it's fun but this one is more of a survival game like dbd rather than the old hide n seek one. both have their charms but i feel like the new one isn't "windtrace" anymore

Old windtrace was more fun. Didn't expect the generators to ruin the balance of some maps. From my hour of playing, invisible is still broken for rebels. Hunters did get a slight buff with the generators, but hide and seek becoming a bit more team-dependent kinda sucks especially on the Guili Plains map. Ritou went from being a Hunter's worst nightmare to an actual balanced map, so that's a plus. Hilichurl camp is horrible, especially the distancing between the generators and the two glide spot generators on the towers. 2/4 is almost guaranteed unless the players are new. Just like theatre mechanicus, they streamlined it a bit too much, causing it to become boring. Isn't windtrace based more on prop hunt rather than Dead by Daylight?

Yes you can Both me and my friend sat on a bench (we were both hiders) but the hunter (who was chill and chatted with us) said they couldn’t sit. So perhaps only hiders can sit down on benches. And benches only

I prefer the older Windtrace, it was little goofy but that's what made it fun. The current version required real teamwork to win, which will hardly work.

aww, but that is what made it funny. I always like to just stand in the open or on top of things to see if anyone would look up or notice me. This years event looks more like tag or capture the flag than hide and seek.

The main reason coop games in Genshin Impact work is by keeping the engagement at the "party game" level. It's not a good idea to make it too much like a real competition because too much of the playerbase doesn't enjoy that. They're just less vocal than the people who are into that sort of thing.

I loved the old one! Plus, not only was it fun to try your best in blending in, it also sometimes allowed for fun chat interactions

This current windtrace is less about hiding.. which defeats the whole purpose.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of this version. It’s not bad but I preferred the excitement of finding rebels or being hunted without having to fix something. I’m still gonna try and see if characters can still die in the event.

Old version was better. I was super excited when I heard windtrace was returning, but after I heard about their new "updates" to it, I was wary. Needless to say, I played it and... was not impressed one bit by it. Really killed my excitement for windtrace. Thanks Hoyoverse.

I still have fun with this new one, but I’ll always prefer the old one regardless. It was more fun actually hiding and seeing what ridiculous spots you could come up with. Regardless, it would have been better if they’d made this new one a different event since it’s not really prop hunt anymore. Or at the very least mixed it in as a separate game mode that it’ll cycle through.

@@Jade.051 It's cool you can enjoy it, but the simplicity of it originally being a hide and seek game was what made it fun for me. Now hiding is practically pointless because you have to repair a certain number of machines to win the game + fixing the machine alerts the hunter to your location. The whole thing makes it more stressful then fun to me.

I remember this trick when I play as Aloy and I just standing beside NPC at Dawn Winery or Springfield from previous Windtrace event. The Hunter doesn't notice me as they passing in front or beside me. Probably they never meet or heard about Aloy a long time ago.😅

It’s alright the one one was funnier

It feels like rebels just don't have fun in this game anymore. Hunters got the advantage while rebels suffer no matter their efforts. People who never played the old one wont understand how cheap and bad hoyo foiled the event. Most people are not team players they'll quit helping once one node is fixed. At least in the old one you had to be concerned of not getting captured all together. It bloody takes two people to finish fixing a single node and there's six on the field.

I still haven’t managed to get a win by fixing all of the generators. So far everyone either gets out or they choose to fix one and then hide the rest of the game. Since fixing only one still gets the rebels a win. But it’s only day one so hopefully i can match with more skilled players.

I didn't expect I hid for the first match and lost even though I was never found. The hunter even ran over me and the search didn't work. The second round was close I fixed the last generator at the last second as my teammates were eliminated completely.

New windtrace is tiring

I'm new player at genshin and this is my first time trying this event and i think it's so fun, i had a good laugh when the hunter didn't notice me when i was so obvious disguising as a chair on top of the table lol

I've only been playing for a year and a half and didn't catch the first windtrace, so, unfortunately, I have nothing to compare it with but, personally, I liked this event. Although it seems that it is easier for a hunter to win than for a rebel. Also I think it would be more correct to call it "catch-up" than "hide-and-seek" because you spend most of the time in the game running, not hiding.

It feels like your enjoyment of the different versions of Windtrace hinge upon whether you prefer Prop Hunt or Dead by Daylight. 😆

The staggering number of people who do not understand this is the dead by daylight version of windtrace is mind boggling. Each Windtrace has changed things. This one is just changing it from Prop Hunt to Prop Night.

Doors and entrances will work, just use an appropriate character in selected map and idle in nice position

This event was really disappointing tbh… it wouldn’t let me play with a smaller party, and I’ve always disliked games like capture the flag. Probably not gonna play it even for primos..

This windtrace requires less hiding and stealth, and more teamwork and strategy. You see the issue with this? Thats right. A lot of people just arent team players. They just dont do anything and dont even try to help, and theres also campers by the machines, plus the machines take FOREVER to fix. The hunter has more of the advantage, and thats pretty annoying. The old windtrace was fun, and it was actually a hide-n-seek style game. Now were just playing dead by daylight. Its always a game of catch up, and you often have to do ALL the work since your teammates dont do anything! And you cant even play with one friend or two. It always has to be four people. Its kinda annoying. I find hoyo’s “update” of this event be more of a downgrade. Its worse. The hunter barely needs to do any work while the rebels have to suffer no matter what they do! Im pretty pissed at this. And Im sure many of you are too.

what i do is searching for hiding spots. i don't care for the game's true rules. i play by my own rules. if i'm the hunter, i play normaly. otherwise, all i do is hide for the whole game. i managed to find some great hiding spots. i won't say which ones, though. otherwise, a future hunter opponent could learn of them. 🙂

It favors the people who've played asymmetrical games (like Dead By Daylight, Identity V, etc) I legit looped the hunter in the inazuma map (because you can climb on the roof and stuff) for like 30 seconds while they had the location revealing ability before getting captured and winning. It's just a matter of skill ☠️
