BROTHER BEAR (2003) | FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION
Фильм және анимация
I watch BROTHER BEAR (2003) for the FIRST TIME! 🤍
Movie Summary:
Kenai (Joaquin Phoenix) is a young Indian brave with a particular distaste for bears. When his brother Sitka (D.B. Sweeney) is killed by one, Kenai in turn kills the bear, only to be magically transformed into one himself. To make matters worse, his other brother Denahi (Jason Raize) vows to kill the bear Kenai has become. Kenai's only hope is a magical mountain where he believes he can be changed back to a human, and he enlists a real bear cub, Koda, to get him there.

This is based upon an Inuit legend (Alaskan / Arctic Peoples) and the names Kenai, Denali and Sitka are names of places in Alaska from those tales.
i got to say this is one of my favorite movies as a kid, as an adult its still one of my favorites to watch.I feel like its one of the MOST UNDERRATED disney films out there. I cry in this movie every time i see it too. I just cant help it. The meaning of it is truly beautiful, showing that even though we may see the bears as enemies they're also trying to survive and protect their families from those who they view as enemies. Which is us. It shows the importance of protecting nature in a way even a child understands which is a very important lesson to learn

I freaking love this movie. Even to this day it remains one of my favorites. I don't care what anyone says about it underrated. It's freaking AWESOME!
Disney never shows the dead bodies when it’s a violent death since it’s for kids but we have the same theory for tv shows: no body no death!! “Stop telling everyone I’m DEAAAAD” I forgot this hilarious moment the gramma is losing it 😂😂😂 This is one of the BEST Disney movies ❤
5:42 Side note - Kenai is voiced by Joaquin Phoenix. Joaquin Phoenix's older brother was actor and icon River Phoenix who famously died of an overdose at a club. Joaquin was there at the club with River and their sister Rain (yes, those were all their real names, there are two other sisters called Summer and Liberty, they're all vegans). No one else called 911 for a whole five minutes after River collapsed and started having seizures, 19 year old Joaquin had to be the one to make the call and apparently Rain tried to give him mouth-to-mouth. You can imagine what recording the dialogue for this scene was like for Joaquin having lived through loosing a sibling suddenly.
“Brother bear, I let you down. You trusted me, believed in me and I let you down” 😭😭😭😭
Phil collins in every Disney movie just hits it out of the park with his music to put it very lightly 😂
I love the fact the movie changes aspect ratio about a quarter of the way into the film from 1.75:1 to 2.35:1, after Kenai is transformed into a bear. This was done to show that his view of the world went from narrow and closed minded to open and expanded. their was also a so-called "family-friendly" version which keeps an 1.66:1 aspect ratio for the entire film that only someone narrow and closed minded would watch it in.
growing up this was my grandma's favorite disney movie. she sat down with my brother and i down to watch it at least a hundred times, and will still put it on occasionally. it's such a good story and watching it with my brother really made us apricate each other as siblings more. the whole story is how to love your siblings. to care for them, no matter how different they are or annoying they can be, because when you lose everything you'll have them; and when you lose them it'll hurt more than anything.

This was me and my grandma's movie too. We watched it all the time. She recently passed two months ago, and it's been the hardest thing i've ever experienced in my life. Rewatching and being reminded of this movie again brought back so many happy memories of being with her, core memories fr.

ironic that someone with the username @@NoThankUBeQuietcouldn't shut the f*ck up about one grammatical error on a wholesome comment from 6 moths ago.
You mentioned reverse Tarzan and that's just crazy how I never saw that, I totally agree with it
My grandma had the DVD and on the bonus features was a quiz you could take to tell you what totem you got. I and my brother and sister loved taking it. My brother always got the eagle of guidance, my sister got the wolf (of anyone remembers what that one was let me know. I'm thinking determination but i could be wrong), and I always got the bear of love. And the scene of when Kenai watches the spirits of animals move out of the lights is my favorite scene in the whole movie.

I worked at Glacier National Park in Montana this summer for three months and I had many experiences with brown bears! I think my favorite one was when I went to Many Glacier on the east side. The bear was truly just sitting all comfy out in a field in the sunlight enjoying the nice weather. It was so cute … till my tour guide/ friend shared his bear attack war stories…. I still think about them… there’s a good book called “the night of the grizzlies” that you should read if you’re interested in scary bear stories.

The deleted scene where kenai tells koda about his mother's death instead of the song was really good, it should have been in the movie.

This was one of the best Disney underrated movie ever, my sister and I use to watch brother bear when we were kids we still had that dvd of it
This is definitely one of my favourite from my childhood. Watched it over and over again, so I LOVE that you watched it. To answer your questions (though I haven't rewatched the movie in a bit), my favourite character is Koda for sure, but I think I relate to the younger moose brother (if only because of the sequel, since I don't relate too strongly to most of the characters in the movie). I highly recommend watching the sequel as well, even if you don't make a reaction out of it.
Man I got to go to the premiere of this in London when it came out, my uncle was working with Phil Collins on the soundtrack. I was just a little kid but I can still remember it. Love this movie so much

NICE HOMIE!
Loved it. This was one of my favorites growing up. Disney movies like this one and the og jungle book even aristocats actually challenge the audience making it a trip to watch
Most people would have never figured that Joaquin Phoenix was Kenai. It was so long ago.
Haven’t seen this movie in forever. I think the first and only time I saw this movie was when Disney+ came out and it was put on there. It’s such an amazingly great movie. Can’t believe I haven’t seen it until a couple years ago then again I wasn’t born when it came out so that makes scene I guess. 😂 I think you two would like Disney’s 1960s Swiss Family Robinson. It’s really really good too. Love y’alls videos! You both do such an amazing job!
always loved this movie, the music is dope and the visuals and colors are gorgeous. the it always makes me tear up a little at the end when koda sees his mom again :') i really recommend Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron if you haven't seen it before (actually even if you have, wouldn't mind a commentary anyway). it's got a similar feel to this, equally gorgeous visuals, and one of the best scores ever in an animated movie (hans zimmer always delivers tbh)... and it may not have phil collins, but it does have bryan adams. 😁 anyway, enjoyed the reaction!

the bit at the end where koda is reunited with his moms spirit always makes me break
This movie will always have a special place in my heart and it may be my most favourite Disney film of all time, it’s also criminally underrated

Brother Bear is one of favorite Disney movies. Still is to this day I don't care if it's underrated or not. It's always going to hold a special place in my heart💕
This was one of the first movies I remember watching 🤣🤣 great reactions!
I do miss Phil Collin's songs in these Disney movies. Disney movies never felt the same after Phil stopped.
I never knew kenai was played by Joaquin Phoenix also the format for the screen switches when he transforms into the bear
After Tarzan, I was hoping you'd react to this one! check out: The Hunchback of Notre Dame Anastasia The Prince of Egypt The Polar Express A Christmas Carol Ratatouille Shark Tale
Koda is voiced by Jeremy Suarez he also played Jordan on The Bernie Mac Show
Love this one. And Brother Bear 2 is worth the watch as well!!
I know this was posted a good while ago but yeah i been close up to a grizzly cub in yellow stone. My lil bro spotted it and we walked up to the ditch it was in and got in about 15 yards. Didn't stick around to have mama bear walk up tho. Beautiful creatures tho but obviously dangerous so we bugger out fairly quick.
@cagiestnickle72
Жыл бұрын
When i walked up on it it was me and my uncle and it was by accident that we got that close
Don't know if y'all picked up on it, but the aspect ratio changed after Kenai turned into a bear along with a massive color palate shift. The colors became more warm and vibrant, the perspective widened and the animals all gained retinas and pupils, not just beady black eyes. An additional fact is that this was one of Rick Moranis's (Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, Rudolph) last movies that he was in
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out 😅
I live in canada and work on the pipeline in the middle of the rocky mountains, bears just walk across the path keep your distance remember you bear awareness and keep bear spray on you/ mace
28:11 If you gonna ask that question and not give us your own answer 😂 Favorite character Koda and who can I relate to the most 🤔 Idk
I grew up in Juneau Alaska and me my dad, my uncle and grandfather were on a caribou hunt and when we finished butchering our caribou and gottem hung up in the trees we bedded down for the night, around 2 or 3 in the morning in the bush, we hear rustling in the trees, my dad and my uncle went to go check it out with flashlights and in the tree trying to get at our caribou we're see 900lb grizzly, it came down from the tree and started mock charging my pops and my uncle and wouldn't leave which lead my dad to use a 30-30 lever action winchester rifle and put it down, my and my little brother now have bear claw necklaces
Kenai thought he was gonna get a sabertooth tiger totem.
The beginning of this movie is absolutely beautiful and the ending to this movie is absolutely amazing. Everything in the middle sucks. Still has a better soundtrack than Frozen or half of the other movies nowadays.
This is my favourite film, soooo underrated
12:14 Yep. Koda. Like Kodiak bear. Since I believe they are supposed to be Kodiak bears.
I'm surprised you haven't watched this considering Phil Collins did the music

Finally! I love this movie :D
I agree. Disney movies back then are so so so much better than the new ones these days.
Do they not realize that bears can climb trees? So that bear would have gotten to that fish regardless.
You need to start a reaction to one of the greatest TV series of all time"lost". This was one of the most talked-about TV shows ever good morning drive-time radio around water coolers and work. The only TV series where every episode ends with a cliffhanger
Koda's va is absolutely black. Jeremy Suarez was like 12 or 13 I believe when he voiced Koda.
Absolutely fav disney movie with Hercules
