For me that was the most interesting review for ages AND at last an English reviewer who bothers to test for muzzle energy down range. I’ve always had an FAC in the cabinet - currently a Wildcat but I did have an R10 blue printed and it was amazingly accurate 177. The .25 intrigues me and I had a springer (sub 12) some years ago but the choice of pellets was far too small for me to be sure I was getting the best out of the gun. I’ve been a fan of BSA guns since my first Airsporter in the 1960’s and I’m really tempted by an R10 sub 12 or FAC. In sub 12 the .25 carries a thump that flattens anything in the way of pests in a barn but without over penetration and the danger of damaging roofs etc. Great review Andy.

Definitely not daft loving bolt action Andy. I've had the privilege of firing some early 20th century bolt action rifles and every time I use my rifle it takes me back to firing those mesmerising pieces of engineering. Your passion is one of the reasons your videos are so great and enjoyable.

Hi Andy, preaching to the converted, I have an R10TH and would never give it up. Open up the case, it always makes me smile as it is beautiful to look at let alone use. Interesting review for me concerning the accuracy of pelletsvslugsvweights which has convinced me that my .22 version is right for me and paper targets. Thanks for yet another interesting review. Stay safe.

The grey stock is 🔥🔥🔥😍💯 The energy retention on the 33.95s is impressive and leaves me with a lot more confidence at distances out to 100 yards. I push them at 900 FPS in my LCS and they are very accurate as well. Gotta try the Grizzly rounds soon. Great information. Thank you.

Id take a .22 fac over a .25 any day , just use a nice 25 grn .22 pellet at around 45 fpe and you have the power you need and you get the bonus of a flatter .177 flight characteristics .

Had a fantastic Mk2 R10 for 5 years (it did go back to the factory from new with a barrel issue but was pellet on pellet afterward) however replaced with an older Mk2 R10 150th anniversary edition with a beautiful stock in 2020. The Reg gave up after 2 mags so I sent back to BSA for a new reg which I was fine with given the gun was 9 years old. However once it returned it did not shoot as I expected (nowhere near my other R10) but given my previous experience didn’t believe BSA to be at fault and proceeded to troubleshoot and try 10+ popular pellets. I even took it to a shop who chono’d it and said it was fine however I chrono’d it at a separate place months later after more inconclusive testing and it had serious reg problems. By this point the new reg was out of warranty (lockdown delayed testing). It’s since been back to BSA twice and is still not correct, it’s a shame as I also want it to be the last gun in my collection. Worth noting I have also owned a Defiant and have a first edition CLX and BSA mk1 meteor in the collection still so it’s not easy for me to be frustrated with BSA.

USA owner here. Love my BSA R10th .22 FAC! 50-yard grouping with JSB jumbo Heavy Diablos is less than 1-inch. Slugs like JSB jumbo monsters don’t fly straight. Only problem with my R10, wish I had the walnut stock. I have black pepper laminate and the stock is a bit too glossy.

Morning Andy, Another great show as usual I've had my R10mkII for a long time now and like you say they just keep working. Mine is used for the hunting side of things and for target I use my M3 however I don't use the BSA scope as I like to be able to get a little closer view so I use the Vector optics scopes, Which in my opinion are great value and very clear optics. Keep up the good work promoting the sport because gun shops seem to be disappearing, My local one here in Berkshire is closing down which is a shame as they have been here for over 50 years.

Hi Andy, Thank you for another great review. There's obviously a lot to think about when considering FAC. Alot of people think more power is the be all end all. However, like you said Andy, out at those distances, you've got wind age and accuracy and not the fore gone conclusion some people may think.

Hi Andy, Thankyou for another fantastic air rifle review. I wasn't expecting it, so a lovely surprise. I love your humour, especially when you talked about having four air rifles, having had issues with all of them, their manufacturers' name beginning with D! No disrespect to anyone, it was just a lighthearted giggle. The fact is, few things in life run smoothly. When goods are made/manufactured, there's always the possibility of issues. I've had them myself. If we are lucky and the manufacturer takes on their responsibility to put things right, I think thats fair enough, and we can't ask for much more, although not the best scenario. I have been wondering about applying for FAC licence Andy, and have made up my mind with your review. I think I will stay as I am, and put all my energy into being as good as I can be with my sub 12ftlb and knowing where my .177 pellet is going to be at different distances. I think for me personally at this stage of my shooting, I would rather try and be much more accurate with what I am currently using, rather than jump in the oceans and not know where I am. I found your review, Andy, very helpful and your humour priceless, lol. I, too, think the BSA's are gorgeous and love the fact they are British and steeped in history. The black pepper stock looks gorgeous, absolutely fantastic, no question. However, I just couldn't be parted from my walnut. It would have to be parted from the death grips of my corpse, lol! Very best wishes, Andy, take care!

I've never seen the benefit, overall, of a FAC air rifle here in the UK. A .22" lr rimfire is much, much cheaper, and if you don't need the, say, 100ftlb of a 40 grain round nose, try shorts. 30 ftlb with a 29 grain round nose. My Henry .22" underlever will hold 21 shorts, and the only issue for the hunter would be the inability to fit a moderator to it. Of course there's always a bolt action with threaded barrel for that. My experience with BSA air rifles in the sub 12ftlb category has been good, with my T-10 being a favourite, and my Tench regulated Ultra was a belter before, like a fool, I sold it. The older BSA's have served me well too, but alas my R-10 experience was one which I'd rather not like to experience again. I've been mulling over the idea of a .25" for a year or two, just because, well, it intrigues me, even in sub 12ftlb, with all the limitations it will have, such as the increased arc of trajectory and the lack of a good pellet choice. However, I won't be stretching to the price of an R-10.

@@andrewharris4940 @andrew harris if you're going to turn it down too much, what's the point for the small stuff around a farm, at least here in the UK. Might as well stick to a good sub 12ftlb. In and around barns and the like I would think over penetration would be something to consider too, so again a sub 12lbft. Stretching out into the fields, over, say 35 to 40 yards, yes, an FAC would come into it's own, but in doing so it brings the rimfire back into reasoning. Shorts being of benefit, should the usual long rifle be too much.

Andy, I've had an idea for yourself videos. If you could put your targets into a printer you could print the gun, pellet and range info on them so we always know what we're watching if we missed the info in your commentary. May be useful to you when editing your video as well. One more idea is at the end of each year you could post a slide show of the whole year's test targets so you can have some time off around Christmas from making time consuming content. Keep up the great work, I look forward to your videos every week.

Lately I've been looking at air rifles to upgrade from my springer .177 Gamo hunter 1250 and I've gone from wanting to buy another break barrel, to wanting a fixed barrel, but looking at power and accuracy ending up to wanting pcp air rifles. I don't know what I should get. I like shooting at long distances, most pcp guns that I want are .22, I own a .177 break barrel and I want a bigger punch something like .25 or .30 that can make that 100yard distance. Any advice is much appreciated.

I love the dark look of that stock. I have a BSA ultra. And I have no reason to get a new Gunn. But if I ever do. It will 100 000000 % lol. Be an . BSA R10 👍

Informative , I love my 22 BSA scorpion 10 years old now and hit more with it than my new 177 reign , need to get used to it I suppose might try heavier 177 pellets ?

I have been enjoying you explanation on the right air rifle for the job, I learned to understand that too. I still wish my old Gamo Whisper Fusion was still usable, at 1300 Ft per second I couldn't find a scope that would last more than a 100 to 200 rounds. The combined recoil of a break over spring style would just ruin the scope! Including the BSA it came with and two additional Nikon target scopes I bought over time. Is there a scope able to stand up to the forces this pallet rifle exerts on them?

18:23 Yes it's pronounced 'pile arm', no doubt named after the BSA 'Piled Arms' logo. Another great review, I have an R10TH in .177 and an R10 SE in .22 and love them both.

What I miss in all vids are penetration tests with wood 6x4. If I would buy a PCP then penetration power on 25-100 meters is key. So .25 JSB Exact King Heavy MKII & Zan Slugs are the only ones I use 1000-1150 fps.

It’s the regulator. Very well known problem I’m afraid. Glad to see Andy hasn’t had any issues but the regs are know as a ticking bomb that goes at some point. Replace the original with a Huma and it’s fixed. Real shame BSA won’t spend a few pounds more when building them as it would kill the issue dead.

Beautiful looking guns. I way prefer wooden stocks to something that looks like a Johnnie 7 gun.

Unfortunately it's seems everything quality has a price, but there is a price above quality where it is just bling not purpose, BSA/GAMO are the quality without being bling and its those that perform much better, and it's British. Lovely reveiw Andy.

BSA and Gamo make fantastic rifles and guns. Anything made in volume is going to have a few duds. Gamo and BSA know and acknowledge these problems and resolve them immediately.

Loved bsa's from the airsporter underlever and the funny little breech loading flippy thing upto the r10... But if I bought the r10 sub 12 and then got my FAC would I have to buy a new gun (as with fx) or can a gunsmith adjust the power?

I will never sell my BSA ultra se and R12 laminate stock, I have a HW100 and as good as they are I still think the little ultra and R12 blind it. Also can't wait to receive my edgun leshiy 2 soon. I think it's the most fun gun on the market specially with the repeated shot count.
