Bud is one of the rare Inosanto instructors who actually met Bruce Lee. He used to own a book store in the 60’s in Hollywood where Dan and Bruce frequented often. His Kali academy is one of the few that teaches the exact curriculum Inosanto taught in the 70.’s and80’s.

Bud is a legend. A real warrior, and a brother and father to so many who he built up. What a great man.

look, I'm a JKD guy, and learned a lot of Dan's stuff, but you aren't doing those convoluted arm wraps in a real fight against anyone decent.

Techniques don’t work when you’re a beginner. Remember if it doesn’t work. Throw it away. All techniques don’t work for everybody. Reject what’s useless and add what’s specifically your own. If you’re really Jed you should understand that first concept. Drill on techniques first aggressively. Then if it doesn’t work for you. Ignore it and move on. Remember Sigung Bruce said combat is different for everyone in this style

@@JasonJones-fp5rh That's what you believe when you hear a single comment passed down over the decades taken out of a passing statement and laid out as some foundational truth of what JKD is. . What I was told by Bruce Lee students who were with Bruce for many years, including Bob Bremer, (one of my two original China Town student teachers,) who was at Bruce's house on Sundays for training, Who was very good friends with Linda Lee after Bruce died, Who knew the curriculum well, who talked to Bruce frequently, and so MAY have a better take on what Bruce said than some flippant comment people repeat with no idea of the context or background of the statement. Bob said what Bruce taught them Bruce ALWAYS called JKD. It's true, Bruce told Bob to "express yourself," when fighting, but it was always in the context of simplified efficient movements. So right back at you. Imagine how we, who spent decades with Bruce Lee students, knew most of the other Bruce Lee students feel when people do and say things that are contrary to the teachings of JKD and pass them off as JKD. The feeling is not good. We actually know what the hell we are talking about.

Who is this instructor? These are variations of the kepala gajah, elephant head or what Guru Dan calls the 1/4 puter kepala from Silat. I don't care much for his entry, as I don't believe in trying to catch the punch like that. Aside from that, he's showing some good variations.

The entry is just a reference point of reference like the Pak Sao drill that starts from a connected position, no fight starts that way but for the sake of learning the importance of the technique you have to start somewhere, then you can adjust it according to what you like.

So most of the time if I am in a "REAL" fight , it happens at full speed . These slow motion Walk Thru demonstrations are literally useless , let us see a real time speed attack .
