Inspiration is definitely taken from the members' lives though, like the piano with Suga. The album is based on Demian and how they related to the story. So there is a bit of inspiration.

When #1 Begin came out, it dropped out of NOWHERE. We had noooo clue it was related to new music or a new album. Bts had been quiet and cooking and then suddenly dropped this horror, theater film on us. Some people guessed it was an album, but wasn't until Lie that we started putting the pieces together. We knew it was connected to INU, Prologue, and Run, but then we need it was new music for sure. We didn't get any subtitles back then and had to rely on translators. Then Readmys connected the quotes to Demian and then all sorts of theories exploded. It was an absolutely groundbreaking (still is!) way to gain attention and promote a new album. It was so artistic, theatrical. and creative. BTS remains untouchable when it comes to building ART.

haha cant wait till you guys ended up with BU SUMMARY with xceleste explanation...it will gonna make you all "ahhh this" "ah that"...haha they were just too genius to put this whole BU together with thier journey as an artist

the "2019 book" and "2020 book" are BU Notes Books released by BigHIt/BTS. These notes are also included in some of their albums and they comprise of the members/characters’ diary-like entries, which piece together the storyline in addition to the music videos and films. or rather, the mvs and films are actually more of an extension to these notes which are chronologically dated to show exactly when all the events take place with each character and the group as a whole.

19:20 this was explained not quite in a BOOK, but in the NOTES. There was a thing called "HYYH notes" and it was parts of the BU lore revealed in the form of little notes, they would come together with a Love Yourself series album if you bought one (an album). And obviously that is still part of the BU, so this is again not about the real Jimin, this is about the fictional character he portrays in the series, he just shares name with him.

Yeah but the notes were compiled into two actual books. There are a few notes that weren’t in the books and only in the albums however.

That was a HUGE spoiler in the Jimin's notes. What happened in the arboretum was a mystery that we had to piece together with the notes and we finally found out in the webtoon. At this point in wings they should just know that the arboretum in an important place to remember.

Something that I think gets missed frequently when people want to dive into the BU is keeping in mind the purpose they held for crafting this fictional narrative. While I think it is really fun and interesting to search for connections and the source material is really rich for media analysis, part of that should be keeping in mind what kind of message they're trying to communicate which is why I really loved what Summer said! Though the BU storyline is showing very specific situations, these fictional stories help to represent and explore the themes that they are interested in for each album, and which follow the period of life and growth they were in at the time. The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series is concerned with adolescence, growing up, fearing or accepting change and mourning the loss of what was, the coexistence of pain and beauty in our lives. All of those themes are things they were grappling with in real life (they talked a lot in Beyond the Story about this) and also shown in the stories from the corresponding BU content. During Wings, they were interested in themes of temptation, corruption, how we conduct ourselves in the world, how we come to terms with the choices we make, how we become the people we are, how we find our way again after being led astray. Again, these are things they were probably facing as they gained more success and entered a larger and more complicated sphere of the music industry. Thus, the tone of the BU is modified a bit to represent those new themes. So Summer is right, the tone is less nostalgic coming-of-age film and more modern thriller or horror. (There's also a bunch of visual references to certain styles of filmmaking and individual films throughout both eras, but I'm not sure how interesting or easy to follow that would be unless you're interested in the history of film as an art!) But ultimately, like all BTS music and MVs, the theme and the message is king and everything that goes into each project is meant to serve that in some way.

The book is "THE NOTES". there are notes in a albums of BTS until LY era ended, like diary entries from members in BU. BigHIt made all notes into a book series, with additional notes added.

I highly recommend watching the xCeleste Bts universe summary 2020 update! This will clear everything up, it’s long but we love the longer videos!

Marketing/advertising/pr on the highest level. Basically, the Prologue and the Wings short films were very artistic commercials to promote their upcoming album.

The Stigma falsetto by V is actually in the background in the actual song. Like you guys know.. we actual get the full impact of it.. "Live" !

Notice how they show V cutting his hair but that clip was from the danger mv which was way before hyyh. Also 'STIGMA' is written in grafitti in their debut mv No More Dream

I feel like that was a HUGE spoiler in the notes for Jimin that shouldn't have been given to you yet,. All that came later, and also, Admin said it was never revealed, but actually it is revealed later on what happened with Jimin and the boy. But I won't spoil it, that's in later notes. FYI! Jimin wasn't kidnapped, he was looking for shelter from the rain when he witnessed what he "presumed" to be the lil boys murder.

I like that BTS did the BU this dark and deep. Personally I think it’s much more genuine and realistic. If BTS was all rainbows and sunshine, and just bubbly positivity, it would come off fake or insincere. Personally I wouldn’t have fallen for them this hard if they were just forcefully positive. By exploring this darker side, it makes them so much more relatable and gives people hope. Even in their real lives the struggles they’ve been through and open about it and getting through it gives the fans comfort that life won’t always be smooth sailing, but you can get through dark times. Maybe this is why there’s more mature fans in the fandom. Because they explore darker topics. If they were like Barney or teen heartthrobs that only show their smiley happy self, they wouldn’t have garnered the diverse fandom they have today.

Absolutely agree. I joined during Run era and that mv was so poignant and captured youth in such a beautiful, but realistically dark, way. They showed something so raw and authentic that few others can emulate. I saw Dope mv first, but I became an Army because of Tomorrow, Rain, and all of their other darker, more relatable songs.

Completely agree. From Magic Shop: “I won’t say obvious things like “cheer up” but I will rather share with you my story”. (Doolset lyrics) I find Suga in particular is very good at delivering their “Life WILL suck, often, but not forever” messages with kindness but without dressing them up too much. Personally the song that drew me to “look into them seriously” was Fake Love *because* it wasn’t either the typical “I’m going to shrivel away if don’t want me” or the common “I hate you-you’re the worst-ugh”. It’s a heartfelt “I’ve tried but have realized this is doomed to fail”. It struck me as really mature and grounded. (Then Lie closed the lock and The Truth Untold threw away the key.)

I think I'm still a baby Army only starting to pay attention Jan 2022 and not becoming an Army until October 2022. The songs that made me start looking at BTS differently and not just your other poppy boyband were: I Need You, Born Singer Live, Truth Untold, Cyphers, Joke, Spring Day, Blood Sweat and Tears (with explanation), and 2019 MAMA performance. Then you add on the things they do in real life like the whole Busan Concert fiasco and then announcing their military enlistment right after... these things combined made me see them as more then just a face or entertainers.

I had fun watching them laugh about the Snicker bars in the Fake love video when they had not yet dived deep into the BU😂 But Alas!!!! Soon they won't be able to laugh about it anymore😭😭😭

Also, if i remember right he wasn't kidnapped?? He just witnessed the murder of a kidnapped kid while he was searching for shelter during the rain or something!! I agree. Jimin never actually saw with his own eyes the boy get murdered. He assumed the boy was because he ran when a person showed up to drag the boy away. I wish the admin had kept that quiet for now. Oh well. They’ll hear the correction when they watch Xceleste 😊

Also the boy wasn't actually murdered. He was kidnapped, tortured, and then released. One of the first times Jimin has a seizure was when he saw the boy again.

I've been an Army for the last 2 years and have a basic understanding of the BU and the contents related to it but going through everything in such detail with you all is so much fun. I'm learning so many new things and finding new perspective to things that I already new.

As other comments have mentioned, these fictional characters they each have are exactly that... fictional. They have nothing to do with BTS irl, the members might have gotten inspiration from this storyline itself or could have included personal talents/hobbies in the storyline (yoongi's piano, Jungkook's art skills, Jimin's contemporary dance, etc.) It also could tie a bit with the messages they were putting out at that time, bighit and BTS were really ahead of their time when they planned this all out.

18:45 Everything that happens in the BU is fictional. Don't connect it to the real life of the boys as you are just going to get yourselves more confused. The only resemblance between the BU characters and the boys is their appearance and their names. Besides that they are entirely different people that live in an alternate universe. Actually this is one reason why the actors that play in the BU kdrama are totally different people that don't resemblance the boys and have different names (the other reason being that BTS are not in their early 20s anymore). This way people wouldn't get confused and think this are real experiences or actions from the members.

Yeah guys, everything in this story is fiction, don't worry haha. As for the "Why?", well, artistic purposes, I guess? haha. This is very well-thought-out story, there's also books, and webtoons and I think they're also going to make a TV series about it. So, don't think about it as BTS members, think about it as if you were watching a movie :D (but the DVD is damaged and it goes back and forth and skips some parts so you have to fill in the missing parts in your head 😂😂😂😂)

just please remember that the members' stories from BU are just fictional because there are instances that new armys believe that jhope was abandoned by his mother and taehyung killed his father, i just found out that in tiktok that there are people who thought that BU is their real life story.

I'm starting to believe your summaries person never stopped to read and understand the BU and when you said you were gonna react to it she went running for a theory BU resume because some things she says are not that accurate... Like the phone call in Stigma is not the same as the prologue, like maybe you can be like you guys "oh it was him on the prologue so maybe.." but this phone call it's really when he got in jail and called someone that this I won't say and well this and that happens, but it's not the same per se, don't know if she didn't say because of Spoilers but after Lie everything is ok lol

The BU universe story actually ended on a cliff hanger in the “HYYH The Notes” second book in 2020. I hope they continue the BU and release a third book one day.

People who are saying that the painting was done by JK are not necessarily correct. He did not do the original painting that is used in this video. However, he recreated it to be used at a BTS Exhibition because the original was burned up in the video. There is a BANGTAN Bomb that shows him recreating it where he mentions that he doesn't know how the original artist created it.

Every character other than jin portrayed the problems that some of young generation faced..like mental unstability or insomnia (jhope), domestic violence (V), addiction (suga) etc. They focused young generation with this and leads to young forever in you never walk alone.. It's not something very hard to understand...some may give very difficult theories😂

Pay attention please, Daniel said they were told everything by their administrators and they mention in the last part of these three videos.

The books being referenced here are The Notes - The Most Beautiful Moments In Life. The Notes were first seen in the Love Yourself era albums which were like compact dairy entries from the members but continued to be a part of the MOTS: Persona and MOTS: 7 albums as well. The storyline was later extended and flourished when it was published in 2019/2020 in Korean, Japanese, English, and Spanish. Trust me army was confused when everything was slowly released but we slowly put everything together like a puzzle.

I got into BTS because of the BU, I watched Blood Sweat & Tears without any context and was so curious to know the meaning that I fell in the rabbit hole and eventually never left bc of their amazing personalities and artistry 💜 Love that you’re learning about it !^^

God, I love that you guys are really getting into the BU. I miss discovering this for the first time. We were making all kinds of theories and speculations, especially the people who couldn’t get their hands on the books or webtoons and just had the songs and videos. It’s a good thing you read the Summary of the book! To answer some of your comments/questions, Daniel is correct that they are just playing characters, not real life. Yes, it I V on the phone. No spoiler here but remember that there was the phone booth chained up as well. Wish the admin had not given away so soon,but Jimin was not kidnapped. He did see a young boy who was kidnapped and I won’t say more about that unless you find my reply to someone here. JK really painted that painting of the face and repainted it for this short so amazingly artistic he is! Good for you Summer on your intereptation of how BTS was able to include such deeper subject! 👏👏👏 I know it’s hard, but try your best to remember the things you have already seen now. The fact we watched those videos without knowing all the BU story(we just knew the books references not the characters backgraound) ...my favorite moments were when any video was released and had the BU mark and tons of ARMYs start making theories, but then BH publishied the "Notes" and none of the theories was 100% close to the real story....Still waiting for another part of the BU...I can't accept the ending.🤣

The jimin note your mod gave you was a spoiler. We don't find out about the that at all yet. also jimin didn't get kidnapped. he was hiding from the rain. and happened upon a kidnapping and murder of another child. (SPOILER ON READ MORE) The murdered child was the same one Jin brought home to hide and jin's dad gave the child up to someone, which led to the murder.

The child was actually not murdered. He's tortured but then released and doesn't remember anything. A big part of Jimin's guilt is that he was scared to go to the police and give information after the boy was found, because he maybe could have helped find the person who did it. Also, the Choi's kid thing is kinda interesting because there is a couple year gap between Jin's situation and Jimin's, so it's not certain it was the same child.

You are correct, this was my first comeback as ARMY and let me tell you, I had no idea what in the hell was happening. I had been listening casually for months and then Wings was announced, I bought the albums, I was up at the butt crack of dawn and watched the MV when it was first released and all the short films as well. I actually became an Army during that era. I stumbled upon BTS MVs like Fire, Run, I Need You which I loved. The comment sections were filled with ppl discussing the BU (I dont think it was called BU at that poont). So I watched the Wings short films and they were so creepy and intriguing to me. I read and watched everything I could find and I marked the release of Wings in my calender! 😅 so I was there when Blood, Sweat & Tears dropped. I had never seen anything like that before. I started following them on Twitter and YT so I wouldnt miss anything and... well the rest is history. They are just awesome 💜 Army 4 life 🫡😅
