There is an explanation video out there on this song. The stork - crow tit thing is based on a Korean idiom "the crow tit will break its legs trying to walk like a stork". It is about trying to be something you are not. A crow tit which has very short legs attempts to be like a stork which has long legs.

Yes but they are CHALLENGING the saying. They are saying yes we WILL walk the way we want and not be put down as crowtits

@@WE__BTS they’re technically saying whichever version you choose to interpret it as. one thing i’ve always loved about BTS is they often don’t define their songs meanings themselves, leaving it to the listener to interpret it in accordance to their own lives and experiences. So while the idea of the song is generally the same across the board, the choreo and lyrics could have different meanings to different people 😁

Crow tit, a bird, with its short legs, personify young people in todays economy..the stork with its long legs, personify boomers or folks from the booming economy in the prior generation. The message: don't try to do what your elders have always done who now expect you to do tje same to be "successful". Essentially, work with what you have (short legs). It's unreasonable to do the work of a stork (longer legs) when you can do many other amazing things differentky with what you have and are capable of on your own terms. It's such an anthem for young ppl and a push back against Koreas rigid expectations of what success "should" look like. You are correct that DKDKTV has an explained video so do watch at your leisure. Perhaps you might do an "explained series" where you revisit? All at once!? This is so fun and yall are doing GREAT. [Edit: If you have many international viewers, sharing messages of not overdoing it, taking a rest, eating well/plenty is a message of love, care and support. Translation, - it's okay to receive and smile as so many care about your joy, happiness, success and health 💜]. With that, rest well and eat lots 💜 be healthy 😊

You all are missing that this isnt just about generational differences but also CLASS differences. Check the lyric translations before you try to explain the lyrics to others bc you are watering them down too much

Hey! Fun fact: the choreo in this performance is a lot more than just hot dudes flexing. The leg lifts and hip thrusts actually represent the older “boomer” generation and how they piss on and eff over younger people. The lyrics that accompany those parts of the choreo are lines said from the perspective of the “storks”, telling younger people to work harder and stop complaining about their struggles. Also! The translation of “crow tit” is pretty much cemented in ‘canon’ but it’s incorrect. Bapsae means parrotbill. The bird in the original Korean saying is parrotbill. And the picture that now comes up when you google “bapsae” is actually a long-tailed tit, not a crow tit OR a parrotbill.

You got half of it. It's not just generational differences. It's also about class differences (represented by the different spoons). The hip thrusts dont represent boomers. They rep saying FU! to the storks (which are boomers AND the rich)

What distinguishes BTS from the K Pop pack, certainly that of 3rd generation K Pop, is the fact they are involved in the writing of much of their own music and are not afraid to express opinions and messages even if it is well outside the mostly corporate driven Idol platform. As opposed an abundance of songs in the standard lanes of listening simply providing idiosyncratic K Pop circus as many groups do, BTS delivers a disproportionate number of songs with actually have something to say, to rally around, or simply to have you ponder on. Other groups absolutely should be enjoyed for what they are, but BTS in my opinion should most often be dissected as well as enjoyed if this group is to be fully appreciated.

Their song has so much meaning. It may sound fun and danceable but behind it all is a deeper message...it's like that in all of their songs. There are some that has english translations that would make you appreciate their music more.

Just like Spring Day, you need to hear Bapsae explained, best is by DKDK TV (Koreans); BTS’s lyrics are deeper than the simple English translation with lots of Korean cultural references.

This song was almost banned in Korea for their criticism of the boomer generation and the silver spoons at the top of the food chain. The hip thrusts were a huge FU to those holding the youth down. DKDKTV do an excellent job of explaining. Stay well

Baepsae is an allegory raging against the oppression of Korean youth (crow tits which a is a delicate bird) by older generations (storks), a long and deep rooted generational divide that BTS has always stood up against (No More Dream, No, etc) since their inception.

I came for BTS but stuck around because y’all took us to church! It’s amazing how your calling is never easy, like you said, it’s a grind, but it’s fulfilling. Personally I’m so thankful that I am able to do something that I love for my “job”, during the stressful and busy seasons I’m able to push through knowing that what I’m doing is my calling. The way you are both able to focus on your goals and stay humble while you hustle is part of the reason so many people are drawn to your channel, we can see you are putting in the work.

BTS is very intentional with their lyrics and messages. Generational rift between old and young. Old feels young are lazy and not putting in effort. Young feel the prices for homes and being able to be successful and even get married with a family is out of reach.

Hello. I am 68 years old. I enjoy your BTS reactions & I was about to donate, but the comment about not wanting your wife or mother to work? That threw me off. It is such a neanderthal thing to say. I had a successful career, retired, raised two children. The eldest is a firefighter. My husband supported my choices. I admit that I am disappointed in you guys.
