Good to see it up and running again.I use a compressible copper washer for the anti drain valve on my triples with a drop of loctite pipe sealing fluid. It works a treat.I have spare washers if you want some....

I assume you know but just down the road from you Tesco Super is 99 octane. Supermarket fuel is sometimes criticised for lack of additives, I can’t comment on that but although labelled as E5 Tesco Super is ethanol free in this part of the country. Two out of three ain’t bad. Looking forward to seeing a Vlog out on the road!

Hi Stew - yes that's the one I was indirectly referring to in the video - thanks for confirming.

Hiya Angus, a certain americam manufacturer that uses those clips as you call them refers to them as 'speednuts'.... As for the timing and adjusting all three points and advance, it makes you realise how much easier everything is these days with crank position sensors and computer adjustable ignition maps - I am NOT saying that it is progress though !

Ahh speed nuts - thanks Thakery. Indeed three sets of points is sometimes a bit time consuming timing up but at least I can do this myself and maintain with a minimum number of tools and no electronic diagnostic equipment!

Are you going to track your cylinder balance via exhaust readings and how often and how long would you do so to feel comfortable. Your posts are very concise and I enjoy them., Thank You.

I'm just a simple amateur mechanic Max so I'll just be using more old fashioned techniques associated with feel, sound and observation for balance monitoring. It helps knowing the insides much better now and also that I rebuilt the carbs with new slides, needles and jets, including the important needle jet, not that long ago. Thanks for the kind comment as always.

Hi Angus, the trouble with using an O ring that doesn't have a recess to fit into is that it will most likely split or scalp the inside edge off, you may be better off trying an imperial size Dowty washer. Enjoying the series.

Many thanks Judd for the comment, interest and suggestion. Yep Dowty washer is a great idea if the current approach doesn’t hold up,

They say those dove grey frames were not very practical, seems to me they are very good at showing where the oil leaks are coming from! I had both a Bultaco Sherpa and a Honda XR250R with white frames as standard, and they were both off road bikes for the dirt, so maybe it was just too radical for its time to go dove grey?

Indeed they have their practical uses! Yes I agree radical at the time but supposed to be dull silver.

Would a dowty washer be any good for the pressure relief fix?Angus

Hi Marshall - thanks for the suggestion. Someone else also suggested that but I think I need a crush washer as the hole is not square with the milled surface. Anyhow it’s holding up ok atm so we’ll think again if there’s any further trouble. Luckily it’s not under pressure as it’s the anti drain valve cap, not the pressure relief valve cap. Thanks for the interest and comment.
