Bruce Springsteen - Losin’ Kind (Nebraska Outtakes, 1982)
This is an acoustic take on January 3, 1982, one of the fifteen demos that Springsteen put on a tape. This is the definitive circulating take, but was not chosen for Nebraska. Springsteen wrote to Landau, "Searched and searched for a better title, spent many hours on this task but no good. I like the verses but I can't seem to find a better punch line. Kind of like a James M. Cain story. Could be done with more of a band arrangement." V5 (uncirculating) was recorded at Power Station on April 30, 1982. At that time Springsteen was attempting to re-create that demo tape magic in a more professional environment - this take could be solo or with the band. A year later Bruce would make one more attempt to record "Losin' Kind", this time at Thrill Hill West, his Hollywood Hills studio, on March 12, 1983 (V6, also uncirculating). Without bootlegs, we would never know that "Losin' Kind" exists; officially, it has never been released.

This is my first time hearing this & I can't believe it was never officially released ? What a precious song it is ! My new obsession for the next month.
Can't believe this was left off. With Atlantic City it would have been the strongest track on the album.
Stumbled across this outtake by accident, its another classic from Bruce. I think, I prefer the slow intimate songs too the stadium rockers
Artists would sell their soul to have a song this good, and he left it off the album.

É a primeira vez que ouço essa música. Tentei passar direto, buscando alguma longe da minha lembrança, por algum momento vivido há 30,40 ou 50 passados. Mas, felizmente o instinto musical funcionou. De novo. Já me "salvou" em me manter bem longe do lixo oto-infecto-contagioso há uns 30 anos em vigor na face do planeta. Volta e meia caio nessa teia, ou piso no visgo da jaca.
