This news coverage is most likely from 1997. The reporter mentioned how the community was founded “77 years ago.” The Bruderhof came into existence in 1920. With that being the case in addition to the computer style, this was definitely from 1997.

Ramon. You are a Saint!!!! How you inspired me to writing! I was illiterate to the age of fifty on account of being a Bruderhof orphan for having been born illigitamate, spending most of my childhood in 'Ausschluss' Heini Arnold's quoting me many times: "Die Suende deiner Mutter IST in Dir, und die muss ich dir austreiben' - Thanks Ramon for all the many privaliges You imparted on me!! That also applies to Judy for all the generocities she showered me with when I spent time at your home!!!!!

went to high school with the bruders & enjoyed thanksgiving with them one year. i feel like this is trying to make them seem more like a cult than they are. you can choose to stay or leave. if you leave - you can still see your family from what i understand. they're allowed to contact people outside of the commune.. and they often do. they are so kind and considerate to the people in town. especially the elders who live alone.

This program makes no sense. If he wanted to see his daughter, all he would have to do is walk in there and see her. Who is going to stop him? These people are trying to live like Jesus. As soon as they lay hands on him they go to hell. LOL I've seen people leave the Bruderhof and then return. Maybe some of their locations around the world are different than others. Who knows.

I think her supposed reason of death is BS. Her husband had also left the cult, he also died suspiciously. I think their deaths were orchestrated by the cult. They had instances of being followed and threatened previously (which of course the cult will deny). The whole thing makes me so sad. She was so much fun and so creative, she had such an innate joy & light despite everything she went through.

It’s a common problem with all insular communities, because all people have a selfish and sinful side. There has to be some wiggle room or the people will either disintegrate as a group, or worse, devour one another.

This is a relevant today as in I think it was 1992 shown on the computer orders on screen, when it was made- the extent to which in the US and here in the UK we let people alone even if people leave and whether any insular community should keep the children when a parent leaves. We see it all over from the ultra orthodox jews to this group - a King Solomon illustrated you cannot cut children in half so if exposure to the outside means the child is in a sense also split there is a circle it is hard to square. As divorce law goes with maintaining the status quo for children (unless they are in danger as with the FLDS under Warren Jeffs for example) it is not too surprising that courts often decide children are better off left in the groups. I would say to the groups that at the very least let parents and grandparents see photographs (as here).

I do trust they believe in salvation by grace alone in Jesus Christ who is the thrill of hope, for a sick, hurting, and weary world-Romans 10:9-10 from the Bible: “That if you confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.”
