BUCKINGHAM PALACE - ROYAL PALACES

BUCKINGHAM PALACE is a royal residence in London and the administrative headquarters of the MONARCH of the UNITED KINGDOM.
The palace is at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality.
It has been a focal point for the BRITISH people at times of national rejoicing and mourning.
The Palace was built for the DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years.
KING GEORGE III bought it in 1761, as a private residence for his wife, the QUEEN CHARLOTTE.
Buckingham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch on the accession of QUEEN VICTORIA in 1837.
Many smaller reception rooms are furnished in the CHINESE REGENCY style.
The palace has 775 rooms, and the garden is the largest private garden in London.
The palace also houses their offices, and is the workplace of more than 800 people.
The KING conducts official business at Buckingham Palace, including weekly meetings with the PRIME MINISTER.
The palace is owned by the reigning monarch, but it isn’t part of the monarch's personal property.
The UK GOVERNMENT is responsible for maintaining the palace, in exchange for the profits made by the CROWN ESTATE.
Buckingham Palace is a symbol and home of the BRITISH MONARCHY, an art gallery and a tourist attraction.
Every year, some 50,000 invited guests are entertained at GARDEN PARTIES, RECEPTIONS, AUDIENCES and BANQUETS.
The forecourt of Buckingham Palace is used for the CHANGING OF THE GUARD, a major ceremony and tourist attraction.
VICTORIA MEMORIAL, a monument dedicated to Queen Victoria, is located in front of Buckingham Palace.
The Memorial was planned by KING EDWARD VII as a tribute to his mother and her reign, the Queen Victoria, who ruled the BRITISH EMPIRE between 1837 and her death in 1901.
Designed in 1901, it was unveiled on 16 May 1911, though it was not completed until 1924.
The Memorial stands in front of Buckingham Palace and the Queen Victoria’s statue facing the boulevard ‘THE MALL’ towards TRAFALGAR SQUARE.
The central pylon of the memorial, and individual statues is in white marble and gilt bronze.
The Memorial weighs 2,300 tonnes and has a diameter of 32 meters.
You can't miss the Queen Victoria Memorial if you are visiting Buckingham Palace.
A white marble surround with stairs that invite you to have a seat while admiring the regalia that, our ancestors paid for in one way or another.
Victoria’s statue is facing the boulevard ‘The Mall’, towards Trafalgar Square.
Viewers get an insight of CHANGING THE GUARD
I wish you a pleasant viewing.

Buckingham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch on the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837. It is a real honour and privilege for my husband and I to be nominated to attend the Royal Garden party at Buckingham Palace,an event that is part of British history, to be amongst and to celebrate with so many other inspirational people from across the country and the world. Royal garden parties are an exclusive event held every year, an opportunity for the Royal Family to acknowledge and thank people in the UK and theCommonwealth who have gone above and beyond in one way or another, serving the domain.
