A rare performance of the Bruckner 1, utterly refreshing to my ears, scores full of wonder and his signature written all over it. An exuberant Symphony full of youthful force throughout the movements without pretentious attitude, faithful to his heart and style. A great piece that was coldly received when it was premiered. To me it is as if a precious stone have been unearthed from a long sleep. Let us revive this wonderful piece, Bruckner Symphony No.1 !!

From the beginning of the time, when I got to know Bruckners works and could never let go of that enormous music afterwards, I became aware that he was one of the greatest composers in terms of counterpoint and harmonization.Technically.What enormous priorities and their solution.Who else had that beside abilities near Mozart and Beethoven? I would have treated him to hear his works. Some he has never heard, such as the mighty ninth. Today he would probably be surprised about the performance of good orchestras.

He is a heavy-weight. Those who love Wagner, Brahms, Mahler and Richard Strauss must love Bruckner---his music is sublime, cosmic, expansive and sometimes borders on the mystical. This symphony was dedicated to his hero Wagner. An immortal work!

But you must admit some people just don't like his music. It is so strongly marked with his unique style, that one wag once said he wrote the same symphony nine times. You certainly have to put your "Bruckner head" on to appreciate these wonderful works, and let him take you at his own pace. Some people are irritated by the constant building to a climax and then abruptly stopping, the musical coitus interruptus. And to add his 00 is just a study work where Bruckner had a very specific task. He had to conform to harmonic and structural standards to show that he internalized them. That's why he never considered counting it among his works. It was an exercise, nothing more, never meant to be performed as an indivudal statement of his artistic decisions. So in that sense this here really is his first symphony, because it is the first one were he wrote like he wanted to write and not like his teachers expected him to.

in some sense, but in general I fell like this is really Brucknerian. There are those classic chromatic increases of a short motif to build tension, the classic groupings of 4, lots of brass. To me, all four movements feel like typical Bruckner introductions, adagios, scherzos and finales.

It is not easy, at first, to appreciate Bruckner’s music. However when we listen, mainly to his symphonies, with greater insistence we enter and discover a fantastic world of harmony and beauty that progressively enchant us. His music gives us a feeling of divine freedom and fullness. It transports us to a new world of sublime sensitivity and beauty. Today I consider Bruckner’s works to be true masterpieces that touch us emotionally in a way that is simultaneously profound and with an indescribable fullness. The orchestral performance and its direction are magnificent. Thanks for this magnificent recording.
