+Hannah Barton (Stripe Rainbow) the song talks about seeing through others eyes which is a way to realize why someone behaves in a certain way and when he says great spirits take our hands and lead us he talks about all the knowledge past generations left to us. The lyrics seem to be full of wisdom and don't have anything to do with creatonist delusions

This is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also appreciate the movie`s message that to understand the world you learn best by seeing through the eyes of another, as Kenai did through the eyes of a bear. The song had a deep wisdom in every lyric. A beautifully written and sung masterpiece by the legendary Phil Collins.

Lyrics : When the earth was young And the air was sweet And the mountains kissed the sky In the far beyond, with its many paths Man and nature lived side by side The pretty wisdom does not come without learning And revision not wholly without our eyes We can think that we see Truly see you're around us But when we look Do we see with open minds? Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls with all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides Teach our children to look deeper than the surface See the world through another's eyes For to be blind beyond yourself Is to look but not see it Knowing much is not enough to be wise To see the wonder In all we've been given In a world that's not always as it seems On the path that we choose Turn every corner Follow on for another begins Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls With all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls With all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides See from all sides

This movie and its soundtrack always meant so much to me, I remember watching this when I was young and a few years later when I expressed how much this made me wish I was part of the Native culture my grandmum actually told me I was. She told me that my great-great grandmum was actually a full blooded Cherokee, that my granda could actually remember her. She never told me as there never seemed to be a reason to, I was only a kid, why would where I came from truly interest me, but even as a child of nearly 10 that was the best thing I could have ever been told. Hearing that made my heart swell with pride and adoration of my lineage. To know I was a close descendant to the marvelous culture of the First Nations of America. The people who walked and lived as one with this land for millennia before the Europeans ever set foot on these shores. I’m still so proud of being a close descendant of the Native Americans and I will never let that pride die, and even when I have a child, I want my daughter or son to know just how proud they should be of our ancestors and learn from them. The Natives had so many great lessons to teach, sadly, the European Colonials did not wish to learn. But I do wish to, and I want my lineage to know our ancestors and their ways, to be so very proud of them, and to teach others who our ancestors were.

I greatly prefer Phil's version to Tina Turner's version. It's not that Tina's version is bad, but it lacks the emotion and heart of this version. This is the version that should've been on the movie and I can't believe they went with the other version. This is much more haunting, melodic and catchy.

+EmmanuelleLunada2010 I like some parts of the one in the movie better like "Show us that in your hearts, we are all the same. Brothers to each other, in this world we remain." Phil keeps repeating, "see through another's eyes." But I like some parts of this one better than the other too like when she says "Lived 3 brothers.." makes it very movie specific.

At the very least, they should have put it in the credits. Instead, you have Phil's versions of "No Way Out" (The theme from Brother Bear) and his "Look Through My Eyes." I'm not criticising those recordings, they're great as well, however, yes I would have liked to hear this version somewhere in the film, even as a credit roll. Yet, I'm probably also saying that from growing up with Tarzan and how his full version of "You'll Be In My Heart" is played during the credits.
