Suffered through the traffic mess when it was being built back in the 90's although the majority of the work was done at night. Surasak Station is quite busy as you have two huge private schools near there being Bangkok Christian College and Assumption Convent.

Saint Louis station has taken up a bit of overspill from Chong Nonsi & Surasak. Bangkok was messy during construction, traffic was a mess as you say, but it'll take a hell of a lot to get people out of their cars here. Convenience isn't a good enough incentive when you can be seen driving a car.

Tip to visitors. If you are staying in the center of the city don't automatically assume that taking the BTS to Saphan Taksin and orange flag boat is the best way to go to the Grand Palace. The MRT from Asoke to Sam Yot might be better, especially if you are getting an early start to beat the crowd on a weekend or holiday as the orange flag boats get a late start then. The walk from Sam Yot to Grand Palace isn't that long.

Hi Pat, another great video. I live near Bang Wa and hoped you'd highlight that Bang Wa is a huge feat of engineering being a BTS station on top of a MRT station. Perhaps another day. Isn't it a simple idea to call both MRT/BTS stations one name. It gives 2 lines to choice from plus a few more stations along the MRT I can switch to a third line. Life is good in Bangkok!

Negative - its a bloody eyesore. Positive - Great way to get around. My experiences have always been positive with both the skytrain and the MRT. I have not done a lot of peak times travel but off peak around 50+ trips. If you are focused shopping and staying on or near sukhumvit road then MBK, siam paragon, Central World, Terminal 21 and Emporium are really easy trips on this service. Thanks Pat, Another great video.
