They spoke in Korean dialect in the end, actually in Suga's hometown Taegu(my hometown too) accent: "Hey you, do you know what respect is?" Suga pronounced "respect" in Korean way (리스펙트 ri - s - pec - t in 4 syllables). Namjoon in awkward Taegu accent, VERY politely "I still don't know it." and then Suga shouts "ah, respect(존중 jon joog)? respect (존경 jonkyung, more like esteem)? " RM and suga shout together "respect? esteem?" and .... sorry can't hear the rest parts very clearly. 💜💜

The rest goes... Suga going "that's what I say by respect, that's my thought.." then Joon interrupts and says "I saw that you're pretty good at dancing." then continued with a slight laughter "You much have practiced.".. I liked the original when Joon says "English is hard."... :)

That whole "BTS caught me off guard with their quality and depth" feeling is called cognitive dissonance. I experienced myself a TON when I first discovered them. My brain just couldn't compute that people that looked like them (a boy band) could actually create high quality music. For me it was almost a year straight of that type of cognitive dissonance.

It's the unexpectedness (If that's a word) which makes people army for life. Its not only a start of something beautiful, but you discover a lot about yourself in the way you perceive them. We learn how much our brain assumes stuff.

You know when asked about what the members mean to each one of them... Namjoon said "Respect" for Yoongi, and Yoongi said "Respect" for Namjoon 💜 and they were not in front of anyone else. It makes you feel about their kind if relationship. They are the members who have been together for longest in th group. And both are from underground rap scene... So there's a lot common in the 2. This is one of the reasons I fell in love with BTS. While everyone now is just doing the same stuff over & over while talking about how old school artists are their inspirations for the music they make BTS is actually doing it. I am obsessed with their 1st 4 albums & songs like Respect cuz those of us how grew up in the 80s & 90s here the true old school hip-hop sound in what BTS does & they are so truly respectful about it.

Pure happiness in the moment the second choreo started, Suga smiling so much, RM breaking with a laugh, and Bryan just completely gone. I had the same reaction first time I saw the live. So Fun! With a great meaningful song. That's BTS for you. Awesome as always, looking forward to the next.

I love when Suga and RM write lyrics taking a dig at the society's so called rules and regulations and thus the stereotypes and prejudice that accompanies. Songs like Strange, People, BAPSAE, AM I WRONG? etc. are some of them with deep lyrics exposing the unfairness of society and it's norm. Please check out bapsae, am I wrong? too most recommended. RESPECT here is a word a lot used by Rappers as a hip-hop slang and just thrown every now and then with or without context hence, the choice of the keyword . While as you too mentioned that Respect is a term that's disputable in itself and is defined differently by every other person, thus the confusion behind it's origin and use. I agree with your point of RESPECT is earned and that works both ways irrespective of age, gender, class, etc. still there aren't not many people who consider respect as a right of theirs because of power, position, relation, age or gender etc. Explaining why they couldn't figure out what it actually signifies till the end even after a song long discussion. At the end of the live, they are joking around because Joon actually messed up the first dance segment. They do two moves and Joon forgot to switch so at the end of the first part. He says something along the lines of "oh wow, you had some amazing moves there!!!" to Yoongi

Good to see you enjoying this song so much. I love it when they get cheeky/humorous with their song writing. I think respect is a bit of an underrated gem in Mots7. I really like the funny songs in BTS catalogue that actually have a pretty pointed message like this one.

This song is sooooo underrated. Ridiculously underrated. I love it so much. I also think what you said about how you were raised relates to how I personally feel and live my life (I was raised very traditionally in rural oklahoma and similarly taught to respect all elders, etc.): I am respectful. I treat people respectfully. I don’t act disrespectful toward people. But that doesn’t mean I respect them. There’s a difference in how you feel about someone vs. how you treat them. I’ll always act respectfully because that’s how I choose to treat others based on my own moral code. But that doesn’t mean I have respect for them inside myself. I used to teach in jails in the DC area. The jails, not the prisons. So you get a mix of everyone and every crime. I worked with some people in there who had done things that were truly horrific. I can’t say I truly respected some of them. But I always treated them respectfully. How you feel about someone and how you treat them are 2 different things. One of those things reflects on them (how you feel about them) and one reflects on you (how you treat others).

That conversation at the end is still part of the song... It's part of the lirics.. That's why perform it every time. And you kept saying it has that 90s feel.. Well, there you go, 90s suits, 90s choreo... :))

There are loads of their other songs including some of my favorites: “Dionysus”, “Ma City”, “Truth Untold”, ”Outro: Tear”, “House of Cards”, “Lost”, “Dimple”, “Butterfly”, etc. and their solo, rapline, vocal line, short films, comeback trailers, etc. not included.

Ohhhh.... I love this song! I'm so exciteddd!!! 🔥😭💜 And you can say I'm too much of a NamGi enthusiasts. A lot of their songs or verses are like parallels but w/ diff. perspective or way of expression my fave example would be Everythinggoes and People 💜 namgi having a discourse on same song is my jam such as Strange and Respect. 🔥 This performance is so dear to me. 💜 I'm still looking forward for more namgi subunit songs, hopefully somewhere in their solo albums!

This song is so gold, like a comedic duo burn retro track all rolled in to one lol. Bit of criticism on society, bit of self depreciation, bit of comedy skit, bit of brotherly love and actual respect, bit of a homage to the old school rap, and tons of fun hehehe

RM and Agust D also made a song together called Strange where they question the sanity of how the world works. Totally awesome song. And the group song Dis-ease (J-Hope's brainchild) is also great food for thought.

Namjoon reflects on the meaning of loneliness in life and death themselves. It's probably one of my favourite songs of his!
