Onew sang Rainy Blue at their concert after his long hiatus. He had a surgery on his vocal cords. Basically removal of vocal polyps (legions on the vocal cords) and vocal fold mucosa reconstruction. Basically the surgery can cause your voice to change or you will not be able to perform like you used to vocally. Apparently Onew didn’t even speak for 3 months after the surgery to make sure his vocal cords recovered. He apparently was also stressed in the chance he might not be able to sing anymore. Rainy Blue was written by a Japanese artist who had the same surgery as Onew and it was his comeback into the industry. So Onew chose that song to cover for his solo performance during their Japanese concert because he went through the same thing and had the same struggles. It was his first solo performance since his surgery

Also, the Japanese singer that wrote the song was never able to sing it because of the surgery. He couldn't sing again. It was even more meaningful for Onew since that could've happened to him too.

@@Yetti. one of the reasons he cried at the end of the song was cause he was so happy to be able to still sing even after the surgery and that his voice was still going through the whole consert💜 (side note: if you havn't seen it yet, find the 40 second note of his😏)

Everyone in SHINee is very deep. They are all very intelligent people and also very wise. Key said that if only two of the members are together, they tend to be quiet and talk about deep, serious stuff. As oppose to all of them being together, which is loud and chaotic. Fun fact: All SHINee members have a Master's Degree under their name. I'll search up compilations for you that would help you know them better as people and artist.

true. another reason why shinee was held in such high esteem from the get go was because as a group, they showcase the core ideals to korean and asian culture a a default so the adults approved and theyre so fun and crazy the kids loved them.

@@hiddlespearean I honestly didn't plan to be in a fandom. I was just content to watch video clips of Taemin's performances. But then I saw a couple of those sweet and funny compilations haha. I said I'd stop with Taemin. But then I saw I saw Who Waits For Love stage where they were all wearing black and fell in love with the song and choreo. And right after, their emotional performance of An Encore in Radio Star, which made me cry. I remember thinking, _that's it! I'm in._

we joke that Shinee is so well behaved and scandal free because the members know never to cross the line. minho and taemin being the maknae line had been ttakbam-ed before and tasted blood. ONCE. never again. no wonder they studied so well. Despite jjong and minho being the muscly ones, they all say Onew has the monster strength. but he is clumsy and easily trips on air. his scandal about touching a lady while falling drunk was cleared because witnesses clarified precisely that, he tripped and flailed, it was an accident. but he is even shyer and hesitant since, in case you're wondering why he seems reserved and awkward even now

@@Yetti. Yeah actually if u are a fan u would know how nice Onew is to everyone. His scandal effected him deeply because it was in 2017 and he stopped all of his SHINee activities and he got a lot of hate from people without even knwoing the truth and sadly their last concert with Jonghyun Onew wasn’t with them and they held the concert as 4 . Jonghyun passed away in December 2017 and the first appearance of Onew after his scandal was at his funeral. People were shook about how Onew looked and everyone was scared for Onew’s mental health because Onew already had depression before and people were so worried about him thinking he is blaming himself for what happened to Jjong. All the members and everyone kept an eye on him when they promoted together in 2018 . He changed so much and he lost his confidence and u would see the members being worried about him . Key even said hyung u should eat more u lost so much weight. Like sometimes i feel so sad when i see Onew because we know he had to go through a lot. His personality changed so much. He is really camera shy and u can feel him feeling anxious in front of the cameras. He is really comfortable when he is with his members but without his members he gets really awkward. He is such an amazing and strong leader. He is so so caring to his members and u would always see him keeping his eyes on his members

Recently Studio Choom released their behind the scene for don't call me performance, Key told him to act naturally and be confident when he is infront of the camera because they felt that he loses his confidence overtime. Onew being laid back with his expression its kinda feel sad tbh. We miss his hilarious laughs and onew condition thats what make himself,him.

@@eydeguy8861 Yeah honestly every time i see him like this i feel like crying. i feel that more because him and Jonghyun were very close in age i feel that Onew depended on Jonghyun a lot sometimes and they shared a lot of things togather. Their bond is truly beautiful like i remember Jonghyun always laughing at Onew jokes.

This video brings me back some beautiful memories of Jonghyun. Most of the kpop songs from that generation were written by him. There are few performers like him who both write and produce music. He was talented, funny, kind and very caring. His relationship with the other members was exceptional as he was always smiling and making others smile. He was ( and still is) an Angel and he will always be remembered.

So glad you watched the group's guide. The very same channel also has their individual guides (cause they're amazing like that) to which have more updated clips. Taeminie aka baby cheese is actually an introvert person especially around people other than his members, manager and close friends. He was even bullied and harassed in school during their early years so the members personally escorted and walked him to school. He is basically raised by the members since they lived together at such young ages - they mentored, coached, cooked, cleaned, shopped and even do his ironing for him. That's why he automatically turns into a spoilt brat around his members because they let him get away with everything and often clean up after his mess because that's how much they love, adore and cherish him. He is and will forever be a baby in their eyes. So usually Taemin often is the quieter one in shows and the rest are the lauder ones but once he opens his mouth, he'll be savage and roast the members. But on stage, he literally is a seductive, charismatic and majestic monster haha! Oooo they are indeed variety kings. SM often sends SHINee first to any pilot shows because SHINee will always know which one will work out haha. And in case you wondered why minho is a bit stricter with Taemin, it's partly because when he was a trainee he had to stay with Super Junior. He was their baby taemin but they were strict with him. That's also why taemin says he doesn't share his hyungs cause he likes being the baby

If you want to get to know Taemin you should definitely watch his Taemlog (which started last May and is still an ongoing vlog only it’s now appearing pretty randomly, from time to time, but was a regular thing in May and June). Taemin also had a great reality show called Rare Taem, which was also last year and was absolutely endearing. You can learn a lot about his cute, adorable and a little shy personality off stage by watching these. But it’s just one side of Taemin. There’s another - a super professional, absolutely passionate and very serious side of him when it comes to his art and he is absolutely fascinating as an artist! You should watch all his behind the scenes of Never Gonna Dance Again album - it’s incredible to watch him talk about his work and working process, his interviews are super deep and interesting. Also not many people know, but he has a brilliant brain. He was a medalist of math olympiads as a kid and he still has an amazing skills in solving different puzzles. Overall he is a fascinating and incredibly talented man.

That is so true! I first saw Taemin in SuperM and loved him. Thanks to him I began to search more about who he was and found out he was in another group called Shinee. Since then I’m a big fan of Taemin and now Shinee.

SHINee are an R&B contemporary group. (The font is just weird, so when they typed R'n'B it makes it look like RetB). The reason why the audience screams so loud and Onew cries during this performance of "Rainy Blue" is because this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and the fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. ("Rainy Blue" is a cover of a Japanese song, which Onew has kind of made famous internationally. Onew is singing in Japanese. It was wrote by a Japanese singer/songwriter who also had the same surgery as Onew, but unfortunately, the songwriter was never able to sing as well again.) Onew's performance of "Nessun Dorma" was performed in 2016 as a solo stage during one of SHINee's Japanese concerts, but it is not the first time Onew has performed this song, he has been performing it since SHINee's early days. Whether it's a performance from 2011 or this one from 2016, there isn't much difference -- his voice is a little more mature in 2016, but it was still impressive from the beginning. Onew is not trained in opera, but he had been training as a singer for more than 10 years when this performance took place, and he has an amazing range and understanding of his voice. He is also a musical stage actor, so he understands how to project his voice to the back of the theater and he knows how to tell a story through the performance of the song. One of the reasons why Key chose to come up with funny answers for that questionnaire is the fact that this Weekly Idol episode was part of their 10th anniversary promotions and so they have been on the show many times and had to fill out that same questionnaire almost every time, and they have answered those same questions dozens of more times for other variety shows. So, after that many years, it has become boring just to give a straight answer. What's particularity notable about the fact that Key said he is from New York, is the fact that he is fluent in English -- almost to the point you would think he is a native speaker. So, if you didn't know him, you might think he really was from New York. The amazing thing about Key's high note in "Like a Fire" is that if you listen to the original version on their album, he doesn't have a high note in that song. But during that performance, which is from their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul, he, out of nowhere, decided he wanted to add a high note. It's almost as if he decided he wanted to try and outdo Jonghyun who is the group's high note master and the one who has the high note right before Key in the song. :D That's Key's classic diva attitude. One slight error in this guide: Minho is actually the MAIN rapper of the group and Key is a sub-rapper. (To say Minho is the second rapper makes it sound like he isn't the one that raps the majority of the time in SHINee's songs.) Minho is credited with writing almost all of his rap sections in SHINee songs, which is proof that he is the main rapper. Minho will have songwriting credits on almost every one of SHINee's songs because he wrote the rap section. Also, Minho more than sings SOMEtimes, he sings just about as much as he raps in SHINee songs. He has the deepest voice out of all the members -- which is why he was made the main rapper -- so SHINee's songs don't often highlight his singing in the same way as the other members, but he is part of all of SHINee's harmonies. Also, by virtue of the fact that he is part of SM, means he also has an amazing voice. When you really get to know SHINee, you will see Minho has just as much vocal range as the rest of the members, and that is why SHINee's five-part harmonies are so outstanding. Minho is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, swimming and diving, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. There is a reason why Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. His dad is a minor league soccer player, coach and manager for a living. That is also Minho's classic iconic laugh. He laughs with his whole being and he lights up the room while doing it. In that same clip, Jonghyun fell down because, if you see that full clip, you will see that Minho was spraying water with a spray bottle and the floor was all wet. Before Jonghyun walked in the room the other members were playing around sort of making fun of a commercial they did for a Japanese ramen noodle company where they were each given a different dance move that they used to crush the noodles. However, Taemin and Onew are the ones that have most often been tapped to fill Jonghyun's parts in most of their old songs, and even the parts that I think would have been his parts in their new songs. Taemin learned how to be a singer from Jonghyun, so his voice and vocal range is most like Jonghyun's, that is why he is the one to fill in for him most often. Jonghyun wrote IU's "Gloomy Clock." He also wrote EXO's "Playboy" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already." Jonghyun wrote "Pretty Boy" specifically for Taemin and it ft. Kai from EXO as the rapper. Plus, as you know, he wrote dozens of songs that became SHINee's songs, as well as all of his own solo songs. SHINee's cover of Lady Gaga's "Just dance" was a special stage at a KBS award show in 2010. If you notice, that last clip of SHINee playing charades, and Taemin trying to guess "suitcase," was at a fan meeting in Japan. So, they were all speaking Japanese. As you can see, SHINee are all fluent in Japanese. They are just as popular as Japanese artists as they are Kpop artists. Most Japanese people don't even consider them foreign artists. SHINee debuted as Japanese artists in 2011 and they spend about 50% of their career in Japan doing events and concerts, etc. For every Korean album SHINee also has a Japanese album, but their songs aren't just remakes of their Korean songs, the majority of their Japanese songs are exclusively in Japanese. And yes, Obama actually talked about following SHINee at a press conference while he was president of the United States. That clip is 100% real. This Guide video was made in 2018, so to update the information, the other members of SHINee -- Onew, Key and Minho -- now also have solo careers. Onew and Key had their solo debut right before they went off to the military in 2018 and they both have solo albums. Minho also released his first solo single "I'm Home" that same year, right before he enlisted in the military as well. As you discovered, SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach. You really should check out some of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear.

The funny thing about Onew singing Opera is that he is not classically trained. He did it on a whim purely to see if he could actually do it. j These last few years, Taemin has done a 180 regarding his personality and has really come out of his shell. In the earlier days of SHINee, Taemin would barely speak and had to be prompted by his hyungs to talk during interviews and variety shows. Once he began his solo career in 2014, he was forced to speak up because he didn't have his brothers to do it for him. Gradually, he came out of his shell. However, the greatest change in him came once his hyungs returned from the military. During their time in the military, while Taemin was promoting solo, he would constantly say to his fans and in interviews how very much he missed his hyungs. The minute they returned, starting with Onew, Taemin transformed into this giddy, excited, and happy bean that just can't stop talking or smiling. It's so heartwarming to see. Jonghyun is special and there will never be anyone else like him. He holds a permanent place in the hearts of SHAWOLs and SHINee themselves. That weird font stands for R&B; not RetB. It's confusing. SHINee's ballads are exceptional. My favorite Kpop ballad prior to discovering SHINee was "House of Cards". SHINee's "Farewell My Love" totally wrecked that for me and then Taemin's "Under My Skin" further buried it. They have five very distinctive voices which, when the come together, produce heavenly harmonies. In their solo work, they will often harmonize with themselves at different ranges and even that is golden, like Taemin's "Mystery Lover" and Key's "One of Those Nights". Then there's the vocal acrobatics Taemin does with one of his new songs, "Impressionable". Oh, so many good songs and performances...... I think poor Taemin was so stunned and shocked by what Jjong and Key were doing that his mind went blank. SHINee truly is the original chaotic group. I can't wait until you get to see that side of them. It will make you fall in love with them even more. If you really want the messy side of them, then react to anything where they are all together. On a side note, Taemin has been avidly trying to learn English (Key is the only one who can speak English fluently and corrects him.) because of SuperM. So, he has been trying out his English on us via IG, VLIVE, and Bubble. We are actively tutoring him. His very first favorite English word is "adorable", which he consistently mispronounced as "odorable" which sounds like a Korean word that means stinky; bad odor. This created quite the memes and hilarity during their first get-together after an SM meeting and now a running joke with them/us. The boys tease him unmercifully and are actively trying to find him a wife. So his name pops up a lot. They were initially an experimental project group. They were made to try out concepts, choreography styles and even candidates for variety shows. They thrived and the rest is history.

One thing I want to make really clear while watching this is that jong was really happy with Shinee but he needed medical care for his mental health and it was too difficult for him to get the right care in Korea at the time. But after his passing things have really changed in the industry, not entirely but little by little. More idols are taking time away and being allowed to spend time with family. I know that that is directly due to Jjong’s situation. I’m glad they’re taking it more seriously. I think he definitely saved a lot of idols that came after him! 💎💚💙

I loved seeing Shinee through your eyes. Made me fall in love with them again (although i have never fall out love). I would like to recommend to you girls a song titled Breathe. Please go through the subtitle. This song was written by Jonghyun for Lee Hi. But covered also by a lot of singers. I listened to it everytime I missed Jonghyun

Wow, look Yetti wearing Taemin's colours. and has Ella crossed over to Onew now? Contemporary R&B, but at the time they were doing retro RnB the RetB font thingy became a thing. The shinee world shooting star or Shating star. ONE T. these guys...ooyyy i cant even 🤣. the Obama thing is real, Onew did opera and tap dance out of curiosity, he wasnt formally trained. shinee was already planning a 10 year anniversary celebration during the end of 2017 but when it happened they almost didnt renew. Jjong's mum and sis talked to them about continuing so that his legacy will be about his life and not his death. LSM had them go for counselling and he personally renegotiated terms for Shinee. The despair their fans were going through also made them decide to honour the previously planned events. they went through horrendous backlash by haters accusing them of profitwering off his death. but they grieved together with shawols in Osaka that first night and came through it with renewed promise to us that they wouldnt abandon us and we wouldnt abandon them. there used to be videos of that night's concert, but were later deleted out of respect. no one wants to showcase onew hitting himself in the head to avoid breaking down and minho bawling with thousands of fans also crying. we have the second Osaka night and the tokyo ones which was sweeter, the boys were in better control of their emotions. That was a painful time but in deleting these videos the most beautiful moment though was lost, that when they couldnt sing, shawols gently sang to them and got them going again. this happened in Korea too i think. it was cathartic for us who were grieving alone to see our fellow shawols sharing our grief. Every fandom loves their group, but them being that young and going through that? for a long time we were touchy. some still cant help feeling hurt so they often dont mention his name openly but 5hinee is always showing Blingers they're the biggest blingers too. It's like a marvel easter egg for us to see how they do it. Poor Minho and his dibidis. it got so bad that KEY of all people spoke up in his defense, you know it bad when key is openly siding with ming. of all the beautiful raps minho wrote, the dibiddis aint one of them. He was barely 16 and even then he knew it was awkward af and we certainly learn that his was better off writing his own. but he full on committed to doing it as we know. Poor boy cuz that ain't ever gonna be forgotten. Visual minho is actually not photogenic. Better in real life. As is his voice which is so deep, Onew says it sounds as if it's coming from the bottoms of his soles. And SM told him to speak in a higher pitch so as to fit the cute guy next door image better. which is a shame, cuz his real voice ? use headphones when you watch key waterskiing with minho in key's knowhow.

@@Yetti. yes. Taemin official colour is yellow though he hates it and prefers black. Onew green Key pink and Minho blue although he switches around with Jjong's red. Minho bought the mics used for their last japan concert together as a 10th anniversary gift. He switched out his in ears to commemorate Jjong by using black with a moon and Poet/Artist on it. He has a new one made but still with that inscription. That's a sentimental boy. Taemin used his Mic everywhere and as testament to how hard he worked during their hiatus, the plating wore off but he had it replated without the yellow band for this cb. Jjong has written books for kids and poetry. When he was a DJ he used to turn the letters he got into songs and sang it back to the listeners. it was said that he left hundreds of unfinished songs and melodies to Shinee.

Whenever I find a new group it always starts with an "oh no, they're good..." and down the rabbit hole I go again.

I feel like someone will have written this out already but I'm not reading all the comments. But here's some backstory to Jonghyun's solo career and how it ultimately changed the band. In 2014, Taemin debuted as a soloist. One of the songs on his first mini album was written by Jonghyun, who had already written a few things for SHINee over the years and was already contributing to other artists. At around this time preparations were made for Jonghyun's own solo debut, and he had a lot of creative input into the album. He wrote the lyrics to all six tracks, and the music for three of the songs. One of the songs he didn't write the music to, Crazy, was chosen as the debut single. A few days before the album came out, he teased the first track on the album and leaked it, which was one he DID write the music for--Deja-Boo. I think this was done purely just to excite fans. The thing was, people ATE DEJA-BOO UP. SM had to backtrack and say actually Jonghyun was gonna have two debut singles, and they had to rush out a music video for it which was just an edit from his debut showcase they layered the track over. It's very clear they weren't intending to promote Deja-Boo because even in the music video, all the promo in the back says JONGHYUN CRAZY. The success of Deja-Boo in January of 2015 meant that when writing was happening for SHINee's fourth album, Odd, later that year, one of his songs--View--was ultimately selected as the single from the album. Odd was a turning point in their career because it was the first time they had significant creative control (this is also the album and tour where Key began giving input as to how they would dress, coming up with the look for the View video, and ultimately designing costumes for their subsequent tour). View is also an interesting song to look at because if you look at SHINee's line distributions, in general Jonghyun always got the majority of the individual parts. But if you look at View, it's really evenly distributed, and that was intentional on his part, to try to showcase every member. There's a good overview somewhere where he's going into the parts of View and gets as specific as "well this part was written for Key because he speaks English very well and with an American accent, and I knew if he sang this part in Korean with an American accent, this Korean word would be a homonym for the English word 'girl,' which would broaden the appeal of the song." Just genuinely such a thoughtful writer. I think the other impressive thing about Jonghyun was that he clearly wasn't constricted to any one style, and he wrote music that reflected the performer. And that extends to his solo work--there's a very clear voice and POV that connects Deja-Boo, She Is, and Shinin', and they are immediately recognizable as Jonghyun's solo work, but not like his songs for SHINee, for instance. The things this video doesn't include but should: Sherlock, which is a mash-up of two songs and incredible, Excuse Me Miss which is like the best live performance of anything ever, Odd Eye (a song Jonghyun and Key wrote together, watch the Inkigayo performance), and Onew's 40 second note (in which the audience starts cheering at like the fifteen second mark and then when it just keeps going loses their minds). Also if you're looking for Taemin solo stuff, I think the must watches are Move, Criminal, Drip Drop, and Press Your Number. All great dances, all bops.

To get a feel for each of the members' talents I suggest looking up each of their solo stuff. Jonghyun and Taemin both have really extensive solo careers. Key has an album called Face with a few very well done music videos, usually collaborating with other artists. Onew has an album called Voice he released right before entering military service that has an MV for his emotional ballad Blue. Minho has yet to have his own solo album, but he released a music video on the SM Station channel called Home which is really pretty.

One of the best thing SM did was forming SHINee with these amazing FIVE men, like there wouldn't have been much better decesion, as we know, Minho lived with Suju and even Jjong practiced with them a lot, if Suju would have continued their expanding concept which was similar to NCT, we wouldn't have gotten such a PERFECT group as SHINee, so yeah SHINee members coming together was FATE, and yeah me being a SHINee World was also my Fate, blessed as a SHAWOL💎💎💎💎💎

I feel you.. i am new here. I was a YG Stan since 2014 and i am an Inner Circle (Winner Fan). I happened to watch Taemin at We Got Married (just last August this year) and since then i can't get over him. That is where i discovered SHINee. I realized what the hell am i doing since their debut on 2008? Now i am supporting Taemin/Shinee in every way that i can, too bad i only discovered them now. Thank you girls so much this was so great to look back on. One of my favorite songs because of the harmony and message is our page. After jonghyuns passing the boys wrote a song for there dear brother jonghyun called our page. The message was clear they love him and will never forget him. The lyrics are so endearing and also hopefull. Because they are telling jonghyun that they will continue on this path that they all walked on and will carry on as five always. Jonghyun wrote View inspired by a Shawol who has synesthesia-a condition where a sense is linked with a person’s certain perception, like color, shape, smell or flavor. Through his lyrics, Jonghyun compares having synesthesia to unlocking a sixth sense and seeing “the color of the music.” Same goes with Odd Eye (b-side). Jonghyun wrote the song after encountering a girl who was bashful about her two differently-colored eyes and used it to implore her to not hide her uniqueness from the world, because it’s what made her stand out from all the rest. Jonghyun once DJed in Blue Night Radio where he gets lyric inspirations from fans-resulting to a new album.

I straight up loved this video. I am in a pretty similar position to you. They started with 2 lead vocalists, 2 rappers, 1 main dancer. Now we have 5 main dancers, 5 lead vocalists and 5 song writers. I'm so proud to be a shawol. Oh, do you know that they were the first group that started sharing dance practice videos? They were also the first rookie group to sing live in tv programs. This year's cb was a very special one for SHINee and Shawol both. A first real cb since 2017 and only cb until Taemin will return from military so Shawols are taking in every second to celebrate this one. SHINee definitely is our precious pride.

Fun fact onew holds the record for longest note in kpop (at 40 seconds long!!) And jonghyun holds either 2nd or 3rd place at like 27 seconds

SHINee's vocal line is amazing...full of power,emotions, passionate....

Jonghyun and Minho actually wrote quite a lot for SHINee, which isn't all that common for sm artists. And Jonghyun had a radio show and often used his listeners stories to write songs! He wrote view after a fan talked about their synesthesia - he's incredible

I had a suuuuper long comment but as soon as i refreshed the page it seems like youtube deleted it ToT... but anyway just as a quick psa, video guides can be nice to get a broad understanding of who they are, but they can also put them into categories and stereotypes (for example, Key is way more than the sassy diva funny fashionista stereotype he's often reduced to, and he often expressed his wish that people would see him as a musician more than a comedian (even though he really IS really funny). He's got 2 albums (Hologram, a japanese mini album, and FACE) He's also really caring and thoughtful and full of emotions, so even if he can seem a bit snarky and aloof, don't let that fool you! It's the same for all the members actually, they all have a lot of depth so it's always good to see past the personas the internet can assign them sometimes! Onew also has a solo album, VOICE, and there's a reason for the similarity in sound: Taemin started with ACE, so Jonghyun decided to plagiarise (his own word) that and called his solo debut album BASE, so then they decided to keep it up, to show that even as solo artists with different musical identities, they were still linked as SHINee.

A few recs: Wanted, Picasso, Stranger, Wishful Thinking, Your Number, Evil, Orgel, Password, Why So Serious, and so many more.... There are several subbed full concerts on youtube, so if you have the time definitely check them out, you can see their whole potential as kings of performance as well as their personality during the talk breaks! (look up SWCIV et SWCV) As for TSOL (the 2018 album) you could look at the Good Evening MV and the Who Waits For Love stage. There's so much content, i can't rec all of it! The main thing to know is that their live performances (especially at concerts) are incredible and so are their B-sides, and that goes for their solo discography as well (I personnally think that Poet | Artist is one of the greatest albums ever and that is entirely due to its bsides)

It's a shame that the edits TV shows do this too, they reduce them to the 'best' bits when the behind the scenes are usually better glimpses of the person.

Im always happy to see people get into shinee 😅 a must watch to get to know their stage presence is "sherlock" at the shinee world iv concert, but if you will go through their mvs 1st you can watch it after the mv

Yey!!! So excited for your journey. And yes, welcome to SHINee World. I believe the RetB there means R&B. But anyways as you heard on the music samples we really can't define SHINee under one genre. They are designed to be an experimental group to try out new things even in music and fashion. They are also like the "guinea pigs" for variety shows. Usually before SM sends other groups, SHINee would have to guest first to try if it's good. They are a favorite for tv shows because they can be savage too and mess with the hosts and create fun content. Despite their seniority they are known to be very humble and respectful for the staff and bow a lot. As someone who has discovered them (and the whole kpop and kdrama world) during this pandemic and really love them (especially Onew who I feel is always a bit underrated), I love to watch videos such as 'shinee being chaotic for 8 minutes straight' or similar. They are so much fun and I love to see their different personalities when they are together. ❤️

She was famous ten years ago or less, the same as BTS now, to the extent that Obama praised Shinee and said that he followed their news, and to this day, SHINee's reputation is still great all over the world. 👌😎👑😍

I've enjoyed watching both of you discover SHINee. It's so fun and makes me so proud to be a Shawol to see people fall for them so fast. Both of you seem so lovely. Others have probably already mentioned it but all the members have solo releases that you should definitely check out. All of them have solo albums but Minho but he does have a single called I'm Home. I also highly recommend watching live stages especially ones from the Tokyo Dome. They also have an online concert coming up.

To give you an idea just how massive SHINee is, do look up the backstory of the song Juliette, lyrics written by Jonghyun and Minho. Prior to Juliette, music agencies relied solely on their army of professional song writers to write and produce songs for their talents.However, the massive success of Juliette proved that boy bands are true artists who can write their own songs and take creative control. SHINee not only redefined Kpop, but broke ground and glass ceilings so other bands can fly. One thing that I also love about SHINee is that they have literally been taking care of each other all these years. Taemin was in middle school when he debuted at 14 years old. Being mostly away from their families and having to live together as a group, Key took on the role of "Mom," cooking food, packing lunches and making sure Taemin goes to school. The other boys help with house chores and homework. Taemin has blossomed into one of Kpop's massive creative forces, but as you can see, he remains very sweet and grounded, thanks to the love and support of his SHINee brothers. You've most likely have heard of what happened to Jonghyun and how his loss devastated the group, but particularly Key and Onew. The song "Good Evening" was written by Key and Minho, and I leave it to you to interpret its meaning. On a lighter note, do have a look at their recent guestings with Knowing Brothers (Men on a Mission) and the ODG series where kids review their career. The contrast between the riot group and the sweet uncles is still making my head spin. You'll also see how Key's savagery goes to max levels with Minho (aaand yet they're always sitting next to each other) 🤣🤣🤣. You'll also meet Heechul from Super Junior in the show. He's good friends with SHINee (and yes, I personally love him for his lighthearted and constant reference to "the FIVE of you"). Minho also guest starred in Return of Superman. He's an absolute gem with children and in one episode, he (gently) performs two of SHINee's dances for the children. Let's just say the little girl's reaction would be VERY familiar 😊
