Bucyrus Erie 1260-W Walking Dragline (Peabody Coal - Sinclair Surface Mine)

Ғылым және технология

This 36 cubic yard dragline worked alongside the Bucyrus Erie 3850-B shovel at Sinclair for the entire life of the mine! This 1260, along with the 1260 at River Queen Mine, is one of the earliest build 1260's in the world. It has the infamous BE1250-W style Machine House on it. It was a workhorse at the mine and is seen here in this video backfilling spoil as it reclaims land once stripped by the shovel. Bulldozers and "Pans" will come in after the dragline is done and smooth over the land then they will plant native grasses and trees on it. This video clip is a REAL piece of strip mining history so feel free to ask questions and leave comments!!! Once again, thank you for watching.
By the way....
Before anyone starts to question if this really is a "1260", it is. Just look at the boom on it. It's a "Triangular Style" boom which was unique to the 1260's during the 1960's when they came out with this model. Plus, I have photo documentation of its model and make.

@328DLCR I totally agree with you on that observation! That style of 1260 dragline was my favorite of all time! I wasn't a huge fan of the updated, rounded Machine House that came about later on with BE's 1260 draglines. This design was so raw and functional/mechanical looking! I love it!!!! One of my all time favorites for sure!

The frame at 8:29 of the operator trying to clean mud from the bucket is really a cool shot.

@Scentlessapprentice9 Hey, I'm glad you caught that!!! It is pretty cool isn't it! It's funny too how the oiler just appeared out of the belly of the dragline from nowhere. LOL!!!!

@apolloman45 Good question because I used to know, but for the life of me I don't remember. I've seen pictures of it being scrapped and I know a man that worked on the project. Next time I see him, I'll be sure and ask who it was that did the honors.
