Brownell's Disconnect Scraper for the 1911 Pistol

Just a brief video that has nothing at all to do with the Philippines--except for the Rock Island Armory slide on the pistol!

I highly recommend the DVD by AGI on "trouble shooting the 1911". It shows multiple ways to dial in everything just right for proper smooth function and much much better reliability. After I got the DVD on mine I changed out to stronger spring on the main spring, stronger spring on magazine. I had to ramp the shaft of barrel a few thousandths more with Dremel using mill cutter and radius around the bottom to sides of shaft of barrel, then 600 grit and 800 grit sanding cone on Dremel, rubber cone with green polishing compound and felt cone with green polishing compound. Then oiled it up. I smoothed up the feed ramp with rubber cone and felt bob cone with green polishing compound. I had to modify the extractor to better specs from awesome tips on the DVD for way better functionality. Lastly on the top mouth of my 1911 magazines they were a hint to tight which caused feeding issues from the magazine so I removed one thousandths of an inch off each side with smooth file while spring was removed. Then 1,000 grit India stone, rubber cone and felt bob cone with green polishing compound with Dremel. The smooth file and 1,000 grit India stone was done by hand. After that gave it a thorough cleaning and oiling. From there no more jams and no more feeding issues none whatsoever and it works like a charm. The 1911 is not made like it was according to military specs from World War I and World War II. So since the factory is getting them ready at top notch speed as fast as they can from there it's about 90 percent to specs on 1911s. For this reason many people don't like them. I happen to like them because once there dialed into perfect specs from following the troubleshooting DVD on 1911 by AGI. You'll have no more issues and you'll have yourself one great pistol with great functionality. You just have to dial that baby in and she'll be just fine. 😁

I just bought a new 1911 and in the pretravel just before the trigger hits the wall I’m getting a click which I think is the disconnector hitting the slide since the channel isn’t deep enough. Annoying on a gun that cost $2,500! Calling the manufacturer today about sending it back to be fixed.. Looks like an easy fix with this tool but for the price I paid for this pistol they can do it LOL.

It is simply scraper. It allows you to deepen or lengthen the channel so the head of the disconnector can pop up far enough to let the pistol fire.

I was just about to say the same thing. I think it's for the mean streets of Maitland, Florida. Ha ha
