit with me. So cool. Some do not believe me. But I remember. And he was just such a really cool guy. You just felt instantly comfortable talking to him. It was one of my highlights of my life! 😊 It was in this little bar in Chicago.

I like it that SRV comes out and immediately plays mostly in the style of Buddy Guy. As you fans of his know, a lot of what he played was derived from Albert King and Hendrix, but he could damn well play anything. I once heard him on NPR radio with an acoustic guitar (no amp) and played just beautifully. That's when I know I needed to see him live. Meanwhile Buddy is still playing and he is now 82 years old. No way I would have bet he would make it this far. I once saw him passed out behind the stage in a park and was did not make it up onto the stage while his brother (Phil) led the band for at least 20 minutes. And fantastically, 50 years later, he is still ripping. Long Live Buddy Guy and RIP Stevie Ray.

You missed that by a mile. When he first game out he was doing Albert King licks. But Stevie could do anybody.I saw Stevie in the Cobras, and he was the rythym guitar player.Denny Freeman played lead.Ive known all those guys almost 35 years. Also way back then, Jimmie played guitar in The Chessmen and Stevie played bass.Doyle Brahmhall was the drummer in that band. @@knifelyfe6565 Well, we will agree to disagree. Albert King never played like that. I saw him live -- did you? SRV does a few notes like Albert at the very beginning but rips far too many notes to be much like Albert -- or BB of course -- but a little more like Freddie King. I saw them all live. SRV's style here is way more frenetic, like Buddy's. BTW, I first saw Buddy in January of 1970 and have seen him many times since. I only saw SRV once in about 1987. Wish I saw him many more times.

@@billiam3367 Yes sir, I've seen Albert many times.Last time I saw Albert was at the Helena Blues Festival. We were parked next to his bus backstage. We sat at his pic-nic table the whole weekend with him.I do agree Stevie could do Buddy perfect and was obviously a huge influence. You could tell by the covers he did.Checkout Buddy's kid.Hes a great player too.As far as Freddie.I saw Freddie in the 70s in at Mother Blues among other places in Big D.I have Freddie's Fender Super Amp case he took to England to cut the "Burglar" record.I cant count the times I've seen Stevie and Jimmie. As great as Stevie was, Texas is full of guitar players as good or better.Stevie learned a lot from Denny Freeman.Theres all the Austin guys too.Bugs Henderson(rip Big D)Derek Obrien, Denny, Anson Funderburgh(Plano Tx), Alan Haynes(Houston), Smokin Joe Kubek(Dallas rip) and so many more Stevie loved. As far as either one of the Vaughan Brothers, you aren't even scratching the surface.
