To me, this was the Golden Age of KZread. The great legends that made amazing content. The Key of Awesome, Smosh (just Ian and Anthony), old school Pewdiepie, Tobuscus, Ray William Johnson and many more. Now that Golden age is over... Being taken over by drama, stupid diss tracks, "Wanna join my free give away?!", big companies and many more crappy things. When KZread had a lot of creators that made content full of love. Ah... Take the rose tinted glasses off my dude. It wasn't better, it was just different. It was also the era of clickbait, low-effort sensationalism and endless Call of Duty killstreak montages. If you only judge KZread by its trending tab (and forget all the bad parts from the past) then of course you'll have that point of view. KZread content since then has grown infinitely more versatile, in-depth, and mature with shows like Binging with Babish, Hot Ones, podcasts for every conceivable topic, politics discussion with actual substance and so on. Again, this isn't necessarily better, just different.

When I’m having a bad day I binge watch these videos 😂 yes it’s 2021 and I’ll play these like they just came out

I have so many favorites that it's hard to pin just one down!!!The Bruno Mars Grenade parody is brilliant but so is Call Me Maybe, The Game of Thrones, Macklemore Thrift Shop, and Lordes Royals. The list could go on and on. I was going to suggest that you do a parody of 'Zombie' since zombies are back 'in', then I heard you do it just a few days later in that great famous singer parody. Can I just say how genuinely clever and funny this video is? I'm not saying it's brilliant, but I think Key of Awesome has really become underappreciated over the years. I mean, the whole idea of pushing the original premise of the song so far that he's threatening to decapitate himself and go off his medication is cute, but then him realizing that his girlfriend doesn't want any of that and just wants him to do cliche "girl stuff" with her, which to him is worse than all the things he threatened to do earlier, is actually a hilarious subversion and just good comedy writing. I know Key of Awesome was pretty hit or miss, especially in hindsight, but they had some gems, man. I hope Mark is doing well.

I watched every Video of them when I was around 13-16 years old and it was an awesome time overall! Now there are much more mainstream singers and popstars that it got out of hand.. doing parodies nowadays wouldn't make any sense in my opinion

Yes, I think it's playing on the fact that in the original song, the narrator does indeed sound somewhat "deranged" (as this parody describes him). He says to the target of his desire that he'll "catch a grenade for you", etc. and continues to give his list of ridiculously self-sacrificial (and self-destructive) promises even *after* he's seen her with somebody else. At least this parody of the song offers him some chance of hope in life by having the girl talk some sense to him. And it's true that it's a pity that parody channels aren't really around any more, but really, how would you parody a song by the likes of Sam Smith or Lizzo? The satire writes itself (and you'd probably be accused of hating in both those examples even if you tried it). No, this channel began and ended at more or less the right time, I think, as much as I miss it.

This is the KOA that got me on this train. It's so spot on and I like that it shines a light on these pop love songs with really creepy lyrics. I'd say do a parody of Every Breath You Take, but that one really makes fun of itself. Who listens to those and thinks, Aww that's so sweet?
