BSA Power Set Next Project Reveal - At Last!
Фильм және анимация
Well it's about time. This has been sitting under wraps for a little while, awaiting for a lull in projects or an excuse to come into the limelight. As it's going to be shown at the forthcoming NEC Classic Motor Show, then we need to reveal it at last.

Hi Angus, I've contacted you once, in another video, about where you were able to find spare parts for your BSA bikes because I owned 1 with my dad back home, which you kindly replied, and guess what, it's the same model as this one, from 1972, even the colors are the same!! They were introduced in Madeira Island by the Italian company that my dad used to work, named Marconi and the bikes were used to dispatch letters and telegrams, around the Island. Before retiring my dad bought one and took it home where it is still working until today, although not 100%, with some minor maintenance work needed and maybe a new oil pump. What an awesome surprise to finally find one in KZread, I can't wait for the next episodes, thank you for sharing!! 👍👍

Many thanks Nelio for the kind comment and anecdote. I do remember you contacting me previously. We’ll be back on this B50 shortly to initially prepare it for the forthcoming show.
Great find Angus! I’m a keep it original guy. A Dynamic Preservation is in order. We picked up a 1963 Tiger Cub T20 last week end in similar condition. Up on the bench now. Bless you and your family.

Cheers Mick thank you and best wishes with the T20 - great little bikes - have restored and ridden them in my time.
Love it.
Hi Angus. Full rebuild with a dove grey frame fits in with the rest of the stable, so for me that's the way to go for me!!! Can't wait.

Cheers Monza - yea I'm quite well now thanks after a bad period just after Christmas when I caught COVID and it kicked off all sorts of issues. Vote duly noted thanks.
Very good. These do well when the inlet port is reshaped to let it breath

Thanks Bruce. I think it'll be plenty enough for me without any mods. Let's see.
Nice find. I would preserve it by just giving it a oily rag and some paint polish.

Thank you Patrick for the comment and interest. I think you can drop the “young”, nice though it is!
Cleaned up , as is, mechanically sound. Nice find. Looking forward to the series. Thank You.

Just a tidy up is my view Angus. Only the tank and the filter needs to be put right.

Hi Angus, I had an inkling it was going to be a B50 - hopefully I will get to see it at the Classic car/bike show next month - keep safe G

Cheers Gordon - hopefully see you soon again. Yes it will be there and there'll be another video on it beforehand as we give it a bit more detailed once-over.
I look forward to your future episodes about the B50SS, I’m thinking that it would be good to clean it up as it is and do any mechanical issues needed. What a great addition to the “power set”

Looking forward to seeing how this goes. I too have a 1971 B50 SS, imported from the USA 3 years ago. Mine had been converted into an MX look alike & turns out to have the official US distributors 600cc upgrade. I got it on the road ASAP & am treating it as a rolling restoration to use an enjoy. I’ve no plans to return it to original SS spec.

Thanks for the interest and comment and anecdote. I did know there was a US dis upgrade at the time - will have to look that one up.

Angus hope you don’t mind but there was a thread on BSA singles and twins Facebook page about these bikes. I’ve mentioned your KZread channel and posted two photos of your bike. Eagerly awaiting your updates on this project 👍

That’s very kind John thank you and no problem at all.
That's a nice survivor bike and I'll bet you'll have it spiffed up (and probably running) in short order. I remember the B50 engine was the one Alan Clews used on his original CCM machines and used them until the supply was totally exhausted. Thanks for sharing and press on!

Well worth the wait! This had me reaching for Brad Jones' Incomplete Guide to the B25/B50, I had no idea so few had the grey frame. For that reason alone I would keep it black, as it shows BSA had quickly realised their error and acted upon it.

Hello, hopefully you will make it look as it did when it left the showroom. And it makes sense to converting it to grey frame as the rest of your bikes. I think there are many of us who are looking forward to following the refurbishment. Good will to work when the time comes. Greetings from Denmark🏍️

Thanks for the comment and your preference. I’m in two minds as it’s original. So far most appear to prefer leaving it original and cleaning up but let’s give it a bit of time.
Hi Angus, I strongly suspected it was going to be a B50. I've just completed a 1971 American import myself so I'll be very interested in how you get on with this one. Personally I would treat it to a partial restoration with new paintwork, chrome work, rear rim and of course the dove grey frame as I did mine. They're a great bike by the way. Good luck Jim
