Thankfully, that slippery mud slide caused no harm to beast, man or wagon. The team will race again the next day.
That takes skill AND nerves !!!!

It takes a lot of work and time to train the horses and keep them fit in addition to the wagons and harnesses. A lot different than NASCAR right? 😊
Cool races and Lots of fun !1 But VERY DANGEROUS !!! Driving a team is NOT an easy thing to do !!!
Only in America. Cruelty to the ponies. If mine fell, I'd check immediately for injuries

Imagine being on a cattle drive during the 1860s and 70s on the Great Plains. A time of hostile natives, bandits, rustlers and even enemy troops during the Civil War. The most valuable equipment were the wagons and contents in the outfit. So load 'em up and take off with an outrider to guide the best path for the wagons and spot any dangers ahead. The cowpokes are left behind to fight off the attackers and try to keep the herd from stampeding off. Time isn't the only factor to win these races. The wagon must be loaded after the starting gun is fired and must not lose the load during the race. The outrider has to mount the horse and finish the race ahead of the team wagon in order to have a qualified race with no penalties.

@DustyReinsStories only problem is... this is NOT 1860's or 70's great plains. This is so outdated and cruel to the horses and absolutely unnecessary! I didn't see once any riders jump off and check their "beloved" horses for injuries! Maybe it's time you all started living in the modern world and treating your horses with a little respect, which they have undoubtedly earned.

Just because there were no reports, that doesn’t mean there were no injuries. I see many injuries documented in the video. This is abuse!

@@jenniferrevilla5298 99% of the time there veterinarian and farrier on site these ponies get better care than riding horses. Most people board their horse or pony and see it once or twice a week.

It rained about three inches on the ranch the day before and several areas of the pasture was very muddy. So the horses lost their footing when slowing down and thankfully recovered with no apparent consequences to man, wagon, or beast. Amazing.

I am deeply shocked by these pictures I see here! This is animal cruelty on a very large scale!!!!! Luckily there are no such events in Germany!!!!!! Anyone who hits their horse with the driving lines should have the lines hit across the face once so that they know how such a horse feels!!! I've been a carriage driver for 40 YEARS, something like that offends me, and I feel great Pity for the horses!!!!! JUST HORRIBLE!!!🫣🫣🫣🫢🫢🫢🫢🤮🤮

Everything dealing with animals is a sport. Or competition in one way or other. People should start hollering abuse when is a wrestling or boxing match. Hockey and football games. There is lots of abuse. But it is sport.

This is just out right dangerious unnessasery and crule to the animals...should be banned you can see how risky this is...humans can do what ever they want but leave the animals out of it.

I couldn't watch to the end. Why do people have to use animals for their entertainment 😢 I can understand working with the animals but this was just do unnessasery and abuse for the horses 🤬

Normalmente cuando andas en así se anda despacio pueden terminar mal tanto el caballo como la persona pero no le pueden hacer eso a un animal ya es mucho andarlo solo con la montura, silla o recado

Horsemanship had nothing to do with the four inches of rain two days prior. Did you not see the mud flying up? I just wanted to let you know that no one is to blame here. No living thing nor equipment was harmed or damaged which is a remarkable thing to consider here.
