Sculling with different spoon shapes….can’t be a good idea!
Am I right that both guys entered Diamonds as well? We know they are great elite scullers…..but surely even at Henley elite level that is likely to end in disappointment …..as appears to have been the case?

The lightweights rowed well in the beginning because they applied power quickly at the catch. Their release was quick and controlled as well. The Heavyweight 2× was never really out of the race. What I noticed is that the Lightweights boat was sitting low in the water. The boat was not buoyant enough for them.
Sculling with different spoon shapes….can’t be a good idea!

You are right - it looks like Free and Buchan each used the oars that they were training with in their singles preparation.
