For those interested what the car ran for E.T., it was running almost 6 flat in the 1/8th mile.

I think that thing is kickass! If my dad were alive he'd think it's kickass too, big Ford guy.

Sweet car, well done. Love the old Fairlanes. I live in Central CA and try to make it out the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion in the fall when I can. There typically are several Thunderbolts that attend. They are awesome to check out and watch run.

Most young people don't even know about these falcons and fairlanes They were some of the first muscle cars the 289 hipos were fast runners

I first car was a 64 Fairlane sport coup, I painted my self,apolsterd it my self,fixed it up keapt her clean, had a289 cu in. Had alot of fun ,I Never should have sold her

@@AverageJoeHotRodShow lol, I always have dreams with my Fairlane, that I'm driving it somewhere, I guess it because it was my first car, and I learned more about being a mechanic,and I did so much to her, took a collage course after my active duty in the military in auto body and paint and auto electric

jan amundsen well I have quite a few Fords on other episodes you can check out. The early stuff is kinda rough but the cara and stories are cool

The Lumina/Beretta & the Firebird appeared to be Pro Stock cars . . . meaning his ‘Super’ Stock Fairlane ‘Bolt ran pretty well. Drivetrain does seem a bit long-legged, evidenced by how well he kept up with that Lumina/Beretta towards the end of the pass.

Cool car I've have had more than 40. 64 Fairlane,s drag raced a 289 9000 rph old super stock motor. Ran 7.90,s in the 1/8 Mile drive it there 25 miles to the track.

Looks fantastic. Wondering if it's has the full fiberglass front end, or just a lift off fiberglass hood. Bumpers look like the stock metal ones which I would remove for fiberglass ones all to save weight. Otherwise, the car looks great. Sorry hearing about the engine issue. Good luck on getting it back on the track.

Hemi 300C he cut more weight out this winter I know. He also threw on some nitrous to speed it up. If I recall the fenders were still steel. Thanks for watching!

@@AverageJoeHotRodShow: The hood is still steel ... you can tell that by the sound of the hood pin clips hitting the hood surface as he removed the hood.

The thunderbolt spanked the 64 dodge hemi savoy mopar no power, look that up dodge boys.

Fred C it runs right at 6 flat in the 1/8th mile. He lightened the car more and put a small nitrous kit on it over winter so I expect it to be in the 5.70’s or 5.80’s this year. Thanks for warning!

Dannyjoe81 1996mustanggt oh no, not that faat. A car running that fast in the 1/8th mile would be in the 4’s. Our family car for instance went 5.36 at 138mph in the 1/8th.

@@AverageJoeHotRodShow I hope he also got around to shodding the wheels with adequate rubber. We can't know what the car can do without proper tires. Couldn't ya hear those little street slicks slipping all the way down the track?

With all the goodies he has in that car,it,seems to me it's a little slow,seeing it get beat by those two other cars,when i was expecting it to be the other way around.

Had a 66 galaxie 500 r code back in 98 got rid of it in 2000. Big regret. Was a dumb young punk kid back then.

Dannyjoe81 1996mustanggt yeah you would probably need deep pockets or lots of time to bring it back. I tracked down my mom’s first car (66 LeMans with a 421 swap) and found it in much the same sad state. So I passed on snagging it.

@@AverageJoeHotRodShow yeah the frame rails and all is probably gone. I had fun with it when I had it. I hurt a lot of rich kids feelings in it the new 4.6 mustang gts couldn't hang with it z 28s they got me off of the line as it would just blow the tires off. But once I got in 3rd I went by them like they was tied to a stump.

Dannyjoe81 1996mustanggt I did much the same in my Nova back in the day. Those were fun times to be a broke hot rodding kid.

I love this car I have a 68 fastback mustang and a 1968 440 dart with duel quad tunnel ram have had many cars but never had a 64 fairlane or a 66 fairlane but I have always wanted one. When I get one I want a daily driver with ac and fuel injection all the modern stuff but look like a old thunderbolt drag car that was drug out of a field weathered and believable. Probably do it like the Taska ford. Can’t wait thanks for vid

The 289 hipo cars were certainly screamers. My father raced against them in his 57 Fuelie Bel Air back then.
