I had one of these on a 12 volt system for a couple of years. Seemed to work ok until recently. I ordered another one on Amazon same item number. The name on it was Walfront and its not even the same item I had! Looks totally different. On either controller, I've got controller set to 12.3 volts for low voltage cutoff, and 12.6 volts for recovery voltage. Battery gets down to 12.5 and my Led lights which is my output load, go crazy. They've not even hit the 12.3 volt cutoff point yet. They're on then randomly go off for a few then come back on for a while. I'm convinced all of these controllers do as they please. Mine will even show an output load when there's none connected to it. You can scroll thru the menu and set it to 105 which means it should run the load for 5 hours. Sometimes it does and other times it will run until it decides to turn itself off. Can't justify the cost for a true MPPT controller for my 300 watt setup

Maybe you should try using it the way it was designed to work.

Can you put your multi meter on the solar panel leads going into the charge controller and show what it's actually taking in from the solar panels ? Thanks

Gotta read amps ,, if your panels are over 10 amps combined ,, you will fry your multi meter wires unless it is able to handle ,, let's say ,, 30 amp ,, measure,, unless your checking volts ,, that have no real meaning when checking a solar panel proper ,,,,unless your trying to series wire ,, then should check volts ,, make sure you did it proper

Volts don't mean crap when testing a panel ,,, you can have a broken panel ,, putting out .09 amps that should be putting out 5.5 amps ,, and it still registers 21.4 volts coming in,, 👶🎤🙏🧰🔌🌞👶🎤🙏🧰🔌🌞

@FourMypersonaluse Of course I’m reading Amps. I’ve got a DC clamp meter plus also previously I took 10Amps out of each of my two Panasolar 380W panels. The previous controller was great for a while and delivered Amps as expected but when I installed this updated version it wouldn’t work. After this I grew tired of Solar controllers failing and sold my panels and just live with them being charged by a 24v - 29.2v electric bike charger which works great

What are you confused about? It’s not the best of videos. I just thought I’d make a video on it to show anybody interested in that controller. Basically I’ve got two 40 V panels. joined together in series at the back of the house on the previous controller that I showed, that is now broken, I pulled up to 22 A out of those panels when they were in parallel. I bought the new controller which is a PWM not MPPT because it could take 100 V DC so I could put the two panels I had in series and as the Sun went down, the voltage may still be 40 V and as my battery voltage is 28 to 29 fully charged I could still get some flow from the panels. The issue with having the panels in parallel is when the Sun goes down you’ll only get about 30 V, and if you’ve got a battery voltage of 27 V, you’ll get hardly any flow into your cells. These cheap solar controllers never last long and I’ve gone through loads of them. And because you need about eight panels to really make Solar worth it and I wasn’t prepared to buy any more panels I decided to just go for charging the battery pack with a 24 V Battery scooter charger all the time and then we had power outs which are often in the rainy season. We would go onto backup power and then as soon as the power came back the battery charger would charge the battery pack back up again which works great. The only time The solar panels came in handy was when we had a power out in the daytime and we were using the backup batteries, but at least the solar panels were charging the batteries while the Sun was out. This happened very rarely. A lot of people seem to think that for back up power they need to have solar panels ,they don’t Just get a 24 V battery scooter charger. Also, personally, I think having separate bits like I’ve done is the best option rather than a hybrid inverter. There is a channel on KZread of a toy electronics wizard who shows you exactly what the faults are on all those hybrid inverters. Lots of MOSFET problems capacitors blowing up losing you completely sunk. That Will Prowse champion is a hybrid inverter. I think it’s called the LV4658 or something like that. That looks very reliable. But I’ve seen lots of top mics that you can buy in Thailand on the workbench of ‘Chang Eh’ of Lamphun North Thailand.

Yeah the pwm controllers need to have a voltage much higher than what you're trying to charge, which is a bummer because all the excess gets wasted. From what I understand it has to be a minimum of 5v higher than the charge voltage needed. That would explain why you're having issues when the bank is 27 and your panels are sending 30.

And also if you're not using the load function (nothing is connected to the load terminals), you should turn the load to off.

I bought one of those MPPT charge controllers opened the package and accidentally dropped it, cracking the screen.🥲
