Just fyi for those wondering: RM’s line about frogs and wells, it’s referencing a fable that’s famous in asia, where there’s a frog stuck inside a well, and he looked up at the sky from the bottom of the well, and the sky looked like a small blue circle. and he thought that was all there was to the world outside, so he happily stayed in his well, thinking his well was a bigger and better place. basically RM is dissing the haters for not having the right perspective. also, when RM was stuttering, he’s mimicking people who hated them who are now kissing their ass. oh and 18-13-38 ddaeng is referring to a korean card game. the first two pair of cards are kinda useless. the last one is a “ddaeng” which wins the game. Theyre implying that haters trying to put them down were wasting their efforts putting them down, bc they won the game in the end. this is what ive interpreted so far. feel free correct me or add to this!

ddaeng is one of my fave rapline songs purely because you can get a feel for how each of them raps. jhope is chill, follows the beat, lets it flow. yoongi cuts ahead sometimes, he raps in waves of fast and lazy (in a good way) like the beat is a suggestion but he makes it fucking WORK, and RM raps with this steady tone and careful enunciation on his wordplay that he can even stutter on purpose and make it artful. ddaeng is a really clever song and its a genuine feat that they can showcase each of their styles, relay insanely witty wordplay and dissing their haters while still making it a cohesive, well-done track

Ddaeng means different things in each verse. It can mean 'wrong' or sound of a bell. The numbers are linked to a Korean card game, BTS are basically saying they have the best cards. The numbers are also linked to a bible verse where Jesus foresees his betrayal. Also the 'frogs in a well' part is basically about having a small worldview, BTS are basically telling Korean industry to continue staying local and not evolving. Plus Joon stutters in his verse, indicating how others who dissed him now stutter an apology

j-hopes style is very playful with lots of flow, namjoon has a sort of strong, authorative rap style that can convey strong emotions with little effort, suga has the most, if i can say, teasing voice ( if that makes sense ) it's like a sort of laid-back style that hooks you to every word ( with the occasional scoff ) it had a certain sting to it too

Knowing that you've had to address all of this is the most painful for your family and your Army. This is a big FU to the industry, they were being sarcastic and basically telling them "you right we won't make it and will fail, just look at these achievements now" .Τhey're thanking big companies and the media for belittling and ignoring them, since it's what pushed them to work hard and be successful. Daeng: wrong, a bell, or kinda like bingo: 18 13 38 ddaeng is a card game (hwatu reference). Which are the highest scores, so it means they have all the power cards and they're basically winning and are unbeatable while the haters having no chance at all. The part it's like homework, if they can't answer it, it's their problem. They were practically laughing how the industry creating task force to study and analyze how BTS got so big cause they somehow can't believe that the underdogs surpassed the 3 biggest companies cos of their hardwork . When they said they were praying for the small companies to succeed they were talking about the big 3 which is ironic how the tables have turned. Namjoon also mocked those haters/rappers who insulted them before but were now kissing their asses after they made it and went to apologize to them while stuttering and admitting they liked them. "Rappers with no haters, shut up" RM was dragging those who rap about haters when they don't have one because no one's paying attention to them and telling them to look at the mirrors cos they're their own haters. "Who are you to approve of me?" "Frog in a well” is a phrase used to refer to people who stay within their means because they’re afraid of the world beyond. Bts is referring to the kpop industry that’s afraid to try new things and dream beyond the norm. “Die in a well” could mean rotting in their own mediocrity . How namjoon didn't once raise his voice while dragging them...Like they don't deserve that much from him and the he remains unbothered with the haters. Conclusion: This is the classiest drag ever !
