Brutal RC Buggy Test - Team Associated Reflex 14B Gama

The newest version of the Team Associated Reflex 14B is out and you can find it here: bit.ly/3GmqpTR It’s just like the previous version but with the new AE Gama style racing body covering the chassis. Well the ESC has been moved too. But it’s Greg hasn’t wheeled one of these in a long time and is excited for the opportunity to share it with you. In this video he’ll go over some of the buggies details and take it out for some harsh testing. In three locations actually. Is this mini buggy a racer or a pure basher. Watch the full video and let us know what you think!

Guys, I have the Gen 1 Reflex 14b and all I can say is it is still fun to play with after four or five years! The gen 1 only needs a wheel change if you decide to run it on street or dirt. This 2nd GEN looks a lot better out of the box for standard Bashing! This mini 14 scale when it came out it was so good they started race classes everywhere and team associated and other companies have a full line of upgrades. A lot of people that did not turn it into a full on club racer would just upgrade the ESC because there’s a tiny bit of lag, but for bashing I never noticed it. The thing jumps awesome and sounds really good. I love my set up so much that I bought 3 pairs of Losi mini 8 DB wheels before they stopped making them specifically for this RC. That combo is a match made in heaven and you get tons of run time out of those wheels. I haven’t ran the Losi buggy that came out a few years ago but I’d feel confident to say this is faster, more durable and better out the box. Very fast out the box! In fact, I’ve had probably over 50 RC’s anywhere from under $200-$1000 and this is one of my all-time favorite RC’s.

Now we need Losi to bring back that mini 8 or a mini 22-4 👍

Used to have the original version and it was pretty fun, but the esc (looks to be the same) was just a rebranded Hobbywing 16bl30 but wasn't programmable. Swapping it out for a programmable one made it much, much better. The tires on the original weren't great either. LC Racing buggy tires were a big improvement.

I bought one three years ago. I feel like I need to preface by saying I have over 30 cars and bla bla bal.... The only thing that has ever failed on it was a center bearing. That killed the spur gear, but that's it. I have had it to the skatepark several times, the carpet track, my dirt track, and bashed it all over. Maybe I bought the unicorn, but this is the most durable car I have ever bought.

I’ve had two of these little guys and got rid of them. They just weren’t built good and I love associated. Opted to keep all of my mini 8eights. They are so much stronger and made with more quality parts in my opinion. Not to mention when you stuff vxl electronics in they they rip really good. Out of control on 3s and geared properly on 2s they’re an animal on track. I did enjoy the reflex while it was running. I started blowing bearings and having driveline issues and electronic issues in both. Fat Eddie bearings helped but it wasn’t enough.

I have an original 14b with the fighter body on it & it's a blast! Tough, great handling on dirt & road & pretty darn quick! I had upgraded a Kyosho Inferno half 8 to brushless & all sorts of hop-ups, but it doesn't get anywhere near this. It's not for comps, just great handling, quick & tough. Buy it without worry :)

Radio gear seems to be an issue. Swap that and it's good to go. If you really wanna pep it up put in a 2445 5400 kv surpass motor with a 60a hobbywing bl esc, I'm also running a power hobby fan over the motor running it at 6k rpm. I run 6 minute races around 15 to 20 laps and the motor is barely warm. Anyone wanting to know about a good servo should look at the batan 135f its metal geared fast and durable. The car handles really really well, I'm running 85mm kyosho super sand tires on it and it doesnt miss a lick, 10k in front 10k in center 7k in rear unfortunately the diffs do have seals but no gasket so eventually the fluid does come out, about every 4 or 5 battery packs I crack it open and add more. Also hackfab makes some carbon fiber parts for it.

The fact that a TE took a beating without incident doesn't surprise me.. they've been building top shelf for years, regardless of scale

LC racing makes the best minis. More stability, control, and durability due to higher quality parts.

What were the carpet tires you used on this at RCMadness? I put my futaba receiver in mine and it completely changed the edginess with a little tuning.
