Brunello Bliss, indeed! I love the alliteration in this title and the truth of it because, without doubt, Brunello di Montalcino brings blissful tastings and inspires blissful moments. This Il Poggione video certainly makes me want to revisit Italy and track down the 2016 and 2019 vintages. To be back in Montalcino right now would be heaven! Thank you for sharing this BdM video with plenty of insights and information. Also agree with you regarding the good value that this producer offers (compared to others). Appreciate the beautiful visuals in this video as well as the brilliant narrative and outstanding presentation. Cheers and Happy Friday, John!

Just had Banfi 2015. Bought it in an Italian supermarket last year. Was probably standing upright for quite some time. It was hidden behind younger vintages. Cork was fine. Visually it was clearly aged. The tannins were already nicely smoothened and the acidity was very lively. Ready to drink but far from end of life. That being said, aging for about 10 years sounds good.

We had the 2012 riserva at newyear's eve. It was pure joy. gave it 3 houre of air before, still young. After that i stacked up a bit on the 2016, bouth normal and riserva. 80$ riserva and 50$ normal.. well worth it..

Yes, Il Poggione make good stuff. I have a couple of bottles of the 2016. I was last in the area in 2017 and visited Montelcino and several producers. I'm very fortunate to buy from a retailer in South Wales. The owner is a Master of Wine and his speciality is Italian wine. He's always on the lookout for great price/quality of interesting wine and is extremely informative. It's fascinating how much good stuff is out there floating under the radar. My speciality is Spanish wine, as you know, so I'm well aware of under the radar gems. Going back to Il Poggione and Brunello, I've decided to dive in and try some more modestly priced offerings. I have some blockbuster Brunellos but you have to pay. I want to taste what regular folk in the region can afford and enjoy. I did that in the wine regions of Umbria when I was there and it was most rewarding. Cheers John. Keep up the good work. WT

Thanks to your recommendation, John, I managed to secure half a case of the 2019. I have Brunellos from other producers from 2015, 2016 and 2018, which will keep me going until Il Poggione is ready to drink. The one bottle of my half-case 2015 Val di Suga I have drunk so far was outstanding.

@@AttorneySommBy the bye, the 2004 Musar I have just poured is absolutely stunning - it is such a unique wine but it does need time to give of its best, imho. Hello John. I know you have tasted a lot of Brunellos recently but I can't remember if you mentioned Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Pianrosso. I have three bottles of the 2018 at TWS cellars. Have you tasted this producer? Also, '18 might be more forward than the '16s judging by various comments. How would you describe 2018 in Brunello? I know it has been overshadowed by '15, '16 and '19 - I have half cases of each of those from various producers. Many thanks.

@@stevenholt4936 Hello Steven: I don’t recall trying this producer and don’t see it in my pictures. 18 was definitely cooler and a vintage to enjoy a bit younger while those other vintages mature.
