u could actually get npc specific clothes like this by reverse pickpocketing better armor. got elder lyons robes and a few lamplight clothes that way. its also funny seeing the kids run around in power armor and raider gear

It's probably the game's mechanic of NPC equipping the best armor they have in their inventory. But I prefer to believe it's simply my guy Casdin going "Whoa, nice armor you got there, I'll just take it for a test drive, don't want this to fall into the wrong hands, do we?" EDIT : autocorrect

Casdin believes you to be little more than common wasteland trash, until you prove him wrong and then yes he actually starts to like you. Heck you are technically supposed to be an honorary outcast once you’ve got them enough stuff but the trigger for the generic outcasts dialogue to change over is bugged.

Considering how much power armor you turn in to him for prizes he knows how little it would protect him IF he incurs the players wrath....

It's possible to get a unique set of Outcast Power armor in the game. It concerns doing a favor for one of Harold's weird tree cult followers. If you pass a speech check, you learn that one of the cult members used to be an Outcast Brotherhood member until he was attacked by a Deathclaw. The cultists healed him. With his severe wounds patched up, he joined them. You'd expect his armor to be ruined and ripped apart. It isn't, and he kept it. Do him a favor concerning Harold, and he gives you his unique Outcast armor. No worries if you stop by to visit the guy in the video. It's the only Outcast armor that he doesn't confiscate from you.

Its funny... but its programmed for all NPC's more or less in multiple games. If you give armour thats better than what they are wearing in say Skyrim same thing happens. Its hillarious but its programmed to do so regardless of character.

I like turning in power armor and taking it back from him. If you knock him out, you can loot his inventory when he’s unconscious and turn it back in to him to get more supplies.

@@TheIrishRushin you can use paralyzing palm without causing to much damage to casdin. It works about a quarter of the time in V.A.T.S. Just have a save after you finish turning in power armor sets to him

I was incredibly rich by the point I met him in the game so I would never have considered that. I was too busy hulling around a bunch of trash and old equipment to immediately sell to venders for me to actually come across him, so I found him pretty damn late in the game. Hell, by that point I had a ridiculous amount of power armor that I had been actively trying to get rid of, so I never gave the idea of taking it back a single thought

With much of their equipment being poorly maintained with both rust and the worn paint jobs, and the fact they would rather outsource their operation to scavengers looking for cheap pay. Its even funnier in context of the Brotherhood being hypocrites in their own agenda and ranks. You can take the advanced tech away from the human, but you can take the human away from the advanced tech. Especially when you realize that the Brotherhood of Steel in the future they become reunifed under 1 banner they become xenophobic despots. "We'll protect your homes in return for a massive cut of your supplies and goods as well as all your advanced weapons and ammo. If you say no we'll take it by force and leave you for the the wastelands to finish off." They literally fall to the corruption they were created to prevent. To prevent the abuse of advanced technology. They have grown to a size that they cannot remain true to their own mandates. Just like the NCR corruption and abuse of power is born not from one evil man, but a flawed system.

The sad thing is that the Outcast’s armor is cooler.

The fact that he immediately puts it on is very reminiscent of Morrowind. After you sold enough armor to merchants they would look like absolute freakshows since armor was divided into so many individual pieces. So you'd have a guy wearing one Dwemer boot, one Glass boot, mismatched gloves and pauldrons...

Yeah, I have trouble understanding why people like the Outcasts. All they do is treat you like crap until you've made yourself most helpful, then they reward you by treating you like a pet. Not a single playthrough of mine doesn't result in me wiping their faction off the map when the word "wildlife" starts getting tossed around a little too casually. And let's not forget the Outcasts being re-absorbed into the DC Brotherhood is what makes the faction unlikable in Fallout 4 as well. I tried to prevent it by killing them all, but Bethesda overruled me.

I always use console command to switch his armor to his original one, because otherwise it breaks the immersion in my opinnion.

Why would you went caps? All the power armor and energy weapons that can he found easily are low condition and sell for little caps, here you can get much more valuable frags and things and sell those for caps.

They literally supply you with 11 stimpaks of you give them Enclave power armour. If you have the Winterized T-51b power armour and you just give them Enclave power armour you will have a damn near infinite source of 5.56mm, stimpaks, radaway and grenades if that isn't good enough I don't know what is.

All the talk of reverse pickpocketing reminds me of when I tried to reverse pickpocket a pistol and some ammo into a slave's inventory so he could fight against his raider captors, of course he caught me and just tried to run from me, and he wasn't aggro to the raiders so giving him the gun wouldn't have done anything, but it just reminded me of when I tried to be creative in a bethesda game.

So there's actually a reason for this. Each NPC has a hidden stat for basically determining how brave they are; from being cowardly and not fighting regardless of having a weapon, to being foolhearted where they are so brave they will try to kill anything that's hostile, even stuff they are no match for like deathclaws and a super mutants. If you play this on PC, you can change this stat using console commands allowing you to turn the slave into a crazed psycho trying to kill anything that is hates. This stat also appears in New Vegas and Fallout 4, as well as Skyrim.

When I first played fallout 3 and I turned in the power armors I thought I’d discovered some type of glitch 😂

"Not much on its own, but the optics are nice. I know, because im going to be looking through them, thanks, heres your stim packs loser."

Don't worry, the "vaults" are just on his body.

I love the idea of him starting to put on the power armour and just handing you a stimpack like it's normal, while standing in the middle of a field

I don't think that еру Outcasts would have much use for LP, since they're more of an expeditionary force, and mentioned a couple of times that they are planning on going back West once their mission in DC is done. I don't think they'd take Liberty Prime with them along the way. If they would ever repair it in the first place

I Always wiped them out in my Playthroughs. I didn't want them eventually gaining strength and being a problem after the brotherhood defeated the Enclave. Ironically that's exactly what happened in Fallout 4.

The Outcast Fort has that rocket launcher that's fired like a mortar. Miss something. Had to sneak in and out just to steal it without them noticing.

The only thing keeping this guy alive in any of my playthroughs is that he sells everything I could possibly need once I get the Xuanlong assault rifle. If it wasn't for that I would wipe out that dumb building full of tech hoarders

Yeah the Mark II really isn't the best-looking power armor out there. Seems to be the exception though, the Mark I, Tesla Mark I, Tesla Mark II, and Hellfire all look amazing.

I give him the Alien Blaster when it breaks, if you kill/pickpocket him directly after giving him the blaster it fully repairs it.

One thing I love doing with him is, during the Raven Rock quest is to hoard each and every single set of power armor and energy weapons in the place i put all the loot somewhere near the entrance of Raven Rock fast travel back and forth between Raven Rock and the Outcast base to turn everything in for stimpaks then murder him and take all my loot back and sell it to somebody else. Fuck tons of free Stimpaks.
