Since we're on the topic about BFree dissing the rappers. Just a bit of the rappers background. Rap Monster started off with his friends from a underground group called DaeNamHyup (DNH) and some of them were supposed to be in BTS but left because they didn't like the idol contract. They are very supportive even though they didn't end up debuting as idols as well. Suga had a tough time cuz everyone didn't believe he could be a rapper and he proved them wrong. JHope started off from a street dance team called Neuron. He came from a popular academy that has trained many idols.

@@ky6170 haha, almost, but not quite. JHope trained at the academy that Seungri OWNS. Not attended. 😁 Seungri mentioned his Dance School when BigBang was on Weekly Idol. Seungri has lots of different businesses, though, on top of being an Idol: Restaurants, Dance Studios/Academies, etc. 😊💜

Plus another thing that i would really like to point out is that BTS is one of the few groups like Big Bang that actually take huuge part in producing their songs and album and also creating the choreography... Sure they recieve help but their lyrics are written by themselves. At first it was mostly RapMon, Suga and J-Hope but now even all the members take part in the production and song writing... I personally really admire that in a group whereas there are other artists who just are given the songs to sing and perform while not taking part in the production....,. I'm not saying that that is wrong or bad of them tbh i respect their abilities and voices and hardwork beause that ish is hard... But i also especially admire the groups that actually take part in the production of their own songs.

  • @ezrawrld

The video itself makes the appear as if their trying to be 'hard' and tough, but the lyrics show that they are trying to spread the message that it's good to be yourself, don't conform to society, don't be what your parents want you to be, be what you want to be.

2 were underground rappers: RapMonster and Suga. J-Hope was an underground dancer. this song isn't exactly about dissing the haters either. there name is 'Bangtang Sonyeondan' which translates to 'Bulletproof Boyscout' . the song is about them blocking out the bullets of hate and destructive criticism that comes their way. they are "Bulletproof'"

Like their music and when they're on stage they look so genuinely happy, like even if they're looked down upon as rappers because they're idols they just look so happy to be able to perform with BTS... What I like about that song is they are saying that they put in the work and made it themselves. Yeah they got taken in as a group, but Big Hit Ent is not a big name and the point of the whole song is that they still put in the work. They have worked hard to get where they are, even now. They may have taken idol status but it doesn't negate that they did it themselves. I mean, you saw "Dope" so you can understand now why I say that. No argument lol just a perspective of a recent BTS fan.

If you're going to "point out" the usage of obviously fake guns and metaphoric use of the word bulletproof here, shouldn't you first talk about you favourite Company. Hello YG Ent. Home of artists such as Epik High (whom I adore), certain Big Bang members and iKon (to name a few). Spitting rhymes and seemingly proclaiming all that swag. Where is their certificate of authenticity and legitimacy regarding Hip hop? Where are their bullet wounds? Seriously, what a silly thing to (constructively) "criticise..." Just saying, if you're going to selectively "comment" on these issues, on a video of a band you don't seem to think is popular, probably don't. Because for every silly, ill informed kpop crazy who may agree, there are 10 amazing, intelligent and aware Kpop fans who won't. Plus we don't wanna go into the whole cultural appropriation issue, because that is gonna come-a-calling Korea...Sorry didn't mean to scold you young men. Just had a similar argument with another kpop friend of mine. I do like your channel, I even subscribed :)

+KoreasTina Bruh. Chill. Did the rest of their positive remarks go over your head? Josh even said (in regards about the fake gun) "There's nothing to back it up, but that's not what they're all about" and they were simply trying to understand why these underground rappers be hella hating on them. I'm also assuming that they are not hardcore *crazy AF* fans/Army and didn't know BTS (BangTanSonyeondan) means Bulletproof Boys, hence, the reason why the guns are in this video. Also, Please-- Don't bring up other artists into this nor compare them, due to the fact that their style and usage of words differs from one another. Things like that will only start fan wars (there was recently one between yg and bts fans due to upcoming MAMA). But, I really do understand why you got all riled up. Just-- if you hear something you don't like-- don't just stop listening. Actually listen to what they have to say, digest it, understand their position. ^__^)b PS sorry for the long comment. #StopFanWarsPLEASE >___

Yuki9933 Ah, apologies if I came off rude in my previous comment.... Though, stupid me should have went into further detail. :D LESSON TIME, HERE WE GO!! So-- The South Korea government are well aware of our tragic mass shootings and how these murderers obtained these guns *legally*. This and learning from their past, where a S.Korean officer went bananas on a village (killing around 60..? Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong!), which in turn, created gun regulations that are strict and more successful than it is here, in the US. Therefore, yes-- Guns are viewed differently, but South Korea are much more "sensitive" and on-point when distributing firearms to civilians. //When a Research Essay for my Criminal Justice class comes in handy, uhuhuhu.. = v =)b

Yup, you guys always hit the nail on the head. To me, they're totally a dance group and that's why they could get away with such a fake hip hop image. It's something that they don't match at all, but because they can dance and perform it, it works for them. I'm glad that they're coming into their own style nowadays, one that's not just acting hard. Their sound is improving, IMO.

At the time of this mv, their youngest member (the one that did the hat dance at the end) was only 15 and their oldest was 20, so yeah, they were pretty young! They've definitely matured a lot since then. If I could make a suggestion as to what you guys could check out, I'd suggest the three BTS cyphers, pt.1, pt.2: Triptych and pt.3 Killer. I won't demand you make a video to them, you can just watch them in your own time if you'd like. I just thought you guys would like them cause the rappers go hard, especially in pt.2 and pt.3. The cyphers don't have music videos so lyrics videos is the way to go. On another note, thanks for all the vids and thanks for being so cool!! :)

I thought, "Awwweeee, how cute😊," when I first saw this video, as well. Also, that ending is what made it memorable to me too. It's very interesting to see Korean rappers, and I almost want to put it like "rappers" but that's just being unnecessarily salty😜 I can argue both ways: A.) No, they're not about "that life," but at the end of the day there aren't any Koreans rappers who were raised in ghettos/projects, involved in gangs, and/or chose to sell drugs to "survive"...if we are taking it back to the roots of where rap started, the essence, and the raising of social consciousness. B.) Just like you don't have to have had your wife leave you, take the dog, and the pickup truck (overly generalizing) to sing country or the blues...you don't have to have gone through "the struggle" to put some bars together and rap.

Now that you mention B-free, you should check out Cypher Part.2 with Subtitles. That is how you actually call out another rapper. With a beat and bars.Rap Monster spilled the gasoline around and Suga set it on fire. Bulletproof is from the era when they were still finding their identity in the kpop industry though. They have given everything a try, from tough rebel guys to school guys in love. But they are still young guys who are very talented and frankly have been producing amazing music and performances. They all have the showmanship. The underground rappers too even though they have accepted that the makeup and dancing makes them uncomfortable. But they did what they had to in order to keep going. The gun is obviously a metaphor for their talent as singers and artists though. It will be 100 times easier to understand them if you see their lyrics.Even the song 'no more dream' that looked all flashy and stuff was completely about kids in Korea who suffer due to the education system and literally have no dreams.Same goes for N.O.

Guns are illegal in this part of the world hehehe. They were speaking metaphorically about the effort they put in to even become idols. They've grown so much though. Bulletproof was 2 years ago! :D Next year Jungkook is going to be an adult!! They even take great part in the production of their music. Their real success came with their "In the mood for love album pt.1" where they dropped songs like I Need U and Dope. "In the moof for love ablum pt 2" Is coming out in a few days so do look out for it!!! :) From the teasers, I personally feel like it may be their best album so far :D Our boys have finally found their sound and it's hella unique~

  • @smileyman1977

    @smileyman1977

+Kiara Because in East Asia in general they don't say someone is 0 years old like we do in the West. I have a 7 year old son, and when he was first born we'd say "he's six months old or eight months old or 10 months old". In East Asia a newborn starts at 1 (just like a ground floor wouldn't be the 0th floor but the 1st floor). However, for official purposes Koreans use the same sort of chronological system as Westerners. So a Korean might generally say he's 19 to his friends (because of the traditional system), but then when he goes to get a passport he'll put down 18, or even possibly 17 because sometimes the chronological age can be as much as 2 years behind the traditional age.

They were super young in that MV, it was the second one they came out with. I don't think you guys have reacted to their Just One Day video. It's a much more chill hip hop style, almost R&B. You'd like it, I think.

part one is a song from /before/ the original BTS lineup. it was called BPB before and it was just Rap Mon, Supreme Boi, and iRON (who are part of his crew DNH) in that, the other two were just trainees with Rap Mon at the time. It's pretty dope but their voices changed a lot since then lol. but yeah yall have to check out the cyphers with eng subs. ..bfree is like one of the few people who hate idol rappers and the mainstream world but he still makes dope beats.

papillon tae well he's part of hi-lite and he does some of the other guys stuff so.. before this incident had happened i used to listen to some of his stuff and it's still good. as a person i judge him since he's narrow minded but as a musician i still like his works. to each their own.

+xsa ks987 Well B-Free has also featured with both Zico and Mino on different songs. His lyrics nowadays have said "under or over, the title doesn't matter, let's get paid", so I guess he's taking back his previous stance.

And YES I have shot a rifle but never an actual handgun....anyways XD yus the reason why they're so young is because this was their debut XD btw the trick to the hat; watch the side camera; they have two hats :P

You should watch Cypher, all three. And it's not about themselves either killing themselves or getting killed, you got that right. It's metaphorical. But they definitely know how to defend themselves.

I think it's basically some of the undergrounds think because they're in a boy group that they aren't rappers. Also, yes they were super young in this, I think JungKook was only 15-16 years old.

there's no [mv for] part 1 because it was a predebut track but you can look up the song and Rap Monster is the only current BTS member that is in that song, the other two left BTS before they debuted and they are Iron and Supreme Boi [who still works under BigHit, i think] but the current BTS "remade" part 1 for their 2nd year anniversary. Also, the look young here because this MV was from 2013 and they had just debuted
