I had the model kit Viper WITH working missile launcher. Another kid down the block had a Starfighter. We had a lot of fun. Neither of us knew the Starfighter was a rejected Viper design. Anyway, the model kit Viper missile fired one time only. The projectile banged into the wall across the room and was never found. Dangerous? Hell yes. Even the model kit was lethal. But so was my Huffy dirt bike.

The very best "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA" figure was part of the 2nd run, which NEVER made it to most stores-- the "Lucifer" robot. Since "Lucifer" was voiced by Jonathan Harris, I like to display it next to the "LOST IN SPACE" Robot so they can get on each other's nerves.

I had to stop the video after the INTRO. I NEEDED to subscribe. Wow. I had some of the toys in your intro. Unfortunately as we moved stuff was lost, thrown out, stolen. So all I have now are memories and a few trinkets. But your channel can re-unite me with some old toys I may have forgotten about. This is my first time here and for that I AM SORRY. I have NO CLUE why you weren't in my recommendation section? Well I'm here now at least. If you guys are married or "together" you have found the HOLY GRAIL. Not a toy but someone who loves these unique and unusual hobby items like you. I have been blasted by women for my collections. Now I'm sort of a Motley Crue/Metallica meets Star Wars/Revenge of the Nerds. People see a guy with long hair, that played guitar and jams out, loves Seek and Destroy(Metallica) on volume level 9 to have a collection of, well, ah...other things. Not Star Wars figures, Marvel, SHFiguarts, Mafex, Hasblo, and my favorites....... HOT WHEELS. So if you found a person who shares your passion for toys, collecting, and hunting, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! You have found the ULTIMATE the best thing in the world. You found your soulmate in a hobby where that can be VERY TOUGH. To have and enjoy a hobby is fun and amazing but to have it and be able to share it with another person who loves it as much as you do. AND LOVES YOU just as much. Again CONGRATULATIONS. HAPPY THANKSGIVING from the COLD North. Brrrr. It could be worse...2 weeks ago we had -10 wind chill already. Yeah it SUCKS. But time to get engulfed in retro toy bliss. Might have to binge watch a few episodes today. I used to have a Mego set, oh man had to be from like 74, 75 or so. It was the Planet of the Apes playset with the figures. I can't remember the names of all of them. But one of the big baddies had a horse and if I remember right he was in charge of the Army. He had a leather type helmet or hat thing with a design on the forehead. There was Zeus, and the other apes. Also a couple of NASA astronauts. If you haven't done those I'd LOVE to see one. If you have I'll find it. Mego were my favorites back in the 70's. I WISH I still had even 10% of my Mego collection. Especially the limited versions of Kid-Flash, Aqua-Lad, there were 2 more but I cant remember them off hand. Conan, Thor, Hulk, Star Trek, and as I said Planet of the Apes. So many different "properties". DC, Marvel. It was a GREAT time to be a kid. So this channel will be awesome. I had a couple Buck Rogers figures. Twiggy was one. I did have Battlestar Galactica toys. I could afford both. So Buck kinda lost. Cylons looked so cool that Buck never had a chance. Erin Grey was sooo hot though. But thats a COMPLETELY different story. Anyway sorry for the LONG A** comment but I really enjoy retro toys and all the memories they bring back. While I had a few not so good memories there were enough good ones to make this channel such a treat to watch. THANK YOU. And please keep up the retro toys.

I also had a Buck Rogers dress up kit that came with the helmet, a belt and the gun. This might have been a UK only thing. It was from Argos for sure.

George Lea I had that one too! I think it had a metal bar between the prongs at the front too, probably for some over zealous child safety reason. I was in the UK, was the corgi one a UK only thing, or other countries too?

Me too. I tried my damndest to get that metal bar off the laser cannons!

I begged my Mom to buy me a Buck Rogers figure -because- there was a holster for his gun... I cried and had a total meltdown when I got the figure and discovered the gun wasn't removable.

I had the command center but it never saw Buck Rogers action it was a stand in for G.I. Joe Headquarters as I was never able to get it as a kid. I have fond memories of that cheap playset. Another great video, thanks!

You probably have heard this before but I would actually like to see a new line of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century toys based on this series, but now with the quality the Star Wars toys got in the last two decades.

That was incredible! I’ve always wanted to see the vehicles and playset up close but I’d be too scared to breathe anywhere near them.. I had no idea they were that thin and delicate. They are really wonderful toys though and can see why they hold a lot of love from collectors..

While I certainly had all the _Star Wars_ figures I could get, my favorite figures were some of the _Buck Rogers_ and _Black Hole_ figures. Before _Star Wars_ toys, _Micronauts_ were *THE* thing for me. And the articulation (and yes, even the face sculpts) were preferred over most of my _Star Wars_ figures. I found them _way_ more fun to play with. I especially liked the Draconian Emperor. His face and outfit. But, I never played with them *as* _Buck Rogers_ and _Black Hole_ characters. As for the guns. . .I actually trimmed the hand grip on some _Star Wars_ guns so they would fit in the hands of the *Mego* figures. Thanks for the video.

Finally got to see part 2. Thank you. It is a shame that a potentially great show got cheapened down to next to nothing. Especially in the toy line.

I had Buck and Twiki. Wanted the Starfighter. I think i only saw the toys for a very short period in stores. Explains why i didn't get many other figures. A friend of mine had Killer Kane and the Draconian fighter. So this line joined my secondary action figure collection consisting of Motion Picture Kirk, Black Hole Vincent, BSG Viper and Legend of the Lone Ranger, Lone Ranger. The rest was all Star Wars.

I have been binging on this channel for about 2 hours. You just reminded me of some Buck Rogers toys I TOTALLY forgot I had as a child. You just gained a Subscriber ✊🏾

Excellent review, thanks! I loved Buck Rogers as a kid so I DO pay tribute with my Buck, Twiki & 7" mussle firing Corgi diecast starfighter!

I'm 48 today. So when Buck Rogers was out I was in the target audience for the toy line. I had the Starfighter, Buck and Twiki. I can't remember if I had Wilma, but I know I didn't have any of the other characters. The Starfighter and Buck are long gone, but I still have Twiki. Like many kids the Star Wars line was my main focus, and I still have my complete collection of Star Wars toys. I wish I could say the same for my Starfighter. I really did love that ship.

Just introduced my 11 year old to Buck Rodgers thanks to your videos.

I remember having to make that toy aisles decision, Star Wars or Buck Rogers. Money was short and I had to choose where my loyalties lied in the toy world. I absolutely loved the show but couldn't commit financially to the toys. Another great episode. You really do stick to the entertainment motto of keep them wanting. Your episodes are always concise and so well edited - they remind me very much of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Jerry took great pride in the editing process and I think I remember Michael stating he does as well, with RB. Excellent.

I had the Corgi Starfighter vehicles, I do not remember any action figures released in France.

This is the first Retroblasting video I saw and immediately I was hooked!

Did have the Star Searcher vehicle - even though I was a die hard Micronauts toy lover. But I specifically remember that toy I owned having the Micronauts art on one side, with the Buck Rogers toy art on the other side!

Some neighborhood kids had the remnants of the Starfighter in their toybox when I was young. Pretty much just the main shell. I remember digging and maybe finding the canopy and one thruster. Always thought it looked neat, and wanted to play with it in its glory. As it was we usually used it for a speedboat attack craft for Joe.

You are so lucky and fortunate to have those in your possession.

Ironically, "BUCK ROGERS" and "THE BLACK HOLE" were the only 2 toy lines from that era I was ever able to get COMPLETE sets of the figures! My "BUCK ROGERS" fighter is STILL in perfect shape sitting on display on top of one of my stereo speakers... across the room from the 18" "ALIEN" on the other speaker.

Wow just memorable stuff. It will be interesting to see if this ever gets relaunched the way the old series looked but of course better articulation and other accessories

I have only one memory of seeing them in a store. I looked them over briefly, then took home a Star Wars figure. Minor regret only. I'll live.

I had most of the Buck Rogers figures as a kid, still have my Twikki somewhere (with Muffit, Vincent, and of course my astromechs), but I don't remember the playset at all. I think I would have converted it to a Cloud City playset if I had owned it was it looks very close to the endless playsets I'd make it of the styrofoam box inserts that any appliance spots with. I was excited when my parents or Grandma got a new microwave or air conditioner add it meant new planet playset! Of course Hoth was way over represented since white styrofoam is an excellent stand in for a snow covered ice world, but with a few well placed stickers, reused XWing guns, lite Brite pegs, wire and pretty much any Doodad I'd whip up a Star Wars playset in no time! And I think I had as much fun making those and I did playing with the figures. Good times, how I miss thee!

I had Star Wars figures (Luke, Darth Vader, Boba Feet, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Death Star Droid and Storm-trooper). I had Micronauts (Baron Karza and Biotron). I didn't even know about the Buck Roger's figures. The only back in the day item I still have to this day is the Epoch Galaxy II electronic game.

I loved the show but after it ended, I lost interest in the few Buck Rogers figures I had, so Draconian Warrior and Tigerman became “bounty hunters” with my Star Wars figures or mercenaries for Cobra to battle my GI Joes.

I grew up in southern Illinois not far from Scott Air Force Base. None of the stores we went to ever had Buckrogers toys. Never even knew they existed til I was an adult pursuing my future. Now that I'm retired I see the amazing reproductions that are scaled off the originals and the scaled up fan made versions. I hope to put some $$ aside and order these wonderful creations. So I can enjoy my childhood as an adult in retirement.

The thumbs probably broke off thanks to trying to force Star Wars action figure weapons in their hands. Otherwise there would be no reason for the thumbs to break imho.

Wow I never even knew they made Buck Rogers toys... I never had any action figures at all, course being born in '71 I was probly a little old for them... My cousin had the X-wing and TIE advance, and a Space 1999 Eagle. Most of our toys were either farm toys (Ertl) or the cheap plastic generic toys from TG&Y or Bottom Dollar... Those are really cool thanks for sharing! OL J R

The ONLY Buck Rogers toy I had as a kid (or ever), was Twiki. I wish I knew what happened to him!

As a late Gen X'er, I didn't experience this show when it was first released but instead got to watch it on constant syndication in the mid 80s. By that time the toys were gone from any shelves :(

I had all the figures and the two star fighters from this line as a kid. Tiger Man was my favorite of the figures. I really loved the Draconian Starfighter as well.

As a child fan of the first season, I ended up with the Buck and Wilma figures, and the scope ship. Somewhere I also ended up with a copy of the ship from Space 1999. It was the same scale as Star Wars ships and made a great modular vessel for a large number of figures.

Way back in the day I remember kids playing with the BSG toys, mainly the Cylon Raider and Star Wars toys instead of the Buck Rogers stuff but I did see the Earth Directorate Starfighter at a friend-of-a-friend's house, it was pretty well played with and probably buried in a landfill somewhere today.

I had both the projectile Cylon Raider and Colonial Viper And I didn’t die. I forgot how the Buck Rogers Toys were, I had some of the figures but never any of the vehicles or the playset. I always towards the Star Wars ones because our family didn’t have a lot of money so my Mom couldn’t buy us a whole lot. But if did I would’ve bought the Draconian fighter or EDD Starfighter. Great review as always and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I remember having Buck and Twiki when I was a kid. I remember Buck's knees and elbows being loose. Couple that with no weapons (I did try to pry his gun off), meant I ended up playing more with Twiki who would pal around with my C3P0 and R2D2.

I remember getting the Draconian Marauder for Christmas in either 1979 or 1980. I didn't have any of the figures, so I put Hammerhead from Star Wars in there. I got the Rebel Snowspeeder the following Christmas and always thought how much it looked like the Buck Rogers Starfighter.

I love the BR line. As a kid, I had Twiki. My Mom took me to see Star Trek. After the movie we walked through a department store and was offered a Star Trek figure from the movie, I adamantly picked Twiki from they racks next to the Trek stuff. Even though my Twiki broke and was repeatedly glued together, I still played with him for years. Even when he was beyond fixing, he was still a favorite. I also had a really cheap solid white plastic space fighter. The BR fighter is still in my top ten (prob top 5 if I really think about it) or space fighter designs. At the moment I have a Buck and a Draconian Warrior. I really want a Twiki and a space fighter. I feel this is a line that deserves a revisit. Some company that buys up old licenses for fans and makes new toys should get a hold of it. Would be tricky though, since they would need both the Buck Rogers license and the license for the TV series designs. Now a Buck Rogers joke. What is Twiki's favorite crafting hobby? I actually watch your videos multiple times. They’re enjoyable to re-watch. I’m not a fan of some properties like Buck Rogers but I watch them because they’re presented well.

My brother and I had Buck and Twiki. Don't think we got any of the vehicles in this side of the Atlantic. We also had Mego's 12" scale Buck Rogers, and an appropriately sized Twiki. Buck looked a bit like the actor if you squinted - but he was made out of a hard, soapy plastic. The legs always broke at the knee, and he couldn't really hold his blaster. The detail on Twiki was fantastic, but for some reason, had less articulation than the 3.5" scale version. His arms only swivelled at the shoulders, but he did have sprung thumbs on his hands, so he could grip very thin items. Like, paper thin. But for some reason, Mego made the insane decision to make Twiki clockwork. So, his legs were largely immobile if you were just playing with him as a figure. But because they were clockwork, they were constructed so only the outer side of his legs were there. And the feet had to have sprues to keep him steady while he walked. If he wasn't walking, he'd be perpetually leaning over to one side, as one leg would always be slightly higher than the other from the clockwork walk mechanism. I did have the die-cast Thunderfighter from Corgi, which again came in two scales. There was a larger, very detailed fighter, which had firing missiles (there didn't seem to be a problem with that in the UK, as I had several toys with firing missiles, including the Dinky Enterprise and Klingon Battlecruiser, a Bstman TV series Batmobile, some sort of Dinky Armored Personnel Carrier, and most bizzarely, the Daily Planet helicopter from Superman the Movie); and a smaller version about the size of a Matchbox or Hot wheels car. Both versions of the Corgi Thunderfighter had retractable yellow wings (spring loaded on the larger version), with blue engine pods. But, annoyingly, there was a solid metal bar that connected the two gun emplacements. I can see why - they were tapered metal spikes, which were just the right distance apart to go into both your eyes. But they could have simply made those from something less dangeous, like plastic, or rubber, with rounded ends. I wouldn't have minded that - but the solution Corgi vans up with was unsatisfactory to me. Incidentally, Mego used the same articulation on several of their 3.5" figure ranges, including CHiPS, and The Black Hole. Both those lines, along with the Star Trek the Motion Picture range, used the same technique for the faces. I didn't mind the lack of paint on those, because the likenesses were often so good to the actors.

@@paulwalsh2344 Yeah, but those figures all suffered from a common problem - the thumbs were very weak. So, if you placed an accessory in their hand, you'd weaken the thumb every time, until it snapped. I had a complete set of the A-Team figures. Every one of them ended up with a broken thumb, so they couldn't hold their weapons anymore - which is pretty useless when it's the A-Team. G.I. Joe (or Action Force, as it was over here) had much more pliable thumbs on their O-ring figures, as you could put guns, etc in their hands multiple times without issue. Hasbro seemed to use a completely different plastic from Mego. Not sure what Galoob used. And Kenner's Star Wars line was different again. Yeah, they had limited articulation (and I love a well articulated action figure), but they were durable. No split O-rings, broken hands. My Star Wars figures are all still intact. None of my Mego figures are. The only other figures I own that are even more durable are Fisher Price's Adventure People. So, in this instance, I'll take durability over posablility every time. 😉 Now, if only Kenner could have built the Star Wars vehicles to be as durable as Fisher Price's Adventure People vehicles. That would have been sweet!

@RetroBlasting OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE!!! I never had any Buck Toys except a couple of Matchbox Die Casts of the Starfighter... They were cool - Pop out wings... But my Neighbour had the Marauder, And Bucks Star Fighter... Along with a large collection of Models from the Battlestar Galactica Line... YES MODELS... Old Airfix / Revell Kits!!! I have always wondered what he did with is old collection of Toys, as I am sure that some of teh things he had - He was sitting on a small fortune even though many were broken or damaged in some way...

Over in the UK I recall seeing two sizes of diecast starfighter (which were pretty good), but never the figures etc.

Brilliant memories,sadly parents could not afford the toys when came out.

That sweet, sweet Buck Rogers Starfighter... I don't even remember it as a kid, but I recall the Mego / Mattel figures for the 'B' lines would usually be present (one or two) in people's action figure collections. However, in terms of accessories, I'm not sure it was a bad idea for Mego to have them without because... three words - repeat after me: Mego. Broken. Thumbs. The most common Buck Rogers toy in the UK was the Corgi die cast Starfighter - I think every other kid had one of those, and because they were so durable they always survived (albeit without missiles) being handed down. The Buck Rogers Starfighter, the Battlestar Galactica ships, the Star Wars ships - it really was the golden age of spaceship design...

The only Buck Rogers action figure I had is the large size 12 inch one and the laser pistol was removable.

Great work guys, I stumbled onto this channel, I love your entertaining description of build and history of these toys. I recall having a die cast star fighter from corgi, these were at the low end of die cast quality as well.

Loved the Buck Rogers tv series. Never got the toys, not in any local stores. Still, pretty cool!

All the time when you were featuring a cameo of the Buck Rogers action figure in your other videos, I thought that the face details were all worn out.

I heard from another Toy Reviewer that Mego was going to recycle a lot of their early Star Trek merchandise for this line. That included those communicator Walkie Talkies, and that Mission to Gamma Six playset that was going to be re-released as The Draconian Cobra.

Totally forgot about this toy line. I loved the TV show as a kid. But I only had the Twiki figure.

Today I learned that my childhood mystery GI Joe figure that I couldn't find listed or identifiable *anywhere* in GI Joe lore was actually a "Draconian Warrior" from Buck Rodgers. Amazing. I still had a (lengthy) made-up backstory for him when I was a kid. I thought he was a samurai. It's amazing that these figures didn't come with any accessories, but the Draconian Warrior could hold weapons in both hands. The right worked much better than the left, but the left could still hold stuff. He couldn't dual-wield as good as (other?) GI Joes though.

I had the Corgi version of the star fighter. It had 2 statue type figures (Buck and Twiki) and fires projectiles! I believe the wings also retracted, were spring loaded and could be opened by a button. There was also a mini star fighter with a manual mechanism for the wings. Google “corgi buck rogers starfighter” there are tonnes of hits.

I really like part 1 and 2 of this series you have done. I only own Twiki myself. He is an awesome action figure.👍

I wanted the Command Center as a kid to use with my Star Wars figures because Kenner - inexplicably - did not produce a Rebel base (or any Rebel soldiers, an even more-baffling decision) in conjunction with the first film. Sadly, however, I never saw it on toy shelves.

Great channel, been watching several of yours, loved your series on short lived cartoons and I just subscribed. I had the Buck, Wilma, Princess Ardala (sp?), and Tiger Man. I eventually gave them to my nephew. If they ever do a nostalgia series in 6" size I would collect them again.

This is a great video! I had the Draconian Marauder as a kid and only glimpsed the Starfighter in another kid's collection back in 1980-81. Toy Envy! I recently scored my first Starfighter in a used bookstore $30. That was fun to clean up. A proper hydrogen peroxide bath was given. Had to fabricate the lower wings with 3d printing and styrene plating. Came out fairly close to the original. Now I'm on the hunt to collect all 9 Buck Rogers figures. I am amazed at the articulation of these guys. My son was even intrigued by it. Overall, I think with the ships being closer to scale and the quality of the figures, these were better than the Star Wars line of the time. The 2nd season of Buck Rogers was just boring in my memory and interest feel off.

I bought just about everything made in the 3.75 scale to fill in the holes in Kenner's Star Wars collection. I used the Buck Rogers Command Center as my rebel base since Kenner never really made a standard base for the heroes. Strangely, I didn't have the main Star Fighter or the Draconian Maurader but I used the Land Rover with my SW figures all the time. I also had the Laser Scope Fighter but I used it as a medical station, not a vehicle. Of course, I had all the Buck Rogers figures and used them as various allies and villains in my SW universe. I did the same thing with the Battlestar Galactica figures, where I used Starbuck as Wedge and Adama as General Dodonna.

One of the best channels/shows on KZread. My only complaint is I wish your episodes were longer, but that's not a bad thing. I had a broken Draconian fighter as a kid that we used as an extra X-Wing in our Star Wars battles. It took a little imagination but has similar lines when the X-wing's wings (or S-foil) are closed. Years later I kit bashed it for an original model for one of my homemade sci-fi shorts. I'd love to show a picture but I can't on KZread. Thanks for the memories man. Keep it up. Oh, one last thing. You guys ever attend conventions and do talks in Michigan? Would be nice to have you here. Take care.

Hah! Reminds me of when I learned it was better to tel the truth when I broke something rather than hide it. I busted the rubber band in buck Rogers and tried to hide him in the freezer. Not the smartest move by my five year old self. Dad was angry and told me I would not have been punished at all if I had just went and told him I had broken Buck instead of trying to hide it from my parents.

I got the figures for Christmas circa '79? They were in 4 figure packs from the JC Penny catalog. The goods in one and the bad guys in another. Draco was included instead of Ardella. I remember the packaging was just brown cardboard. No artwork at all. I however did not care I was totally sucked in to the world of Buck Rogers. Looking back now the faces could look better but I loved the articulation. I never got any of the ships and never remember seeing them in stores in my home state of Maine. Huge fan of this show and still hoping for a comeback.

Worth waiting for guys. Thanks. I have all the figs including a carded Killer Kane (say that five times fast) and thought I wanted the vehicles until I watched this video. I can better enjoy them in your collection. You're right -- more of a niche collection to this old Gen X'er.

Damn, with so many 'Toy Revivals' these days, now I'm wishing for a new line of 6" Buck Rogers figures! Buck, Twiki, Wilma with hair down, Princess Ardala, and Hawk for the first Wave. Kane, Tiger Man, Draconian, Col. Gordon, and Earth pilot for Wave 2. Do them in Star Wars Black style, with weapons. I would buy them. Probably not enough interest though. But who knows. Lots of lines are coming back.

I so missed out on the Buck Roger's toys. I had a Buck and a Twiki.

i don't know if they were released in the States but in both the fighters were released as diecast models in the UK,i had the Starfighter,its interesting to note that the front spikes were joined by quite a thick bridge of diecast thus ensuring that no children improvised a quite nasty double puncture weapon from it

I still have the Star Fighter but with repro fins, nose cones and engine covers. I got this for Christmas 1977-78? What’s funny is that my parents got me the battle star galactica figure Lt Starbuck as the pilot. I thought that I had the Buck Rogers figure for years 😑
