What makes me sad is this music was the backdrop of my childhood. Because it was always there, I took it for granted. Had no idea of the direction in which music would devolve, and I didn’t appreciate it until years later. I don’t think any of us knew how good we had it. The 90s was not just the zenith of R&B music, I think it was the zenith of America. We were on this upward trajectory, we weren’t mired down in any wars, and then boom, 9/11 broke us and sent us into a downward spiral. Music became more and more artificial, you have the rise of autotune and music stardom for people that can’t actually sing, and essentially the death of R&B. The 90s was our Golden Age.

It’s amazing how Tory lanez took this instrumental and made a hit out of it as well!!!!
Yes, blackღ ladiesღ in the 90s were so classyღ cute💗. And, one of the best songs from the 90s. Real music not like today's music.
That harmony is phenomenal 👍🏽💕

Chris Leonard we French all grew up with the same mainstream Rnb stars. A few of us still listen the good old rnb and also the less popular US rnb. Yes the US rnb is still listened in France and Europe (i’m at the border France/Switzerland and Germany)

@Chris Leonard 90s R&B was a game for the initiated, you had to buy imported cds and vinyls. I saw Mary J. live in France a couple of years ago and you could tell the audience had grown up with her 90s sound. What a great era this was.
Not a bad song on the entire cd. Thank you M.J for the introduction of these beautiful Queens no matter how short lived
Desde que tenía 15 años me.encanta y tengo 42,es un grupo maravilloso, que no caiga en el olvido, saludos desdeEspaña
Them African Queens was bad...💯💪🏾
We GenXer’s sure had some damn good music in our day, didn’t we?!! I took good music like this for granted and had no idea it wouldn’t last forever.. 😢

Millennial? In 1994, the oldest millennial would have been 14. These women are clearly not teenagers. 🙄
HAD THIS TAPE PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER IN 1995 WITH MY BEST FRIEND WHEN WE HAD JUST GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND I SPENT THE SUMMER WITH HER IN SOUTH CAROLINA WITH HER OLDER SISTER AND HER HUSBAND. SADLY HE JUST PASSED AWAY LAST MONTH. RIPJIM❤

I don't think anyone truly appreciates the value and quality of their voices. People just don't sound like this anymore.
If You are Listening to this, You Also Have AMAZING TASTE :)
These are the voices we need to hear today in R&B

Its actually a remix version of the song called the Soft Touch Mix. For the video they used the LP version for the first 2:40 then this remix for the last minute. Super dope you didn't see that done much.

This song has always brought tears to my eyes. The beauty of the melody. The loveliness of the voices. The vulnerability of the lyrics. A perfect song for the pure in heart who aren’t afraid to assert their needs & stand up for them.
you truly just had to be there....1995 was a different time...being a teenager during this era was everything. if you still listen to this as if its brand new...SALUTE!!
Talent + class = perfection.
Rest in Peace 🕊️ Charmayne we miss you girl. You were so precious and different. Glad you got a chance to show us your talent ...☝🏾💪🏿🧘🏿♀️🕊️👈🏿

This would never get old or played out!🔥
Y’all they were not playin😩the arrangement has this beautiful jazz cadence thats just perfect with their harmonies. That break down at 2:42 whew!!
These girls will straight up school any recent singer on musical talent not to mention they had great appeal.
It's 2022 and I just discovered Brownstone and this song yesterday and can't stop playing it! They should have been mega-huge...so talented and such powerful voices.

I miss the old days, God We had the Best music, Beautiful Ladies, with the most incredible Voices. Music was Real and it meant something when you heard it for the FIRST TIME. Only if we could roll back time. 80s and 90s.
2023 and this song still bangs and brings back so many memories and nostalgic fuzzy feelings.😍😎
And that jazz breakdown...three breathtakingly beautiful Queens...HE exists🙏🏿
