I’ve sold this bag now 🤗

This video breaks my heart because I love the boys! I have 8! I surprisingly love them more than the classic flaps. Primarily for the reason that I can wear them crossbody. But it works for me because I’m short lol. But yes I have popped out the balls on the strap to make it longer. It works, but it’s kind of a scary process lol. I get every single point that you made though. I do think the grey one is a little harder to wear. I totally agree with the line when you said you have to dress for the bag! I had my grey one for 2 years and worn it once 😳. It’s probably the one bag I might let go of if I really had to. Great video!

Sis, this bag is stunning!!!! Chanel is on my wishlist for 2021, but it's so hard to nail down which one!!! The boy bag used to be on my list but then it wasn't and then it was back...definitely in a "different" colour like this one...but this one sounds like its a bit high maintenance...now I know some things to look out for, thanks for sharing, Dayle!

I totally agree with you 100%, I do think it's beautiful and stunning but just something about it, I wouldn't necessarily reach for it (I don't have one but based on the other reviews/pros & cons I've seen as well). I love that you mentioned the substitutes because we can definitely opt for other options rather than buying the BOY. 😊💕 I'm definitely considering the lady Dior as an alternative!!!

It’s a gorgeous boy and complements your skin tone and eye color beautifully, but if your cost per wear is high it's best to move on from it. I just bought a limited edition preloved old medium boy but the leather strap part is woven so it doesn’t slip off my shoulder. I absolutely love it! I just sold two other bags that I wasn’t reaching for as much but still loved....It’s hard to let go sometimes of beautiful but under utilized bags, but once I sell it, I don’t think about it anymore. There’s a fine line between hoarding and collecting for me...so I try to keep my collection limited to the bags I use.

This is very interesting to me! I love my boy. I can perfectly wear it crossbody (I’m only 5’3”) as well as double strapped on my shoulder and I love both of these ways. I always keep reaching for this bag (that’s probably because I have hardly gone out that much recently and wore my boy most of those times) and I can also fit all my essentials. I guess this goes to show how the same bag can work differently for different people.

Yes.. I wear my boy crossbody and on the shoulder equally as comfortably as well, but I’m only 5’4” so that may be why. I recently tried on the mini fendi baguette and though it looks great on Dayle, when I wore it crossbody it was a tad too long! Still love it but if it doesn’t look great worn crossbody then it’s a dealbreaker for me!

“Dress for the bag rather than select a bag to match my outfit” very thought provoking. Goes back to that fantasy self instead of reality self. I’m toying with buying a bag for at the moment...is it my style of dressing or do I just like the bag???

I never ask myself this question, I buy first then decide.... it’s hard with seasonal bags as you just have to pounce when they are there!

That color is stunning! I have the hardest time with gray for some reason. It screams demure and refined to me, but maybe that's just my mental association to Dior? I bought a gray Marc Jacobs bag on sale a few years ago, but never reached for it. Finally I just gave it to my sister. She loves it, but her coloring is totally different to mine (very blond, very blue eyes). Sounds like you're making the best decision! Thanks for sharing 😊

This grey and gold hardware is My dream color boy bag. Mine was red, i sold mine because i didnt like the color. This boy bag looked so stunning and perfect size for you.

I totally agree with you about selling a bag as beautiful as it is when it isn’t being used Dayle. 2020 made me re-evaluate my huge amount of clothes, shoes and bags and I donated a lot of clothes and shoes and sold many small leather goods and 16 designer bags as lovely as they all were because I had too many multiples of a style or I didn’t use them. The bag that shocked my friends was when I recently sold the Chanel lamb skin medium classic flap in black with silver hardware. . Mine was bought new in 2009 and from the rare times I used the bag, it would get scratches and creases and marks....mine was a very delicate year of lambskin apparently. I also prefer gold hardware so I sold it because it sat there being used only once a year and I really didn’t enjoy worrying or the silver .....so I really understand how you feel because I loved the look but just didn’t work for me. Luckily I got double the money I paid for it 😬

Wow Alex! What an inspiration you are! I did a huge clean out of shoes yesterday actually.... again beautiful but not bring me joy ... lots of pain actually 😬. 16 designer bags is so much, I bet that was a full time on on its own! Selling is such hard work I find! Well done on your classic flap lottery win! I doubt I’ll make money on this bag, but as long as it’s not a huge loss, I’ll call it a years rent! 🤣

I'm sorry to hear you're not getting along with your Boy. I love mine, but I agree with you that I wish the strap were longer or properly adjustable. I'm quite short, so I can get away with it crossbody, even though it sits up a little higher than I would normally wear. I also like carrying it with the chain doubled. I would love to buy your bag, but I'm guessing that once exchange rates and shipping from Australia are figured in, it would probably not end up being a great deal for me -- but I'm sure you'll have loads of people champing at the bit to buy it.

Go try it on at the store. I have one in the old medium size and I wear it crossbody easily as I am petite. I am 5’2” and thinner. It doesn’t swing or fall away. I lobe mine. It’s not too big. It is comfortable.I have an organizer in mine to protect the inside and the structure. I am a casual dresser and I wear it casually.

Try it on and see how it feels on you. Even if you’re looking at buying one preloved, use the boutique to really get a feel for what you like so you can pounce when the right one comes along, good luck!

Go try it in store. I have the boy and I LOVE it. I can perfectly wear it crossbody and double strapped on my shoulder and I can fit all my essentials. I am thinking about buying a second one!😃

I always like grey because it’s very neutral for all seasons. I also like more slouchy bags than structured bag except for mini bags. This is so beautiful, maybe think a little more because of the price increases, you won’t lose money. I’m very sentimental. Unless it bugs you so much, then time to let go because you have 2 beautiful structured Fendi bags that are as classics, cool and edgy 💕🤗

I love the grey in concept but just not in practice it’s so beautiful!

I had 3 boy bags. 2 in calf and 1 in caviar. Never had much issues with it. There was once I fell down with the calf skin bag and it stood up very well. It only had a tiny tiny scratch at the corner. My caviar OM bag is in bronze. Similar to what u have. There is some slight discoloration to the chain but nothing serious. It's a boxy edgy bag. Either u love it or u don't. One thing for sure. If u want the luxurious feel in a handbag, go for CF. I cant feel that in boy bags

'Classic with an edge" - so damn chic! Love your style, Dayle. The Lady D and the Peekaboo with those straps... wowza!!! The Chanel grey is beautiful but I completely understand your reasoning. I bought a light grey Chanel WOC from quite possibily the same collection and had to exchange it because as soon as I got home and tried it on with my wardrobe I realised that it didn't look as good as I'd hoped for a "neutral" colour. Because I have my black bags covered, I exchanged it for a bright orange-toned red medium classic flap and guess what... I have the same issue with that bag! Red is my favourite colour for clothing and the SA convinced me that it was such a rare piece (blah, blah blah), but oddly, I feel that my red Chanel is just too tacky because it's so bright. Some people say red acts as a nice "neutral" because it's a primary colour. But my black bags and dove grey Peekaboos work just as well (and often better) than my bright red and I'm thinking of selling it as I don't feel the quality is there either compared to my other Chanels. If you've been patient with it (sometimes we can fall in and out of love with bags!) yet you feel more excited about reaching for other bags I say "follow your heart". You want to feel 150% sure about a bag especially when these are costly beauties. Great review. Xx

I'll let you know though that my Peekaboo collection comprises 2X medium iconics (black and dove grey - both calf), 2X mini iconics (one in dove grey selleria, the same model as your babies, the other red nappa) and I'm going back and forth between the Essentially. I've actually purchased and exchanged the Essentially and currently have one on hold for me haha. What do you think about the Essentially Peekaboo? I love it but also really love the tailored look of the Iconics. Anyway, your collection is TO DIE FOR and if you're really over the grey Chanel boy it may be able to fund a future purchase. Woo! I had the LV Capucines and loved everything about it besides the logo (I hate logos!) I decided to part with it in order to fund my Fendi addiction. I still love the Capucines but the Fendi is just so classic, timeless and inconspicuous without the flashy logos. LOVE the medium Peekaboo size. So chic and I've had heaps of compliments with my mediums. The Essentially is a newer Peekaboo model. It doesn't have the tailored "hem" lines that the Iconic has and is closer in size to the medium iconic. It's actually quite a lot bigger than the mini. They're on the Fendi website. They're ultra chic and minimal. I'm still deciding about adding one to my collection... will probably pull the trigger soon hehe. The Essentially calf leather is buttery soft and so delicious. Lol we're such Fendi babes xx

Well I am glad of that, I love the look but I got the wrong colour I think!

My first Chanel was a pre-loved small Boy bag that I bought 3 years ago. I’ve had my moments with it but I still find myself reaching back for it cause I just love the pairing of its boxy structure with its chunky chains! I’ve tried the medium (25cm) size and it doesn’t work for me. Hope you can find that Boy a lovely owner! X

@@DaylesAddiction I have small (20cm) Boy bag in a seasonal quilted black calfskin. Doesn’t fit a whole lot but enough to get by a day. I’ve definitely picked up some amazing Tetris skills after living with small bags for a while haha! I primarily wear it crossbody (I’m 5’10/177cm 185lbs/84kilos) and will occasionally wear it double-chained handheld.

This was great insight. That bag is a stunner. Is it a new or old medium? It sounds like you think it’s beautiful but you are not enjoying it. I recently got a boy bag and although it fits less than I’d like, I love it so much that I downsize a bit to make it work because I love it. Also I can easily wear my old medium boy crossbody (I am 5’2” and smaller framed) and that was a deal breaker for me. If I couldn’t wear it crossbody I dont think I would’ve gotten it. My Advice is to keep what you love using unless you are happy just looking at it. I am trying hard to follow that advice also and have sold a few bags recently. I’ve been bad about that in the past. Pretend you do t have it and see how that feels.

We should never try to change that to be able to wear something that doesn’t feel good or right. I love your done, but undone style aesthetic. The caramel bag looks cool. The boy bag is to rigid , Idk why but it gives a feeling of to dressed up , Idk if you can wear it with sneakers or with more casual outfit. You like dressing more casual and being relaxed so that's why the bag not working for you anymore. That is what I think. : )

Thank you for sharing what you use instead. This perspective is crucial for picking out good purchases, but one I usually forget to think about it when shopping. If we already have a gorgeous bag to fit the bill, we are less likely to use the new one. There are so many gorgeous bags and endless new styles to make us light up, but they don’t always fit out needs and personal style.

As a stylist you may have an opinion.... though the comments here I’ve come to think it just doesn’t work with my colouring.... it makes me look a bit sickly... would you agree? I was so in love when I bought her home.... but similar to the reissue for me sadly, we just don’t gel 🤷🏻‍♀️

Grey is a neutral but it looks like it is a cool; cool grey. There is a science with colour. White is pure but black can have blue or brown added to it. Your beautiful Fendi bag 💼 is a beautiful black with texture ( my opinion) so that is an example of how black can look soft or hard. Your Fendi bag is black but softer. So what has that got to do with your grey Chanel you say. Well black and white is mixed to make grey ( warm or cool) and it looks like it may be a more blue based grey ( when you showed it close up) which I think is just too cool for your colouring, you do go for more cool colours as you have beautiful blue eyes but you do tan and I think it may be just too cool for your colouring. Coupled with the style of the bag it is just too serious for your style. I think you like a more fun young style. Just my thoughts but sell it ( you know I struggle to say that) buy you can buy another bag you truely love. I want to see that beautiful smile on your face when you adore a bag.

You can undo the strap -- however, it doesn't really work as an adjustment, because there are only 2 holes. If you want to extend the strap, you'd have to have it attached with just one stud in one hole, but that doesn't even work, because the end of the top strap extends over where the second stud sticks out, so without another hole, the second stud (the one closer to the chain) just pushes up the end of the strap -- it looks terrible. If you're willing to alter the bag, you can get another hole added, and then that would work, but you'd still only be able to add about an inch, since there isn't enough length on the end of the strap, so it hardly seems worth it, given how the alteration would lower the value of the bag. But what you could do is just *remove the chain it comes with and use it with a different strap* -- I think it would look cool with a guitar strap, or you could just use another chain. The nice thing about those D-rings the chain threads through is you can always use them to attach a strap with spring clips too

Your Boy bag is beautiful, I m pondering getting one! Do you think lambskin would easily get scratched or damaged? The one I m thinking of is a black lambskin old medium size😊. Another think I would like to know is that is this med boy bag heavy? The chunky chain looks like it is very heavy! Please give me sone advices.

It’s not a heavy bag but due to the boxy nature it will get corner wear if it’s worn enough!

I had a boy a few years ago but sold it. It was so pretty but everytime I wore if the boxyness just Bugs me so I sold it. I realize I’m more a classic flap girl with chanel.

I have some pretty impractical bags in my collection but this one just makes me sad I don’t use her... so beautiful!

I have a Chevron Boy which I really love but just don't use & think it is for the reasons you mentioned. It just doesn't hold a lot for its bulk! I'm reasonably tall & can't cross body it either - which is a huge drawback. Lovely bag to look at but not very functional IMO.

Yes, Chanel bags are largely designed for the little ladies, which means you’ve gotta be on the ball when new seasonal bags come out as they tend to have all different length strap drops. Good luck deciding on what to do with your boy lovely!

I don't have any luxury bags. I'm a single mom and my budget is Coach and Rebecca Minkoff (who I love!). But I still watch channels like this in the hope that one day I can afford to buy whatever I'd like. I would think, however, that for the price of Chanel, the stitching would be way sturdier and should hold up better, right?? What am I missing?

Thanks for watching my vids Rosy, I started my contemplation of luxury handbags in the exact same way, when you choose your first you’ll be well informed and you’ll adore it! With regards to the stitching on this bag, what part are you referring to?

@@DaylesAddiction You had mentioned that the stitching had popped off on the Chanel limited edition on the inside corner and were worried about that happening to the grey boy bag (which I love the look of,btw). That's what I was referring to. I get that you need to be somewhat careful to keep the bags in beautiful condition, but it seems to me that stitching shouldn't come apart from filling a bag a bit too full once in a while.

@@sarahbritt1234 ah yes! That’s right, I was very rough with my first Chanel, I really had no idea 🤣🤣 I don’t think that would happen now, I’d be more respectful of the bag, absolutely still use it, but not shove umbrellas and water bottles inside 🤣🤣

Awwww too bad it’s not working for you. I have a gold boy and I just love it. It’s like a khaki gold. I think the colour of a bag can really make or break it. The grey of your bag is lovely but I find grey challenging because there are so many undertones that are different from one grey to the next that it seems difficult to match with clothes. My motto is if you dont need to sell it.......LOL..just keep it. Probably bad advice.

I thought the boy bag looked perfect with the outfit you wore in the clip. It’s a stunning combo but if it’s not great fit to your wardrobe then that’s no good.

I think it’s def time to let her go, you clearly aren’t loving her though when you put her on your shoulder on the first mod shot, she was stunning! That being said, if I couldn’t wear my boy cross body or it didn’t have the top handle, I would never ever wear it 💕

I think the bag looks too matronly for you. Its a bag to wear with a classic Chanel suit. Sell and buy something that is more you😊

I think Chanel bags are pretty but not necessarily functional. A super functional bag may not be necessarily pretty too. If that makes sense 🙂
