Cool little stove. I would definitely try that out if I needed to replace my MSR stove. I would love to see a full length backpacking of yours in the future.

I really like this stove and use it as the center of my lightweight butane kit. I like it a bunch! My ultralight kit is alcohol based around a Zelph Starlyte. Found you from over at Yankees Outdoor Adventures - subscribed! :)

I've got this little stove, and really like it. Only two issues, one I know the arms are strong enough to support bigger and heavier cookware but they don't fold quite as much as would be ideal to support such cookware. I use mine exclusively with those stainless steel GSI mugs with long folding, non-coated handles. (The same type of mugs you can find at Wal-mart under their Ozark Trail brand name for a bit less money.) Works well with those, but stability is a bit of an issue. You have to position the mugs carefully. Even then, the mug tilts down a bit towards the extended handles. Not much, but it is noticeable. So, absolutely flat surface for the fuel canister to rest on is a MUST. Only other thing is that even a mild wind effects the flame. It has never blown out on me when using a high or med. flame. But that flame does blow back and forth a bit too easily. If you're going to a Winter excursion where mid to high winds are easily going to be be there, this is NOT the stove for you. It's a good, small, very light-weight stove ideal for a cook kit and general camping use. If you're looking for a canister stove you can use with a large pot for cooking enough food for a handful of people at once, this is definitely NOT the stove you are looking for. But for boiling one or two cups of water in a small pot/large mug, this one is a good choice. Cup and a half of luke warm water takes about 15 minutes to boil with a S.S. lid in place. (I use the one that came on my Stanley cook kit.) Ice cold water, same amount, takes 20-25 minutes. Again with cover in place. But I don't use the absolutely highest setting. I can get several uses out of one very small fuel canister.

Just got one last week as a backup to my jetboil Sol stove when winter snow camping and melting snow is the only option to make water.

Really cool lightweight and compact stove. I still have the compact burner I got from you a few years back (the one in the orange plastic carry case), along with yours and other alcohol stoves. All are working great however, at 70+ yrs old I'm tending to do less and less overnights these days so I expect what I have will last me :-) Good seeing you again John, hang in there...

I like the simplicity and bear bones nature of this stove. Although it is for sure lighter than my current stove I don't think I'll be trading it for my wood burning stove any time soon. I love that stove lol

I've been happy with mine but it does seem to sputter a little. I only use smaller pots with it. It's in my titanium kit. I also still love the rolled top alcohol stoves I bought years ago from you. Thanks for the video bro.

Sweet little piece of gear! And the price is right too. somewhere in my gear "Closet" I have a similar name brand stove I forget which one. They work very nice. I do like an alcohol stove but I'm not sure with fuel or canister what the weight difference might be. I've got a Jetboil too but I wont use it on a backpack trip due to weight and size. But it works nice for a day hike. Peace Brother!

Love these stoves as well. Two suggestions: First, pack it in something (pot, etc.) in your pack, because they are delicate. Second, bury the gas canister if you can. It will give the stove more stability. It can get top-heavy with a pot of water on it.

i also have this stove, its nice, and i modded it by putting a small line of kapton tape around the shaft (inside out), by sliding the tape over the holes i can switch from stove to a fuel efficient camping light :)

Nice stove in many ways... But I need a great stove for the winter months... Used a canister stove a couple weeks ago in 18* weather... Canister in the sleeping bag,Duct Tape, Hot Hands didn't keep the canister warm enough for cooking in the morning.

I hear that brother. We were on a winter trip a couple years ago that dropped to about minus 15 (still need to upload that vid, lol) and ran a canister stove to melt snow for all our water. Didn't have any issues... fortunately. P.S. Shoot me over an email (address is in my "about" section on page) and I'll send you over one of those stoves if you're up for it.

If I remember right Jet Boil and I am sure other fuel canister suppliers changed the formula for the fuel so it burns at lower temperatures?

Well stated review. I have one too, and carry it in addition to an alcohol stove like the one you make. Great combo, if I run out of fuel that I carry for either, I have a backup. I'd like to score some spare O rings for the little BRS just to be on the safe side, anyone have a source other than the local Ace Hardware? My guess is it may be a metric size vs. something common.

One of the things that makes me nervous about gas stoves is the recycle-ability of the gas cans. Any thoughts on that? My wife got me an alcohol stove for my birthday and I'm looking forward to using it this spring as alcohol is relatively eco-friendly and decently light weight.

I've owned one of these for over a year. I don't think it could be made smaller/lighter/better w/o upping the price. Two thumbs up from me...My price was $14, a bargain for titanium.

If you spill sweet and sour sauce on that jimping then would it also be full tang? Nice review buddy, and looks like a good stove.

Downside is that it is very unstable with one of the most popular cooksets, the Stanley adventure cup. Any solutions?

Hi John. The stove may be ultralight but the fuel canister is not.

After over 2 years of use the only flaw is the flame is very concentrated. It makes a hot spot. Thought of the Optimius 1.5 oz stove. It has a head that looks to be about 1.5 to 2 inch burner head. But the BRS is l so light and small. This stove is also very sensitive to wind. I have come up with a wind screen you can use with no canister heating issue. See my video. But I'll keep using it.

I'm not familiar with butane cannisters. How many 2-cup pots of water can one canister bring to a boil?

The people who complain about it giving out from the looks of things are putting too heavy of a load on it. If you’re going to use stainless mugs and Stanley cook pots then you need to get a heavier duty option. Stick to lightweight pieces and this should hold up fine. I’m sure QC could be questionable but a one star review I saw had it boiling more than 1 liter of water. I don’t think it’s made for that.

three or four bucks too much for you?Wow. Maybe burning wood is your best option, perhaps borrow some matches, I'm sure a lighter is also out of your delicate budget.

The information you offer your videos is the reason I keep coming back to your channel, but the condescending tone you use in your videos is why I keep unsubscribing; why not use your normal "speaking voice"?
