Yes, and aside from rabid toxic fans (which everyone has) it’s easy to stay on ARMYs good side. Just be respectful, don’t be racist or derogatory. ARMY doesn’t care if people don’t care for BTS’ music. That’s ok. Just be respectful about it and not unkind. That’s all. Easy.

I had a similar reaction to you. I had just spent an hour crying at my psychologist because I am in mourning over the sudden, tragic death of a loved one. I got into my car and checked my phone. The first thing I saw was that permission to dance had dropped about 20 minutes before. I clicked straight away and just sat there smiling. I didn't even know I could smile with the grief I'm feeling. I honestly don't know how they do it but BTS just has this way of making you feel better, regardless of what pain you are in at the time. And thank you for waiting 24hrs. Yours is the first reaction I've watched because I was waiting for you.

My daughter also cried when she saw the people in MV took off their masks and smile. The song is touchy, she said.

In the teaser, the magazine Suga is holding had a headline that read something about purple balloons signal the end of COVID. Maybe the purple balloon is flying around the world as countries begin to heal? I hope the song heals people’s hearts, because I know that’s what BTS is hoping for. I mean, look at how happy they all are in this MV. Love it! 💜

Omg!! I absolutely relate to how they have helped me with my own mental health and I am forever grateful because they brought my daughter out of her deep depression. I cried too. So proud to be Army and have artists like them who have something important to say and share. I love your journey!

This song is for Army-released on Army’s anniversary! Purple is love for Army!

I just want to touch on something you said … “They find you when you need them the most” and how that was true for you. Confession time, I have had the worst two years of my life and none of it was even COVID related, which did eventually add to what was already wrong in my life of course. I have suffered depression on and off my whole life but this was depths I never experienced before because everything fell apart. I was so darkly depressed and all of a sudden I discovered BTS and I was mesmerized. I fell down that rabbit hole and I haven’t even tried to escape it. It made me love music again when I had lost interest in everything. As stupid as it may sound to some, they gave me something to look forward to again when I had nothing else. So I totally get where you’re coming from. Thank God for them because they have helped so many people, I don’t even think they could realize how much. 🤍

I battle with depression for many years. My emotion dived deep on last Thursday night due to many circumstances that happened to my life. I almost ends my life. And, Friday I opened youtube and found out this song was out. I always at the premiere and yesterday I totally forgot due to my negative emotion. I broke out crying and thought that If I ended my life last night, I would miss to listen to BTS ever again. They saved me once again.

@@ystrw I think the Elton John reference is a nod to his song "Philadelphia Freedom". It was based on the Philly Soul sound from the 1970s and so is this song. Probably a sound that young Armys are not too familiar with, but us older Armys hear those strings in the background and recognize it right away. 🤣

My daughter and I watched the MV together; it was also my first comeback as ARMY (she is 15 and has been a fan since 2015!) I cried joyful tears as well. It's very true that they are like the mental health counselors of music. My daughter credits them for helping her through a lot of her depression, and I have been struggling recently too and they keep me feeling sane. This video EXUDES joy...from the colors, to their faces, the dance, and the vocals; everything! I am a speech language pathologist, and the sign language was so unexpected and beautiful. We have been living in a desert...isolated and colorless, and they are telling us it's okay to feel joy again. That alone is a tear-worthy sentiment.

This has been the most heart felt reactions I have seen. Thank you 💜 It just shows how much you love them and in only 1 month. BTS has done so much mental health wise for the world especially during this pandemic. They have been a saving grace for many people's dark times. It's so cool how the PTD MV shows us that the song is for everyone no matter who you are, what's your skin color, race, age, gender or even if you are a person with disability (incorporating sign language in choreography is highly commendable, especially releasing this on July which is Disability Pride Month). Everything in this song and video is so well thought. Oh I just love BTS so much.

BTS are special, I know it sounds more of the same but it’s true. I have never met an artist who had such power to spread positive messages about the world issues like our boys. And not only that, once you get to know them, their personalities, you fall instantly in love with how sweet and caring they are to each other and the fans. They are amazing 🤍

That's the way I always feel. Tears are just a sign of overwhelming emotions and that emotion isn't always sadness. I cry when happy, sad, elated, feeling understood. It's just a way to let this overflow of emotions out.

A J-Army did an anagram on Permission to Dance and came up with Stories on Pandemic. Tell me that is just coincidence. Yes, they were using international sign language. Also, in there is a sign on in one of the rooms where it reads disABILITY (Abiliy part is capitalized)...and July is Disability Pride Month!!! 💜

I love that you felt the message behind the song! This is not just a happy2 song, but it contains optimism, they're visualizing the end of covid, marked by the purple balloons, and how happy we will be when we can take the mask off... And the sign language... 💜

I also cried with the song, so don't worry! 💜 It's just like when you're going through a tough time and someone notices and hugs you saying it'll be alright, and then you start crying non-stop.

This came out on the ARMY anniversary. It’s a celebration for ARMY.

We all needed this mood booster. BTS is very strongly aware of mental health. I know yesterday there were complaints about it being another English song & it not being deeper lyrics but my perspective is different. Covid has negatively affected the guys, just like the rest of us, mentally. We watched jimin breakdown at an online concert in the beginning of the pandemic & they've been vocal how they miss performing for people and not screens. Their life was also turned upside down. This music is for us & themselves to feel joy,hope and upbeat when we ALL need it the most and your tears show you felt it too. I know i was in the best mood yesterday I can't remember the last time I had felt so happy all day in a really long time,nothing was bringing me down. Anyways~ 💜shoutout and love to all army for being an amazing support system and just all out amazing humans

I love this song and MV, it really makes me overwhelmingly happy and gets me bopping along within the dance. I've listened to it SO MANY times already and its just kept me in such a good mood today...even though I was having a rough day at work. This was released on July 9th, because it's a gift from them to ARMY, for our Birthday. Thank you for the respect you showed by waiting the 24 hours before releasing this. To me, this song is both reassurance that we'll be okay and a celebration of the fact that the end or Covid is in sight. It's a feel good and happy song, yes, but the message that it has is also incredibly important. Not just the lyrics, but the visuals, too. The teacher or principal dancing with the janitor, the office workers dancing together, the kids apparently being friends, even though they're different ethnicities and probably different cultures, too. I don't know if you noticed, but the man at the bus stop with the woman also had a cane. So, physical limitations and sign language, as well as different income brackets and body types, but they're all included. This song, and video, are for all of them and it truly warms my heart. I have watched over 40 reactions to this song and you're only the 3rd person that recognized that they were using sign language. I don't know sign language myself, but I've read that the dance at the end includes the signs for "Have fun", "Dance", and "Peace". They actually created choreo than incorporates sign language. No one else in the world does music like BTS.

This is what sets bts apart… what a surprise!!! Definitely was not what I was expecting after butter … but I couldn’t be happier with their birthday present for army!! So much time, attention to detail, thought and go into everything they do…. It’s hard for those on the outside to grasp that bc it can be so hard to find such genuine artists in the industry most places IMO. Bts is the genre bc they can always surprise us… even as many songs as they have done and they still can surprise us, make us so happy that we are brought to tears… now that is truly something special and something worth celebrating and holding on to!!! It's literally a 'happy-virus' song! I think the release of the purple balloons symbolised many things, wishing ARMY a happy birthday, spreading love, trust and happiness. The amount of inclusivity and thoughtfulness in this is really overwhelming, it brought tears to my eyes too. We don't need permission to be happy!

Thank you for following the 24h rule! It really proves how much you care about this. I personally wouldn't watch the reaction if you did post it sooner (not that I wouldn't watch it at all, I'd just wait till next day 😁). This song is just something different. First time listening, I already loved it. Second time, I cried like a turtle. And it's all because of how warm and full my heart was after watching the MV. It's so positive, uplifting, happy and carefree. It's a hopeful anthem. I can totally relate to the statement that you "find them when you need them". I wasn't doing well mentally before - and I still struggle, but BTS was a gift sent from heaven to me and they are helping me to get through it, which I will be forever grateful for. Nobody around me (in real life) really understands the connection I have with the boys, the special bond that only ARMY understands, and sometimes it makes me feel sad and lonely (having no one to talk about it with), but then I go on the internet and connect to my other family and it's just... I can't describe how happy it makes me to be a part of this purple ocean. 💜 (I also don't know if you know, but we - ARMY - had a birthday yesterday! 🎉) It's such a shame that some fans turned their backs on the boys literally only for singing another song in English, plus those stupid critics claiming this song is a "kids bop". They clearly just didn't get the message. 😩🙅 We couldn't reach our goals, but that's ok. PTD is a gift for us from the boys and we will treasure it in our hearts. Anyways, I've been streaming the hell out of this song for the past 24 hours, so Imma go get some rest now 😴🥴 Keep fighting ARMY 💜🤞

Thank you for sharing with us your journey of becoming an ARMY. I'm glad you found something in BTS and within the ARMY community that gives you joy.

They do find you.They are truly gifts from God. I am a 67 yr.old Army grandma. When you get older you find all of a sudden your life starts to change in ways you never thought would happen to you. Myself I started having a lot of health problems which stopped me from doing and participating in social and family activities. I was always the nurturing one and go to for my kids and grandkids. Suddenly that changed and I was lost. They would tell me it’s okay and not to feel that way cause they understood. But they didn’t l,not really. With all this change also came depression and doubts of self worth and one day I accidentally watched a video of BTS and I felt like someone really understood and knew what to say to help. I thank God for them because I need their help everyday. Thank you for your supportive reactions and reviews.

I would gift you all their albums and a CD player if I could just to see you unbox them haha, but I haven't even finished collecting them myself(not everyone understand the collecting albums thing but I consider it an investment in my happiness 😌)

yes!!! recently, an ARMY from my country has been featured on national tv cause she spent 2.2M pesos for BTS merch... she said it's for her happiness.. i can understand that...

Me too! I spend money on albums because they make me happy. Especially because my car is old so it doesn’t have Bluetooth but has a 6 CD changer, so it’s the only way I can listen to BTS when I drive (which gives me anxiety… singing along helps a lot!)

I've been struggling with depression for 15 years. I remember the moment when it truly hit me that BTS came to me when I needed them most. It was 2018 at the Love Yourself tour in Hamilton day 3- Epiphany. My mother had just been diagnosed with cancer a day before and it felt like my world was ending. When jin was singing his heart out during Epiphany- "I'm the one I should love in this world" and the entire venue sang along with him it felt like a veil lifted from my eyes. Suddenly the world was a beautiful place and I wanted to be a part of it. I thought of all the incredible Armys I meet over the weekend and all the happiness I experienced with BTS at the centre. As RM once send: "Please use me.. Please use BTS to love yourself. Because you guys taught me how to love myself. Every day." Through them I found the strength I needed. After that trip I encouraged my mother to listen to them because they helped me so much and she also found the strength to fight her cancer 💜 Please know that you are loved and appreciated by us as well. Thank you for this heartfelt reaction! You made me CRY 😂

i knew about them but was super dismissive, and then finally i let them into my heart ... days before my dad passed away and we went into covid lockdown. they really do come when you need them most.

BTS is never afraid to try any genre. They've always made that a point right from when they started. What's important to them is the message they put out. Theyve always been aware of their responsibility and it shows in everything that they do. And i love how they all look so happy in here. Ive never seen them THIS happy before. Thats so precious. Carefree. And i love the inclusivity. So heartwarming

Yes, another proof the BTS’ music heals. BTS aims to make the world a better place and they’re gradually doing it with us ARMYs. BTS always puts a smile on everyone’s faces and lift your spirit up. BTS is the best! There’s nothing like BTS! We all cried as well coz that’s how sincere and genuine BTS’ message are. It touched the listeners and brings comfort and joy.

The live version of this song is even better imo! Love just listening to their raw voices and seeing more of the choreo in the live version. Also.. I feel you on that. It's like happy tears and it's like them being able to make you feel good for the moment despite things not actually being so good to break you out of it temporarily... I love more of their hip-hop, rap and r&b side but this song is very meaningful (well, I believe all of their songs are meaningful.. even the ones that we might consider more shallow in lyrics and poppy and meant for American radio play because aside from knowing they're experimenting and always learning and open to new things and concepts, I can feel the conviction from them and them doing it straight from their heart with a real purpose behind it). They have made someone like me who has become so used to being emotionally detached and feeling numb about things in life.. not be as afraid to be vulnerable and emotionally express myself. I still struggle with it but at least they provide a safe space for me to allow myself to release my emotions. I went on an emotional rollercoaster with them, starting a few years ago.. and they became a huge source of comfort and helped me help myself. It's interesting because I realize beyond the content of their lyrics and music.. they remind me of myself in that I felt mature for my age back then like an old, wise soul in a young body but also that I am still childlike. Their energy is just what I needed and was never able to get from people in my life so I really did look up to them too as role models in what a healthy relationship and dynamic is like and how finding or developing your sense of self is a whole life journey.
