For so very long dark skinned girls and women have always had to take a back seat in different ways since the time of slavery. We have been made to feel ashamed of our complexions and our hair texture, our full lips our , thick thighs and big behinds . Now the in thing is to spend thousands of dollars to have what they saw as ugly until .... Someone recognized the beauty that is being a BEAUTIFUL BROWN SKINNED GIRL.... BEYONCE THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING SONG

Now that medical procedures have made it possible, they are disclosing how they actually feel. Damn, I'm white and this video has me teared up, can only imagine the depth of feeling (see purple shorts girl or the two lovely women at the end) it must inspire in people that the song actually pertains to and who have been through innumerable episodes of oppression, colorism, self-loathing etc only to finally receive this one moment of beautiful recognition. What a gift Beyonce has given the world and what a gift Patience J. has given these women, a space where they can be uplifted and find themselves and walk with pride and power in the world.

@@majotorres2607 Mexican girls with your skin color and lighter don't have kinky hair or skin that shines like pearls like dark skin. Let us have a song that finally supports us for once. The song is meant for black girls. Get over it and stop acting delusional.

Patience J, if there was a way to throw any more love on this video than I like I would heap all of it on there. Loving all the different takes on the same dance. Glad to see the 3 minis in the beginning are still dancing together and have their own style and rhythm with each other. Loving the couple: guy in the white top with the girl in the ‘Afro in Heels’ top. LOVED what they created together. They moved really well together. Just enough sexiness without being too overt about it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

if you ever have a baby girl or boy, light, brown or dark, dark, dark BEAUTIFUL SKIN promise me this.... you will tell them from the day they’re born: ‘Your skin is flawless’ and even when they’re growing up you remind them...daily, dont miss one day without saying ‘Your beauitful baby girl’ or ‘I love your melanin’. Promise me. Please. Trust me, they won’t feel different in a negative, but positive way. Wish my Mother taught me that, I had to think my own way and it ended me up here...and i’m so proud🙂 xox
