Those two defendants do not look qualified to take care of anyone. Something so simple as bathing someone is more difficult and requires lots of physical strength than you think when the person cannot walk and what is the point if the person fights with you when you try to bathe them and continues doing number 1s and 2s on themselves all day? That is why real nurses and medical assistants at nursing homes are better suited for the job.

@@cjking4511But since the mom was nonverbal, it was the families’ responsibility to get help-speak to social workers and other agents to put home care in place. My mother and I had taken care of my brother for the last 5 years until his passing in May. He was also nonverbal, unable to walk and had a horrific cancer that was literally eating away his throat. We took 24/7 care of him because he had a tracheotomy, feeding tube, needing meds throughout the day…Even with home hospice care, nurse visits were limited. We could get a home attendant to come sit with him and bathe him, but they could not attend to his other necessary needs. Being a caregiver is beyond difficult, but your driving force is love. We did everything for him-all the doctors were amazed at how well cared for he was and that he never had bedsores-as soon as his skin looked irritated, we took action to prevent them. There were three family members that could have done the bare minimum of keeping their mother clean, and getting the proper care for her through government agencies that can connect you to the services. Yes, it requires research, it’s time consuming and frustrating, but you need to persevere until it gets done. Your family member deserves it!

Right! The defense attorney is trying to say they didn't know how bad her condition was because she wasn't really verbal or showing signs of pain. So it didn't seem abnormal that the bone was sticking out at her ankle and the skin was dark. She was very light skinned in her pictures so that significant of a color change would have been obvious. I think the children have some sort of disability (not saying mentally incompetent) and the father was basically left to care for everyone while still working. Just awful! Sounds like both parents needed to be in a facility and the adult "children" needed some oversight by a social worker.

You and your sisters probably had the mental capacity and were cognitively able to help. These individuals look to have a mental deficit. Their mother should have never been left in their “care”. Had she been in another country where elder health care is a right and not a privilege, she would have had the care she deserved. In the US, it’s so hard to get help unless the family can either do it own their own (not everyone can do this); or unless the family is financially inclined to do so (not everyone is). These people were probably on the lower socio-economic scale with low IQs, so it was going to be an automatic fail for their mother by everyone.

Of course it’s great if they can and have the time to help, but if they choose not to, it’s not fair to hold it against them. Taking care of elderly parents can take a toll on whomever the caregiver is and stop their life. The defendants definitely should’ve found some other way to help (since they were around anyway) because the condition of her body was horrible.

Bathing someone who is heavyset requires lots of physical strength and often that person will fight with you against being bathed out of fear you may drop them or fear derived from their legs not having full function. It doesn’t take much to know that daily cleaning is important. Seems like no one including the father took any steps to get proper care for Mrs. Murray. Oh my this is so horrible and a cruel way to die! Like some have mentioned, these are NOT children, but adults that were supposed to be taking care of their mom! I had to take care of my parents and I made sure they were taken care of before anything else! It is so heartbreaking that Sheila Murray was aware of what was happening to her and had to be in extreme pain! R.I.P. Sheila!! No one deserves so much paid and neglect! These adult children could have at least kept her CLEAN and called for help! No excuse at all for total neglect! It was told during opening statements that Sheila kept falling out of the bed, but it was also stated previously that she had a hospital bed. A hospital bed has rails! There is NO excuse to let her lay in filth!

The reason they refused to put her in a nursing home was because by doing so they would lose access to her SS money because that would go to the nursing home directly, Medicaid and Medicare pays for all other expenses. That's how the system works.

That wouldn't do anything. There is police bodycam footage here on KZread of an elderly man who is threatening to kill his wife because he can't handle being her caretaker anymore. The police just laugh and tell them to get along. The bedridden wife begs the officers not to leave because he has threatened to kill her. They brush her off and leave anyway. Later on that day, he kills her.

I think the charges are to harsh, however they should be charged with something. the providers should be charged too. There is No Way they (her children) didn't know the condition of there mother. How often was her caregiver coming that her children couldn't keep her from loosing her eye, washing her face and keeping it clean and dry daily, all parts of her upper body. Just because someone doesn't speak, surely if she's eating she's needs to be checked for the toilet DAILY SMH 😔.

I don't think they knew what they were doing and the care was too much for them. They look like children. Being poor and maybe lack of education may have contributed to the neglect of their mother. (unpopular opinion, I'm sure). Some people really live like this, so I am not too surprised.

Yes they do look high, and why was a 71 yr old man supporting his 40+ children and he is still having to work. I bet if they have k😅da they would know how to work the system to get funds from the state. How would a policeman not know how to find resources for his wife, to ask for a social worker to help did what he needed. I don’t understand and call BS. And her attorney just keeps on the same line, they didn’t know, best they could.

Imbalanced 49yr old kiddie hairdo her brother with the Afro. Edward Murray passed Way 3 months after their mother untimely death by her grown folk children. Aug 10 2019 laying in bed never being changed not once and after 6 pm they saw the bone of her ankle sticking out at 8:36 ems arrives sad sad sad how these grown folk adults rarely took care of their mother who no doubt raised them gave them both the best life she saw possible for her kids. She worked hard each and everyday cooked for them fed them meals got them off to school making sure her kids had an education and never went without. Yet these ungrateful adult children of hers didn’t give 2 💩’s about their mom’s health. Shake my head Trust and believe I had a talking with my grown adult kids to not treat me evil when it’s their time to take care of me If and when I reach old age! ❤ Rest forever in paradise Shelia Murray ❤

I have watched carefully, the sister who took the stand was very favorable. It seemed there was a need that overwhelmed the dad about keeping the family home despite the need for nursing home care, and I sense the same with both children. This in my estimation, as the sister said "they were in over their heads", as I can see that from their faces, they seem not to have a reaction accept for the nodding of the head. My heart bleeds for both adults in this trial, and more than likely either was equipped to care for the needs of a bedridden parent, in that father had passed. Personally I did not know u had to give up your home to pay for care. I thought insurance would have taken care of the bulk of the cost along with insurance, I have been educated today on a lot of things.

Not every state - not here in Florida ... that Medicaid requirement varies from state to state. Home health care is super duper expensive ... but it shouldn't be the taxpayers obligation. Family should take care of family. Well, that's how I was raised.

Before my Mommy passed. Her bestfriend since 5 years old and I were fortunate to care for her. My Mommy was 64, her friend, 66, me, 26. We cared for her from sun up to sun down. I didn't have any experience for caring for someone who is dying. Especially my Mommy, that I was very close to. It was heartbreaking. But I did it. I'm so thankful for her friend for being there for us. And Mommy was so grateful. How can these grown ssa ADULTS see their mother suffer this way??? I feel so sad for the mother.

I took care of my mother for 10 years. The 1 time she had to be hospitalized, for something outta my control. The doctors and nurses was so impressed with the way my mom's skinned looked, for someone who was total care. Nurses and doctors came in and was just shocked that I took care of her so well. At this time, it was 8 years in. She never had a bedsore ever. The same way my mama took care of me, was the same way I took care of her when she could no longer take care of herself. This case makes me ill. How could any decent human do this to anyone? Where were the other family members? How could the father allow this? Why didn't he call for help? Something deeply wrong with these people.
