I agree with you about Jhope having the more melodic rap style. He always has a lot of interesting intonations too. I think it has a lot to do with his accent being different from the others. He's from an area in the south that has a much more up and down, almost sing song intonation

right and more than beautiful

one of my all time faourite bts tracks. the reason why they're the only korean group i can actually stan is cos they respect the culture. yh they used to be as ignorant as all these other groups who think being an authentic rapper means throwing on a pair of grills and dreading your straight as hell hair, but bts grew. I've yet to see another group who respects rap as an art form and is so upfront about the black artists they've been influenced by.

I definitely agree, J-Hope’s rap is so swaggy and just something about it it’s unique

Back in 2014 this was the first BTS song that I ever heard and I remember being shook because I didn't expect kpop to be this lit

So what I’ve read is that J-Hope's rap and its inflections are in part because of the dialect where he grew up. It’s a lot more up and down, tonally, than the Seoul dialect and I think that carries over. I think it adds something great. All 3 rappers have such a distinct style. I love that you’re going through their old stuff! They even have a Satoori (dialect) rap, I’m looking forward to you watching that one. (I’m an ex-linguist, so I love dialect stuff).

myysharona I feel like Terry was commenting more on how J-Hope’s _style_ of rapping changes frequently and always has a more contemporary flow. He raps the way you expect to hear from mainstream rappers in America, more rhythmic and with the beat while RM and Suga tend to emphasize the lyrics so their styles are either really heavy or highlighting a point made in the lines. Thought I’m sure you’re right that the influence of his dialect effects his delivery

Jhope being a dancer also give a contribution to his rap. He has a great sense in rhythm and he bring this to his rapping style.....that's what i read on an aminoapps post which talk about their rapping style....

I do not know about other people but I am very touched with jungkook line after RM rap "I'll be down for your rap, I'll be down for your rhythm' "It still makes my heart pound, it makes me be the real me, yeah, I love this" He chose Bighit over other agencies because of RM rap, you know how I felt

Every time BTS is asked (especially when they're in America) "who is your favorite artist or Who is artist that inspires you?" I always wanted to shout to them GO AND LISTEN HIPHOP PHILLE

At first I didn't really notice but I really really now love J Hopes style. J Hope was a street dancer before BTS , he sings too so that could explain the natural rhythm and melody in his movement/voice.

Grew up listening to hip hop and R&B and that is why I love BTS so much. Then seeing now even tho they try out different genres they still always include their hip hop elements in every albums, I love them even more. When you're a music lover it means a lot. Especially when your first love genre was hip hop and R&B. Especially when learning the lyrics to hip hop phile, you can feel how much the rap line appreciates hip hop. BTS have the best rap line!! Hands down!!!

In my opinion I think Hobi has gotten alot better recetnly. What I mean is that when he came into BTS it was a pure rap group s he had to learn right, but unliken suga and rm who already had their own style, Hobi has spent time changing styles, all he pull off really well........ But I feel like in the last few years he has completely found his style that suits him 110% and totally slayin it!!

I love that you're going back to their old albums cuz there are a lot of unapppreciated gems in their old stuff

During an interview they said that they never thought they would become so well known. All the goals that they had set they have accomplished. So there was a moment in the past year that they felt helpless, what to do next? And the pressure.. So that is how paradise and so what also came to be. I think it was Suga who felt the most bumbed out about it. So knowing this it makes my heart squeeze :)

Epik High -> 1 minute 1 second, Love Love Love, Amor Fati, Born Hater, Wannabe, Nocturne, Tomorrow (Tablo ft. Taeyang), Bad (Tablo ft. Jinsil), Fan, Maze, Excuses.... Tomorrow and Bad only feature Tablo of Epik High, but I love these songs, so I had to recommend them ^^ ! I also really love 1 minute 1 second, Maze and Excuses, although they are "older songs" (I guess... 2009-2011 or something?). When I started listening to Kpop back in 2005, Epik High was my go-to apart from "typical idol groups" like TVXQ or SuJu. Tablo is a great person and supports BTS all the way

I just remember it. This song is like a song to explain 'why BTS love hiphop so much' and back than 2013 BTS start debut with a rare/unusual concept in Kpop "idol hiphop". So BTS got so many hate comments about this (concept, music, fashion). Both hiphop side n kpop side didn't accept them. But they still work with their music and their original passion. So they released this song also reality show named "American Hustle Life" (They learn hiphop culture from hiphop native (?) sunbaenim))

Yesss finally! I’ve been trying to tell hardcore hip hop lovers to listen to this song for ages!!! So happy someone finally did it! Glad you liked it. This is literally my favorite song on this album, because it shows how deeply they are connected to hip hop. Not just music, but the culture. How it came into their lives and literally consumed them. Yoongi’s verse especially hit me hard. When he said that hip hop was his everything, and that he’d die for the culture over 100 times I balled. I felt that right in my heart. Especially because this is someone all the way in South Korea, expressing such love and appreciation for the culture, which people still misunderstand today. They understood. They got it. They don’t even speak English and they got it. This is when I officially decide to stan BTS. This was when I joined the ARMY. I also think American hustle life greatly influenced this song as well as I think this album came out after it. You should see it live!! It’s even better.
