I have a new Brother MFC-l2710dw getting the same error message and same identical scanner gear noise. Curious to know if its the circuit board of if I need to disassemble the scanner and move the scanner belt. The printer is out of warranty.

you can try first to cut a little at the end of harnes(white flat wire connected to scanner and main board)

I try to discharge it for 30 seconds try to unplug the printer and press the power button for 20-30 seconds and power on again. and all goods again

Pwdng need mo lng putulan ung harnes or flex n nkaconnect sa board papnta g scanner po. Or need n palitan ung scanner mismo or ang mas mlala po pwdng main board n, pero mas maigi mag start k e check ung flex

pag labor lng babayaran mo mga 400 to 600 po un dpende sa tech n gagawa plus ung parts pag af po kc posible palit k ng scanner pag scanner nmn po 500 mga ganyan po

Brother DCP L2540dw Boss.

In my brother printer dcpl2520D, the scanner light comes on for a while and then goes off, finally The scan shows Unable AF, power off and on again" error but the motor not running, I installed a new scanner motor and also changed the scanner cable to new one. Agreed, same problem. What will happen

Maybe the laser scanner isa the problem or the worse is your main pcb or main board is deffective

Thanks, But it is not just scanning but printing is perfect, i.e. the scanner is not moving, only the light in the lamp is dim and eventually after some time the light becomes bright.

kc ang scan unable af hnd mo mggmit mag copy at scan pero dpt mkakapagprint k, kc ung scanner ung not working, pero pag nputulan mo n ung harnes nya at gnun prin try mo palitan scanner kpag wala parin dun mo po malaman qng may sira ung board mo pero pagnag pprint prin xa posible n my sira ung board mo n my kilaman sa scanner part pero hnd naaapektuhan an print

@@myrj10 . nputol ko na po sa may flex cable nyu pero ganun parin po ang error. ibig Sabihin po ba ay kailangan na palitan ang board na may connection sa scanner kpag ganito?

Please i have the same issue for my Brother Printer MFC-7360. Do i need to change the ADF as you did in this video ?

Before you change the whole scanner you better follow this video step by step. And no need to change the adf, because the "unable to scan af" error is not about adf problem. It is about scanner problem. Thank you for watching my video🙂

What do you mean of bad or good? Is it about the brand and model? In my personal opinion and base to my experience this kind of model of brother printer is good for document printing purposes.

3 parts can be possible cause of unable to scan af error 1. Scanner flex or harness 2. Laser scanner 3. Main logic board
