Bruntingthorpe 2019 COLD WAR JETS FAST TAXI DAYS - AIRSHOW WORLD Filmed by James Edit by Stuart
Across the many years that Bruntingthorpe has held its biannual Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Days, air enthusiasts and members of public from across the country, have flocked to witness this spectacular event.
Bruntingthorpe Aviation voluntary teams work tirelessly throughout the year to maintain the Cold War Jets collection. Whilst these aircraft are currently retired from active duty, many of the jets remain in fully working order, therefore, twice a year, we open our doors for visitors to experience a truly unique event.
The Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Days sees a selection of the most popular aircraft perform full power taxi runs on the infamous Bruntingthorpe runway, it’s an event enjoyed by visitors young and old. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a family day out, the Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Days are a fun filled day.
The Cold War Jets Fast Taxi Days are scheduled to run on Sunday 26th May 2019 and Sunday 25th August 2019. The gates to the site open at 09:00am with the first jet taxi run often planned for approximately 11:00am. We charge a fee of £20 for adults, £15 for concessions, including pensioners and those with disabilities, and children under 16 are welcome free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are only available on the gate so please ensure you arrive in plenty of time.
For more information on this year’s open days please visit www.bruntingthorpe.com/aviati...

How wonderful that dedicated enthusiasts keep these aircraft 'alive', vastly superior to 'dead' static exhibits! The hugh cost and complexity of keeping just one of these old aircraft constantly airworthy is staggering. It's really great to see these displays, as they are the next best thing to seeing them airborne, seeing and hearing them running, and moving under their own power complete with the lovely avgas smells!. Thank you and well done to all involved.

They would have been scrapped otherwise, the MoD tend to sell a few and then scrap the rest. It's nothing to do with the "Nanny state" really, they are just old, worn out and extremely complex aircraft. Some of the aircraft shown were unreliable when they were new, they don't get better with age.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - some incredibly stunning (some incredibly brutal) looking aircraft. Above all else, it’s great to see them out and about and getting a chance to stretch their legs a bit, even if they don’t all get to take their place in the sky. Those Lightnings with their huge engines, barely functional wings and dad-bod gut hanging out are so great.

I have been many times, and would advise everybody to go (if you like planes etc). You can get right up close to the planes und everything happens in a small area, so there will be no walking around a massive airfield with crowds of thousands of people. Also because it tends to be a smaller niche crowd there is not the usual dreaded after event 4 hour traffic jam to look forward to.

I know this might get me a lot of hate, but i think some of the aircraft of this era look hideous. Not trying to offend anyone but some of them look like a potato or a ugly carrot with wings on it. Or the victor which looks like a giant moth. Not boring though. This is just from a design standpoint, still great engineering.
