Just for future reference, for the Wings short films find the videos with subtitles. Especially for Tae's video. It is important! People have also already told you the translations for this video. But I didn't see anyone translate what Joon wrote on the mirror. He put "We must survive " or I must survive". Something like. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. But it was about surviving.

Some translations for you guys here. No spoilers: I believe Tae on the phone in the beginning of the prologue say "Hyung I miss you" or "Hyung I want to see you". The Korean texts on the blank black screen at 6:38 says "You can smile as long as we are together". And then Jin near the bonfire shows them a developing photo of the beach and asks them if they all wanna go back to the beach again. Namjoon writes on the mirror "you need to survive".

1. "Hyung I miss you" and "Hyung I want to see you" are the same sentence in Korean. However, in fact, Tae says "Hyung, I want to see you now". Therefore, the translation of "wanting to see" is more fitting since Tae is calling Namjoon for emotional support after having killed someone... 2. There are three options: "You can smile as long as we are together" or "I/We can smile as long as we are together." I think the "I" or "We" is more fitting here, since it is about the 7 being happy when they are together 3. Namjoon's writing similarly either means "you need to survive" or "I/We need to survive". 💜

I am also 2013 ARMY. I am having such a good time watching this again. I’m so happy they are watching and only getting info that relates to what we originally had to work with. When you know the whole thing, it’s definitely not the same. And I also agree - Summer is onto Jin’s story.

In the wings era, remember that the lyrics are important, especially the solo songs from that album that narrate the short films.

this prologue video is missing an important scene. I don't know what exactly happened but there are two versions of this prologue. The one you watched has one last cut scene missing where Jin is looking at the pictures that RM took when Jin and Suga were in the truck but when he sees the pics, JIN was actually ALL ALONE the ENTIRE time.

i believe this was a reupload from bighit's side. i remember when this was released, it still has the last part with jin's scene. then they deleted it with the new reupload!! i don't remember when it was changed but it wasn't too long after they released the first version.

this is the time when they had to use their managers as extras and they had to use their managers and other staffs cars because they don't have enough budget. this is the time when they are struggling as individuals as well. one of my fav. bts era.... in 2025 they will release an album about HYYH. (HYYH 10th anniversary) they will release a drama about the whole HYYH as well. its called "YOUTH" it will be release this year or next year

About the prologue video : this type of video, you need to watch it with subs (bangtan subs has them). Cause the dialogue and sentences on screen are part of the story. And originally the prologue had an extra scene you can watch on the bangtan subs version (like 30 sec more at the very end)

And personally since I was here during that era, I watched the mv and videos and read the notes we had in each album at the same time. I know new reactors usually made the videos first and all the notes. It’s how you want. I know the notes give me some clues to understand better the videos without someone spoiling it (since everybody was on the same page in 2015) and more mysteries too no gonna lie

I don’t see it in the comments but this version of the prologue was cut and re uploaded. The original uploaded version had an end scene after the credits where it showed Jin alone in the car by the beach and he remembered the polaroid shot that RM took of him with Suga in the background at the gas station, but when he took it out of the glove compartment and looked at it, the photo only showed himself. This version may still be kept by some of the OG Army archivists.

Has anyone else noticed that the photo Jimin burns in the bathtub is the same photo Jin was showing at the bonfire? And the videos shown at the end of the mv are the videos and photos that Jin kept filming.

We re-watched all the MVs multiple times and theorized and had to wait months before the next MV came out. Then the theories shifted a little with the new details... I had spreadsheets! We had Theory Thursdays where we messaged others and discussed new ideas. It was a fantastic/fun time and one of the reasons that we became so close. Go watch the ending of Run again and look at the picture of all the boys with the truck... it's important! 💜

Whenever I see someone discovering B.U. I wanted to say how courageous these boys were in addressing topics that to this day people pretend don't exist and still suffer hate because of it. I like to say to those who are discovering that they always remember that they portray the stages of human development since debut and that sometimes our own development can create barriers that you won't understand if you don't accept that they are ages, genders, cultures and worlds. many different. You need to believe in reality but hold on to your dreams and that my life is certainly different from yours, and they teach us that to this day. It makes me sad when I see people who arrived now criticizing without knowing their story and making them sad when now could be the moment they finally have happiness. If you don't like their style, just go out and look for a group that is yours... there are, were and will still be groups for all tastes, but those who want to be understood stay with BTS and hope that they can finally be happy however they want. 💜💟 Note:. Every time I see V do the scene jumping off the scaffolding I laugh remembering an ARMY tried to dry all of our tears and made a short video of the guys waving and telling V to do a back flip. It was hilarious as it did lighten the mood I just can never get it out of my head even after all these years. Just like I'll always hear Jimin talk and think of Judy!

V's Dialogue in beginning: "Hyung I want to meet" so probably called the members to their "hideout" that is the place inside the forest in beginning Jin's dialogue to jhope while holding the polaroid: Should we go there? (asking from the polaroid. It has major significance afterwards to WHY exactly did he ask that question) Hope this helps💜

Not a spoiler but something to make note of....remember the pictures they keep showing, all 7 members by the truck, picture with Yoongi., etc. they will be important later. Yes they are paired for a reason. JK and Suga, J Hope and Jimin, RM and V. Nuff said

What I noticed in all this and what I understood was that everyone was happy together, but at some point things changed, Jin kind of remembers the good times, RM was addicted to cigarettes,That's why he always has the lollipop in his mouth, but at the end of the video we see the change from the lollipop to the cigarette, the other members are representing the emotion that each one is feeling individually. There are things I understand but I don't know how to explain.

You should definitely need to watch the xceleste explanation and the teaser of the drama of but of them but actors are the one in it soon😊❤.

Fun fact: there was another "version" of the Prologue Short Film uploaded first, which was later deleted for unknown reasons. The another version contained a post-credit scene with Jin alone in his car on the same beach as in this version, opening the glove box in his car to retrieve that polaroid picture RM took of him and Suga. He's all smiley and relaxed, but when he looks at it, but he's actually alone in the picture, almost like Suga disappeared from the pic and his smile falls. As a HYYH army it feels like I’m reliving my baby army days all over again and it makes me very emotional 😭💜

Jungkook and Jin in every MV, there's kind of a complicit look, if you notice Jungkook in the other MV and almost getting run over by the same car that Jin is always driving, and in the last MV, Jin and whoever is Driving and Jungkook looks back

that yoonkook fight scene always breaks my heart :( no but i wish i was an army during hyyh era like i can only imagine the chaos of forming all the theories. loving seeing you guys piece together the storyline you guys have picked up on things so quickly already!

True, but because I know the storyline, it’s not sad to me, but explains something without me saying anything to spoil it for CCW.

I remember this was the era that solidified me staying with BTS for a looooong time, like i was already a fan since finding War of Hormones and was a part of the crowd that helped get I Need U to 1 mill views, but there was something about the Prologue and Run mv that REALLY made me realize Im in this for life 🙌🏾💜

All i can say is, Jin really played the most important role in the BU storyline. Guys, you must remember all these things and the MVs that u've watched becoz you still have a looooooonngg way to go. Goodluck on ur journey. 💜🫂

I love the Lost Boys vibe of the era. I was a baby ARMY when the BU came out, and trying to figure out what was going on was crazy. The boards and YT were filled with different takes on it.

BTS discography is more like daily life emotions, stages that 1 may relate easily. Emotions that needs healing thru music (Big Hit's core value...)

It amazes me how did they decide to create a whole story and how they were able to develop it through several songs and mv´s. The sad thing is knowing that many teenagers and many people is suffering similar stuff than this boys in the story. Depression, home violence, mental illness, ....... Hope everybody who is suffering can reach for help and get better.

Experiencing this real time when this was released, armys are rlly cramming for infos too. It's a great feeling when u reached the stage where everything finally makes sense and you can put this and that together. Glad that you guys r taking your time to dive into it in this way.

i remember when BU was first introduced and hyyh started, a lot of theories were made and they all made soooo much sense and the details were so insane. i was waiting for you guys to notice the ot7 shot with the car then Jin was gone on the polaroid picture of the same shot. That says a looooooot. Also, watch all their wings short films as well.

No hate at all but it kinda feels like your admin needs an admin lmao there are a lot more things they can point out to you after the vid without spoiling things such as jin not being in the photo at the end, what the hell the members are saying if they’re not gonna provide videos with English subs, certain clues to look out for so they can go further in their theories. It might be hard for someone who wasn’t hardcore into the BU to help others understand it

I don't know if you noticed but on the last part of Run MV where Jimin in the Bathtub, Jimin is holding a picture. Before that, there is a picture that is posted. They were complete in that picture but when it was flashed back to the picture that Jimin is holding, someone is missing. Watch the cut part of prologue and then watch the last part of Run MV, you will have a little idea of Jin's pivotal role in BU. 😊

I would love for you to watch the behind/making of the videos/mv, not so much for the story but more for you to see more things and get a understanding of how they did it since I thinks it helps with getting that, plus you get to see them going from 'character they are playing' to 'being they silly self again'.

22:57 "may" be a spoiler - . . . . . . read somewhere that in this scene the people in the car cannot actually see them, hence why they don't come out to stop them. for the people in the car, its only jin blocking the road with his car.

In the official On Stage: Prologue video there is a scene that was deleted in an reupload. No one is sure why they reuploaded it without this scene added. 🧐But if you look for another version of the video that has subs online, from a fan channel, it was subbed when the deleted scene was there so it is included. I definitely recommend watching it.💜

Next year in the 10th anniversary of HYYH guys.. and also our boys returning.. so excited about Jin coming in less then 4 months. March is midway..😢❤

Run, lyrically is about moving forward despite the scars. All the music of this album mirrors BTS in life struggles at the time. Sometimes feeling hopeless, on edge (Butterfly), loving and hating their situations (I need U), feeling like everything is about to collapse at any moment (house of cards) but happy together and determined to run forward despite the scars (Run) etc. There is an interview with Bang PD where he talks about how the music in all of the BU mirrors emotions they were going through at every point along their own journey, Wings, HYYH, Love Yourself. You definitely need to go back and watch the Wings short films to fill in some of the gaps.

every time I watch the hyyh contents, I feel this constant longing for memories that I never experienced. it hits close but very far to home somehow. very excited about you guys discovering the whole storyline CCW!

I know someone already mentioned that the Prologue version in Big Hit's channel is missing an important scene where Jin was alone inside the car getting picture that Namjoon took while thet were in the gas station. You need to watch it becaue it's so important. There is a complete version with eng sub that was uploaded by an ARMY. You will know the whole context of the prologue. Every picture and little conversation that has in the prologue MV is really important in the story line.

15:34 no cause you don't understand how SCARY this was back then, the way the music suddenly cut off like that? Its scary because it wasn't always like that! Before 2018, The music kept playing until it ended and there was even an extra scene but suddenly it was edited like that. It even started a whole thing on Twitter called BTS Glitch Party where we would find weird glitches in BTS ' music videos.

i think u miss an important part that is in the final after the credits the photo that is take in the beach are all seven but the photo that jimin have on the bathtub is missing jin ... is an important point !!! you have to pay attention an each little detail lol everithing have a meaning !!! Jin has a very important role in BU, every details including the polaroid pictures need to be noted. If you want to understand the BU, I suggest you check the ‘Save Me’ webtoon and their MVs, VCRs, etc. They’re all connected. YoonKook, RM&V, Hobi&JM needs to be noted as well.

Now that you guys are starting the "BU”, I just wanted to let u know that there’s a Kdrama (Korean TV show) releasing, that’s been in development and pushed back for years. That is based on, and tells the entire story of the Bangtan Universe. It’s called "Begins Youth" or just "YOUTH” I think. It dives deeper, and into more detail abt the "BU" storylines, and originally BTS’s names were gonna be used as the main characters (Namjoon, Taehyung, etc.) but they decided to change them and just make up new characters for the drama. But the storyline still remains the same. U guys should definitely checkout the official trailer if ur interested👌

Just a random (not so random) fact but those little books called "Notes" that come with some of BTS's albums are like diary entries from the boys related to the BU story. They are not in order and you have to put them together with all the info you get from the MVs, highlight reels, "Notes Book", webtoon, a website (that I'm not going to name to avoid spoilers), VCRs from their concerts/performances and a mobile game in order to understand the full story. We are still in the middle and we hope the kdrama that is coming helps... plus they confirmed there will be a celebration for HYYH 10th aniversary next year, so lets wait and see. After you finish this journey, I sugest you watch the XCeleste explanation video (the updated summary). She does an amazing job of getting all of that info in one video and explaining the timeline and all the little details. Cant wait to continue this journey with you guys. (Sorry for the long comment).

I would recommend at the end of this you watch XCeleste’s video on the HYYH timeline. Although some points are still debating amongst fans, she has the most up-to-date video that features the entire time spanning all videos, books, and media. But the story has never been complete so who knows what could happen in the future 😭

Extra bit of BTS lore worth noting, if it wasn't in your summary: the name of this album series isn't Korean. It's Chinese. 花様年華 translates from Chinese as "flowering years," meaning the time of life when youth and hope are in fullest bloom, and Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa is Romanized Chinese, not Korean. The phrase can also be understood as "the most beautiful time of life," which is of course what the albums are called in English. Koreans continued to use Hanja (Chinese characters used to write words in the Korean language) well into the 20th century before fully transitioning to their own alphabet, Hangeul, and the Bangtans are the right age to have learned Hanja in school. So while "in the mood for love" doesn't really make any sense in connection to BTS' albums, 花様年華 ("flowering years") absolutely does. With both Wong Kar Wai's film and with the story that BTS is telling in their albums, 花様年華 is used in irony. Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung's characters in the film are in their 30s, past the first optimism and bloom of youth, and their story is full of bitterness, regret, and yearning. The characters in the BU are still very young, but the shape of their lives is formed around bitterness, regret, and yearning as a result of each character's life and circumstances. Both stories have an element of missed opportunity and a hope of second chances. The reason for using the title of the film, 花様年華, to reference those feelings and ideas will be even clearer when you learn more about the story being told in the BU.

29:59 yeah and she didn't say anything on the summary, I don't think its a spoiler to say like, what Namjoon wrote on the mirror "We must survive" because it'll appear again and it'd be cool if you already knew and be like "oh remember that?", or like say a little run down what happened, like the picture Taehyung was holding was a WOMAN and a baby, anyways just think the admin could have said more if they didn't give you the one with eng subs and you literally didn't understand anything they said or that was written.... I like the summary is just for "important" things and doesn't chew anything for you but i think a summary is giving a little more, so maybe if you missed a little thing like something in a picture it'd be in the summary and you'd be like "ooh it had that too?" then maybe come back and you'll notice idk, i think not everything can be considered a spoiler

Yeah like without giving spoilers just mention the scenes that they probably missed. Like at the end of prologue the Polaroid had one member missing, etc.

I don’t think BTS is the pioneer in putting a storyline in your albums. But I think they’re very consistent in accomplishing that. They are a multimedia group. They use what audiovisual platforms have to offer very well. I think this is the differential of this universe built by them.

I became an army bc of BU, the first BTS mv I watched is I need U then BS&T and I literally spend 3 days watching explanation videos and trying to understand the meaning of everyting, and I end up reading philosophy books to come out with theories

Thank you guys for these reactions!💜 I’m sure you guys are probably going to watch Xceleste’s BU explain videos after you’ve reacted to at least all the BU videos, but I just want to remember you guys that her explanation is still technically just a theory. Of course she did an incredible job at compiling all the BU content out at the time, but she also would take somethings that aren’t official BU content and connect it to the official content(An example was when she connected the Film Out MV as BU related, when in reality it was specifically made for a Japanese drama). I just wanted to remind everyone that none of us know the official story because it’s still on going.

Being an army since 2014, It was such a whirlwind during hyyh. All I know is that hyyh era connected with me on such a deeper level that I felt my connection with BTS grow stronger with each passing day. I love watching your BU plunge and I love hearing what you all have to say about it!

As a 2013 ARMY, it took us months and years to decipher everything in the BU and still be confused of everything since these includes VCRs, MV (Both Korean ans Japanese, short films, books, webtoon and a game. Enjoy the ride and enjoy deciphering different clues as you move on with the BU. Thank you for doing this. 💜

jin is basically trying to find ways to save them all from their struggles and find ways to keep them all together at the same time while also facing his own struggles because of this. In one of the scenes of the run music video, you can see him building a house of cards which can represent their relationship with one another, but then someone knocks it down and he stops and pauses and thinks about like "oh really wow i can't really save it from falling" and then later on when the mirror shattered, you see the cards on the ground. Also at 26:05 i don't know if you noticed but in the photo Jin is there , but when jimin is holding the photo in his hand Jin isn't there.

@CCWReact - You need more. Keep in your notes a couple of common images: Water and Fire. Think about what is associated with each. That will help you. I love the BU - absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And yes, you are right to think that creating the BU allowed them to explore topics and feelings not really allowed in the traditional Idol music avenue.

There are some concert VCRs way back in late 2014 early 2015 that you guys havent seen. Particularly scenes when they were schoolmates, the basement/storage room, the teacher, etc. Just know there are BU videos that are not in MV format.. 😊

do look at the lyrics of solo songs in the BU area which are kind of narrate the short films. also please keep track of all the polaroids shows who is in it and who is missing
