Bryce Young DOMINATES without seeing his receivers.
Спорт
Bryce Young can't see the middle of the field, but still dominates it, and it's absolutely insane to watch. Despite the fact that he’s just 5’10, Young is able to command the middle of the field, an area where short quarterbacks don’t/can't attack, because they literally can’t see over their offensive lineman. I believe Young will go 1 overall, and he’ll be an incredibly good NFL quarterback, so the question is: how the hell does he pull off throwing where he can’t see? This week’s episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze Alabama Quarterback Bryce Young before the 2023 NFL draft.

When I see small QBs, I'm not really concerned with them being able to see "over the line", I'm more concerned if they can handle the NFL physically without getting injured from the shots they will take from the defense. Any QB I've ever talked to about "seeing over the line" have always down played it and said things like "you see through the gaps in the line" or " unless you are 6'6" or 6'7", you are not seeing over linemen anyway." This kid looks like he can play the game of football damn well, if I'm a GM I would not let his height deter me from drafting him. Everybody said the same about Brees when he was lighting it up at Purdue, and left him undrafted until the 2nd round, big mistakes made there.

Boom.
He did this in college… the NFL is a whole different animal
Young was far and away the best QB in this class. Stroud and Richardson weren't even in the same Universe as him. Young had skills and knowledge that neither Stroud nor Richardson possessed, and he did it at a higher level than either of them, playing against better competition than Stroud did. Richardson was an athletic freak, but he wasn not a QB. While his athletic prowess impressed at the Combine, his ball placement in throwing drills was still subpar. And, even though some teams praised him for his ability to assess defensive reactions to Florida's passing concepts during whiteboard sessions, the offense he played in was commensurate to his abilities, experience, and knowledge of the game; very basic. It was a lot of single-read concepts that wouldn't play for long in the League. Young, on the other hand, had a high-level understanding of complex concepts. And remember, Bill O'Brien was his OC, an NFL coordinator who didn't ease up on the play-calling. You repeatedly showed that he was the best QB in the this class.
I want to see the NFL team that would trade up to #1 to take a 5'10 200 lb QB... The team that wastes their pick and that money on him will be lucky to get 3 years out of him.
Kid is a Wizard. But, at 5'10 185 is a tough sell. He isn't close to 204. AND you are 100% spot on lin that Bryce got casual too often in 2022.
Young is gonna torch the league! Can you do a video on Stetson Bennet!?
Bryce is not only shorter than Drew, he's slimmer and not as strong an arm. He is more doug flutie than Brees

It's pretty interesting how the top two quarterbacks have such positive strengths and potential glaring weaknesses. Yet they are still outrageously talented.
Not gonna lie, that title made me laugh.😅
The statements saying every next drew Brees has failed is pretty misleading. Russell Wilson had an elite peak and has won a super bowl. Kyler Murray is still young and was already in the hunt for an MVP during one of his seasons. The video seems kinda eager to dismiss him and write him off, when his biggest issue is that he got hurt, not that he fell off, or was never good. Also the title doesn’t connect with the arguments of the video? “Bryce young can’t see” proceeds to show the differences in his heat map suggesting he is the only one who CAN see???

Coming this Saturday! Just starting my prep now
there’s 0 doubt in my mind he’ll be the best qb in this draft
I think the Ringer’s Benjamin Solak put my concerns over Bryce Young into (paraphrased because I can’t remember the exact quote) words best: “Is it entirely possible that you draft Bryce Young and he looks like the best QB in this draft class two years in? Absolutely, but the accumulation of hits on his historically small frame worries me for the longevity of his career.”
@AlexRollinsNFL
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a good way to put it. I didn't dive too much into it, just threw a little "if he stays healthy" at the end, but it's definitely a big concern. This video just focused on his height and why I'm not worried about it, the weight is imo more worrisome
@dabbingtoast7743
Жыл бұрын
@@AlexRollinsNFL Came into the combine at 204 after just packing weight for like 2 months straight, of which he’s gonna shed 10-20 pounds to get back to playing weight? Those are Kyler Murray numbers and we’ve seen Kyler’s body fail him 3 seasons in a row now. Sure Young is an infinitely better QB than Murray and won’t rely on his legs as much but I just don’t see him making it in a league where he’s gonna be getting hit by dudes 50-100 pounds heavier than he is.
@t4d0W
Жыл бұрын
@@dabbingtoast7743 If that is the case then it is still a better investment to find a dynamo of a pocket QB at under 6 feet whose overall build/durability may cut his overall career by 30. Than say whiffing on an toolsy athletic QB whose 6'4 220 lbs who is as much a risk to sign to a 2nd contract. Besides if NFL trends for trying to hit on SB windows are true, its to get that great QB (a tier below Mahomes) and get all the help to push the offense to the limits before the conversation of a 2nd contract comes through. Doug Flutie was in the league for 12 years but only played 4 of those being a starter for over 9 games. Yet people with their rosy memory think he was 'good' for a small QB. He was acceptable as a back up but the kind of guy you don't win starting games with.
My only issue with this break down is I can’t stand college to nfl comparisons. You can’t go off the film and correlate that to what will unfold in the league. It’s way too unpredictable what your circumstances will be. If I’m a GM, I’m only taking a guy like this with a lower valued pick. You can’t value someone high first round that’s only 5’10 at the QB. I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

Their OL definitely wasn't up to it's normal standard this year
Brock Purdy is the next Brees. Bryce can be the next next Brees.
My biggest concern about Young is his durability. He will not be able to take hits like the one from the Texas player at 5:18 (and again at 5:35) in the NFL and last long. I could see him having a similar career arc as Tua if that’s the case.

You can’t sack the QB like that in the NFL. You have to wrap them soft now.
He can be good but I worry about whether he can stay healthy. And before you even say it, just because he's been fortunate and stayed healthy in college doesn't guarantee his health in the NFL.
Why are u comparing Wilson and Murray NFL charts with young college chart, doesn't make sense when NFL defenses are alot better than college.

Are you saying you should compare Wilson and Murray college charts? If those are available, makes sense. Don't think he actually showed a chart from Bryce. Makes me think there's not an organization making them like Pro Football Focus does
Panther
Honestly your kind of wrong when it came to kyler and Russ. Russ really had one bad season and everybody acting like he played that way the whole time in the nfl. Kyler technically hadn’t had a flat out bad season playing wise. His mindset sure but playing the game no. I agree with you on everything else pretty much but Kyler and Russ. Actually the average size qbs are the ones that’s been ripping the league apart. The taller qbs are slow and tend to over throw receivers alot i do mean alot. I think the days of the tall qb is pretty much over. 5-10 to 6-3 is what we will see for a while
Carolina don’t mess this up 😢😂

@@BigSpence20 I'm not accurately predicting anything. I'm giving my opinion which is Bryce is the best QB in this class and the best QB in years even above Trevor. Is it the right opinion? I don't know we just have to wait and see.
Seahawks are getting Anthony Richardson
