Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, CPM member and ex CM of West Bengal
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is an Indian politician and was former member of the politburo of the Communist Party of India. He was the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 2011.
This interview was on winning the elections and defeating the Congress. Buddhadeb is asked if the election results were according to his expectations of not to which he says that though they have won the elections with a neck to neck battle, they expected more seats from areas like Behala and Ballygunge where they have traditional supporters.
Buddhadeb even goes ahead to say that congress has done a good job by accuiring 36 more seats as compared to the previous elections.
Throwing light on the socio economic conditions of Kolkata, he goes on to say that it is difficult to determine who voted againts them.

@@rikishi555 do you have any other valid reason except de-industrialization. As Buddhadev wanted to built industries and the residents of Singur, Nandigram, Haripur etc(the places where industries were planned to be set up) were against them. So, it was not Jyoti Basu who was against industries, they were some people WHO WERE NOT COMMUNISTS.

@@rikishi555 you mean Bengal was very rich before Jyoti Basu? During Congress regime in 60s by the GSDP, WB was in 8th position. Now it is in 6th position since 2011..instead of the Centre govt(be it Congress or BJP) keeping us devoid of our share(largest of all states)..about Rs. 53K Cr.

The difference in politics at that time was Leaders thought rationally, and he is such a honorable man said "Congress did well". Well obviously he took Congress as a political opponent, not as a terrorist organisation (speaking to what the BJP thinks today). And just look how casually he answers all the questions because he knew what he was doing was right and now there are no debates I think, there is only man ki baat😢

BJP doesn't think Congress as a terrorist organisation. Compare that to how many times a day congress calls out on RSS now. BJP and Congress have always been in political rivalry . Cpm Congress are the 2 friends who may have difference between them but united apparently against one entity. BjP and right wing. But there's the catch. BJP has always viewed it as the lone fighter against left wing populism in India
