I'm 46 yrs old. I have lived through the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, New Kids On The Block & One Direction eras. NO OTHER BAND IN THIS WORLD COMPAIR TO BTS! They are loved tremendously WORLDWIDE. From their humble beginnings to their now-humble success, they have NEVER taken anything for granted. They always thank ARMY 1st before anyone else when winning awards or having successful moments, their hearts are tied to ours forever.

They put an efforts to achieve their goal with their own culture.... You can see from Idol mv... And they made it... And one more thing, their lyrics in their song is not about love, sex, drugs, violence or anything that harsh but its about love your own self, be yourself, love the way you are... That's was beautiful... And its really help people to overcome the self conflict.... I will support bts for the rest of my life n will love them with my heart and my soul..... I purple BTS 💜💜💜💜💜💜

It's hard to quantify the success of worldwide artists like them. I am 44 and have also lived through BSB, NSYNC, NKOTB (which was wildly popular amongst my schoolmates in Malaysia late 80s/early 90s), 1D and even Spice Girls. All groups mentioned were also famous worldwide. I now live in the US, and having seen the passionate love and support BTS enjoys all over the world, I am confident in saying that they are as successful as the others, at this point. However, BTS in my opinion, is only starting. Going by their trajectory these past 2-3 years, I'd say by the time they're done, they'll only be compared to The Beatles (yes, I said it). Why? They're changing the game. Unlike the others mentioned above, BTS' popularity is very much 'homegrown'. There's no real support from the music industry as we know it (eg. radio) in the western hemisphere, which is still considered the center of the entertainment industry. Needless to remind you, they're SOUTH KOREAN. In fact, they are still facing prejudice here in the US. Cultural and racial prejudice. I had to tune off my local radio station after its deejays talked derogatively about them. Their songs are still not in regular rotations. But despite that, they topped the Billboard charts! Amazing! So yes, they WILL be more successful, and most importantly, more INFLUENTIAL, than the other bands by the time they're done.

Me too. I'm 44 yo. And i love NKOTB, BB, NSYNC, Boyz II Man etc. And i think, BTS is above all boybands ini this world.

I was there when the Beatles were huge, yes, and I am probably the oldest BTS fan out here. American boy bands could never touch BTS. I honestly believe BTS has surpassed the Beatles in popularity due to the social media benefit. You feel like you are a part of their life. Language barrier? Not at all!! They perform with their heart and soul. Who cares if it's in Korean. They still learned to sing in different languages to touch every one of us. That makes them special and sets them apart from other artists. And they can do it all. So much talent and dedication. They deserve all this and more. I am Army.

The fact that their songs are in korean and not english says a lot. Because backstreet boys, nsync, one direction, spice girls etc were all English singing groups. I feel that bts has accomplished more in a sense that they are not singing in English. It still amazes me still this day

Backstreet Boys met Bts as they were touring in the US😄 I would say Bts is on another level but they are advanced because social media helps a lot to have a big fanbase. The ARMY is the strongest fanbase around the globe. What makes Bts also special is the fact that they are successful with Korean music! And me as a fan, I don't expect them to sing in English, Spanish, French or whatever because i really like their language. 💜

@The Lie Detective BTS and Back Street Boys are from 2 very different eras. Not only has technology become much more advanced from when Back Street Boys was around, allowing BTS to reach a bigger audience; but the entire music industry itself has evolved. Therefore you simply cannot compare both artists, they are both legends and have each made history. One day, another artist may surpass BTS as well, but that doesn't mean that they would be better than BTS. (I'm an ARMY since 2014 btw)

Bts is Worldwide..singing in Korean...and with real messages in every song..that’s what makes them on a different level than any boy group ever..the American boy groups and even the Beatles didn’t appeal to people all around the world in over 114 countries..and there were no messages in the songs sung by these groups..they didn’t change things in a positive way with their popularity and the fan base variety wasn’t as large in the ages...races..cultures..etc...no hate..but the Beatles fan base was largely Caucasian..as an African American in the 60s..their music did not appeal to us..but BTS appeals to all ages..races..genders..cultures..social status..they make you want to be a better human being..they teach tolerance and acceptance and love...what other group has had that ability to unite people..?#BTS Ahjumma Army #BTS Africanamerican Army #I Purple You 💜💜💜👵🏽👍🏽😊

So nice note for why bts is the new generation Anpanman^^. With them, we can learn love in depth across cultures, against prejudice. We still have such big brothers in music industry to fight for and i believe it will be better as bts showed us. Marie White are u crazy u are saying the group which brought boy bands to life which influenced everyone changed history which are the Beatles and u think they aren’t good just cause some fake plastics makeup people came. They are cringe and overacted there are many groups better than them especially kpop. Beatles are icons and can’t be beaten then their is 1D which is regarded as 21st century Beatles even on hiatus they are winning awards. Tbh bts was their in 2013 because 1D is on break that’s why they are famous they will die down u will see cause humans tend to follow whatever comes new that’s all. Whatever bts did 1D and beatles did it also. 4 albums on number 1 awards records etc.

2014 : their first concert was in US in New york with only 200 audience 2018 : lastest concert in US was in Citifield staduim in new york with +55k audience the glow up !! I'm not crying you are !

The Backstreet boys where HUGE back in the days.. I grew up with their music :-D They are legends in their own way... But BTS are just on another level... Remember, they are korean artists... They don't have the advantages that Backstreet had.. Normally Asian artists struggles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They still are... Actors, singers.. You name it.. But they have social media and the Army, pushing them forward - United by all different nationalities..

Just so you know everyone, they have seen the first one a long time ago but with this second one they seem to have learned more now that they've gotten to know the boys a bit better.

i feel like they're easily in the top ranks as far as their numbers go here in the US. idk if it's just me but i feel like even though they're huge they don't get the full respect they deserve because they don't get as much radio play here. i personally feel like it's all because they don't speak english.. it's bullshit because their album was one of the best selling ones of the whole year and was amazing at that. but a lot of people don't give them the chance because of this and i hope that in 2019 people can just get over this and take two seconds to look up translations and see.. i love this group so much and i had never listened to kpop or anything similar until about a year ago, and i've never been a fan of someone like them. their growth is shown here in this video so well, and i wish i would have found them sooner. but i truly believe i found them when i needed them in my life and i know a lot of other people feel the same. to me they're the complete package. i believe that they have the potential to be one of the biggest groups ever to exist if more people will give them the same chance like we all did.

This is why we love BTS so much and ARMYS will do anything to stand for them. Some people may think, we love or going crazy with them because of their looks but no. BTS is our live savers. We can relate to them in every aspects in life and they made songs with beautiful and moving lyrics to comfort us. They are inspirations and motivators that we will make it if we persevere and work hard. I've been in this fandom for 4 years now. I'm independent since 17, working student, and came from a broken family. I got through so much hardships but having BTS in my own life is like the most wonderful thing happened to me. They gave me so many reasons to keep going, have a dream and especially love myself. So many ARMYs can relate to me. This is why we're so dedicated and want to give everything to them because they deserved it the most in this world. We're giving them back or repaying them by being supportive in everything. BTS has such a different story from every other group. I really appreciate their hard work and their love for what they are doing. Many broadcast medias said Bts is becoming bigger than the Beatles. The sensation of Bts is incredible and they’re producing, writing and making their own music. They can rap and dance in another level so it’s hard to compare with those boybands. Backstreet Boys and Nsync were famous more than 10years ago. Bts also doing Love yourself campaign donating UN and became the representative of young generation and made a speech at UN. They are making new histories and I’m sooooo proud of them!!!

YJ Cho never said bigger than beatles. U are delusional beatles made boybands changed history made music for everyone. Their records can’t be broken even. And that was when their was no technology like today. And 1D revived boyband era and bts just famous cause 1D is no more or else they weren’t big once 1D was ruling. They said *NSYNC is the next Beatles nope they said 1D is the 21st beatles and yeah they did break records and are the most biggest band of this generation search it and most profitable but they fell short because they split so no one lives up to that atleast respect the Beatles. Plastics with makeup lol what they are doing 1D did all that.

i was young and in the thick of bsb, nsync, spice girls,, and i can honestly say that bts is another level both in fame, quality, and connection w their fan base. no hate or shade but its really just a whole different animal. the fact that they've done it while singing/rapping in korean and coming from a tiny independent company on the verge of bankruptcy too......its truly unbelievable.

They still live together in one home but now it's in the most expensive area in Seoul in a $7M worth luxury condominium. They have their own rooms now except for Jhope and Jimin who choose to share one big room 😊

I would say it's really hard to compare BTS to Backstreet Boys or NSYNC (and I was a huge fan of both groups at the time). BTS has really utilized social media to it's fullest, something the other groups didn't have in their most successful time. Also, as I was a teen at that time, I'm not sure how successful they were Globally. I know they had international fans and concerts, but I'm pretty sure BTS has a far wider and more diverse reach with their music. Also, as much as I loved them, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC did pretty much sing typical boy band type songs. That is part of what makes BTS different. When they touch on subjects that are Taboo in Korea or political or economic issues in their music, it is impressive to me. And finally the fact that they are this popular worldwide, while singing in Korean is amazing. So while I still think it's not truly fair to compare them since they are vastly different types of music groups, if I had to choose, I would say BTS is bigger.

They are really big you have no idea how much they have influenced the world with their music. I don't like to compare artist but to give you a Idea let's just say they are 21st century Beatles.💜👍 But BTS has most biggest and diverse fan base in the world in a BTS concert you can find even an alien 😂( I'm kidding) what I'm trying to say if they came to any country in the world Army will own that place under the name of BTS. It's hard to compare BTS to past American or British boy bands because BTS has the power of social media. So they definitely have the numbers but they also have more accessibility. ...that said 😜😜 BTS are more often compared to the Beatles. That's the scale of their phenomenon. American press has dubbed it the Korean invasion after the Beatle's British Invasion. Only BTS is doing it with music spoke in a language relatively few people speak. It's only possible from the kpop industry and culture that paved the way, but it also takes a very special group. Plus the fact that they were underdogs in their own country didn't stop them from building a global audience is just pretty much beyond imagination

I remember being an ARMY 4 years ago. Even my sister laughed and joke to me about BTS. She said, who is BTS? Why I like such group? BTS is just weird she said. But, those harsh critics doesn't stop my love and support for BTS. Because no other groups that their music touches my heart. Make me feel alive. But BTS did. 4 years ago, my life really on struggle, at the bottom. I don't know what to do in my life. Then, I read comments people joke on BTS. That's when I started curious about BTS. Why netizens kinda hate them. I start searching about them and brought me to know ARMY too. It turns out, I like BTS. And ARMY they're nice towards each other. They're (BTS and ARMY) like 1 big family. When I struggle and talk about my problem they encourage me and support me. Give advices. 4 years has passed and I'm really happy now and never regrets for being ARMY. And, you know, i found out my sister being an ARMY since March last year. Well, who's laughing now 😊

bts came from a small company, how they worked so hard and put so much dedication into their performances makes me cry. even though i havent been an army for long (september 2018) it still wont stop me from supporting these crackheads. they may seem like 'just a boy band' but they arent the same as any other group. they are weird, talented and hard-working. they trained for a few years and have worked really hard ever since debut to give fans what they ever wanted. they thank armys for helping them throughput the years and have been very great full whenever they win awards. one award means a lot to them, maybe not to others but means a lot to bts. they put their, blood, sweat and tears into their work and its crazy how they trained for hours and got little sleep everynignt. now they are happy, but they are still going through hardships and they meaningfully express it through music. they are always happy together and are always happy with army and we all should be thankful for how they worked to get where they are now. i hope non-kpop fans do a lot of research because to them, they are 'asian, stupid boys' and thats not right. its also crazy how they had to squish into one apartment, crazy how they started off with nothing, crazy how no one remembered their names. they deserve the world and they dont deserve haters, they have already gone throughh a lot because of haters,they were accused and that made them sad. its all okay now, they have everything they ever wanted, but you know, they got more than what the expected. as they say, love yourself, love myself. 💜💜💜💜

The amount of pressure they must be feeling is incredible. They have always felt responsible for their fans, but now they have become representatives and ambassadors of their country, with the political establishment seeing them as such. They are good-will ambassadors for Unicef. Many people are expecting them to become even more successful in the international music market. And they are still only between 21 and 26 years old. They have talked about the pressure and their fears quite openly on many occasions. By the way, they have been living together since before their debut in 2013, as they had several years of being "trainees" at their company before the debut. Jimin and V were still at highschool then and Jungkook was still at middle school. (So basically, Jungkook hasn't been living with his parents since he was 13 or 14.)

I think BTS is better because they’ve achieved way more than other groups, and it’s already hard for them to do so since they’re from South Korea. Other groups don’t have a special message like BTS. BTS has taught millions around the world to love themselves. They just have a special connect with each other like family and with ARMY. It’s something no other boy band has done before. BTS are truly special.

I think this gives you a reason of why their fandom protects them so much. And, that's because of all the hardships that they had to endure in the past... ARMYs just don't want them to suffer anymore. Anyway, thank you so much for reacting to this video!!

Thanks so much for your empathy. Back Street Boys, NSYNC, Spice Girls etc. were all significant in their own way. But BTS has made global connections on a humanitarian level that's built on kindness, patience, hard work and hope. And they did this in a language that's not English. In terms in cultural impact - BTS is well on they're way to being number one.

I'd definitely say BTS is really big, bigger than any boy group that's ever been existing. Why? Because of the globalised era and social media connecting people all over the world. Previously we'd have backstreet boys and the beatles dominating, but they only dominated in the western market. BTS has conquered a large parts of Asia, Europe, North and South America. That alone differentiates BTS from other boy groups. Asia is one of the most populated continents and pair that with their raise in the West, absolutely unrivalled.

I think bts would have already become as huge as backstreet and nsync if they werent korean artists. Most ppl are prejudiced against bts because of their appearance as its not in keeping with the MACHO men look and the way they wear makeup or jewellery. The ppl at my college chose to hate bts because they” LOOK LIKE WOMEN”. Or assume they are “GAY”. Even along with such preconcieved notion im happy they broke through many people who were ready to be open minded. I am an indian, an asian, even so the women and men around me look up to western entertainment but see korean chinese or japanese as trash or feminine. ( they still think something feminine or gay is an insult) . Hope things change for the good in future. But after joining army i have become more open minded and have tried to learn more about inclusiveness and not judging ppl on their colour looks or sexual orientation. I think BTS is bigger and will be bigger than any other boy group that came before not because of how accepted by the general public, but because of how devoted we are to them and they are to us, bigger because they try harder and care more for their fans than anyone else, bigger because it's not just us giving to them, but them giving back. Bigger because it's not just how pretty they are that matters, but how much we care for them as people, and how hard we try to give them everything that they deserve, how we work as a cohesive unit to take them higher and higher. Bigger because it's not just making music for them, but also helping their listeners. Because they want to make the world better even if they can only impact it a little bit. Bigger than anyone who was before, because BTS isn't just here for the fame and the money and the music, but rather because they want to save as many people as they can with positive messages.

I loved bsb and nsync back then in the 90's - 2003 then 20 years later discovered bts then i fell in love with them instantly like it suckes how korea audience's used to treat them like they were nun cause they didnt come from the big3 i think coming to America was the best decision cause they got recognized here then their own country

Yes those who remember pre Nov 2016 remember what a horrible time it was for the boys. They were getting attacked on a few fronts. Made it worse is Army fanbase is strong but it was even hard for them to keep composure, some fanbases around that time (wont say names) were downright rude and disrespectful and it sparked of a few army as well, thankfully that was kept in check for the most part. But it was really hard to see them finally get recognition for their music only to have it all being called "rigged". But army is still strong and still gathering steam and pushing forward. Grammies 2019 here we come.....

Being with them since 2014, i felt that all of my memories back then went back as i watched this videos. It made cry but made so proud of their achievements. I still remember that someone bullied me for listening to kpop especially bts. I used to cry in my sleep because of the cruelty of some people.but bts helped me alot until now

I think to gauge who was bigger (BTS or BackStreet Boys/NSYNC) I thinks we’d have to know the international success of those American groups. It’s well known that both groups are/were immensely popular in their own countries, but thanks to social media we know for a fact how well known and popular BTS is internationally. Bc social media wasn’t available back when those American boy groups were active, I would say BTS is definitely more popular for the pure fact that if they didn’t have social media to know about their success internationally then there’s even less of a chance that their music was able to spread to other countries (w/o the aid of social media) unless they physically went and promoted in other countries. Whew...I know that was long but I just felt like articulating myself so there’d be no confusion or misunderstandings 😂😂😂

All of these other bands you mentioned. Did they write, produce and compose 99% of their own music? Did they top the world's biggest music market with 2 number 1 albums? Did they speak at the UN? Yes? No? And remember, they're only just beginning. Safe to say BTS are nothing like anything that has existed before.

Great bands you guy said are sing song in English so many people can understand so easily but Bts sing song in korean it spoke only in korea it is not international language. Even i don't understand korean i can connect myself with bts songs, i feel things when i hear their songs. In my point view bts is bts no need to compare them, their music is so unique. Even though their is a language barrier their music reach us and moved our heart.

i think the 1st difference between Backstreet or NSYNC is they are korean and it not a global language like english.... and most of them even can't speak english .. but that can't stop ARMYss to love them.... I like your reaction also cry with you... can you react to " BTS is not group but family?

i don't want to be rude, disrespectful or anything by anymeans to those previous bands and their fans by saying that BTS is much more bigger and on another level than previous boybands, that's the truth.

They are WAYYY bigger then BB NSYNC New Kids on the Block, one direction, The Beatles etc. All of these groups have at some point betrayed the fans that carried them to the top including Justin Bieber, BTS... They ARE at the top, they inspire ARMY to do good, to do better, to do MORE for others and for themselves then any of these groups have ever done. BTS should be worth BILLIONS of dollars, but did you know they donated 2/3rds of their profits to charities? I didn't know this until recently that they only take a small percentage of their profits. When I looked into where the rest of the money is (they've sold out so many performances and albums that they SHOULD be rolling in money), but... they surprisingly aren't rolling in cash. Do you have any idea what kind of breath of fresh air that is to the music industry? Do you have any idea what that feels like to be 'nobody' and see a Legend who started out like me, be humble STILL despite their fame??? ** Sigh ** Other ARMY are teaching ARMYs who get over excited, how to behave and have manners. Name any other group who has done the same thing? At first I thought of a few solo artists... but they actually dont do that.. then I remembered Prince Harry and Megans visit to Australia... and the fact that the Prince allowed that Little boy with down syndrome to touch his face and hug him... and I finally realized that BTS resemble royalty MORE then royalty.. they resemble the royalty of old, the ones choosen by the people, to lead, and those whom were entrusted with those heavy burdens of societies, who still got involved with their friends before they became such leaders. In the history of the world, their has rarely been anyone like BTS little lone 7 of them together at the same time and point in history.

The only group that can compare to BTS , respectively is DBSK = TVXQ/JYJ. Unfortunately they broke up after 7 years of going through those tough times in SME. No social media or they would have been huge. It's BTS time in the world and no one else can compare.

I think Tae was having flashbacks of any conflicts throughout the year, his 2 friends that commited suicide this year and both his grandparents who raised him for a big part of his life and everything he went through with the group of course. He truly deserves everything for all he has coped with

He lost his grandma back in like 2016, something definitely happened before going to malta to shoot bon voyage but thats none of our business to speculate, its his private life and i know he has the support system he needs if things get hard- the members, his family as well as his other close friends even staff ect. I dont know who 2 other friends u r talking abt that hes lost, u may be referring to jonghyun from shinee but correct me if im wrong though. And can i ask where do u know abt the 2 friends like where did that info come from cause i didnt know abt it💜 They all had tought year expecially in first half but its good to know that they discussed it amongst themselves and decided to continue and yeah they will have hard times thats part of life but they can overcome the hardships and continue to grow as people and musicians and im so proud of them
