As a flatfoot, who tends to benefit from some 'wide platform' support, I like the outsole approach shown around 4:07. Happy to see that footprint becoming more common. I just can't get away with models that get all racing shoe narrow at the midfoot. Also agree that width options are crucial for many of us.

Thanks for the awesome review. I absolutely love the ghost max. I think it's the best shoe in the max category and this I say after staying away from Brooks for 15 years. I would of preferred an 8mm drop and some sexier designs. Really looking forward to other brooks releases that use this particular midsole formulation!

Thanks for watching! We agree, the Ghost Max has definitely found people's feet who have been avid Brooks fans for years as well as those who may have never tried the brand before. Enjoy your pair! 🤝

Are the max cushion shoes good for heavier runners? I have been running in the Ghost for a few years now and the Ghost Max is very intriguing.

Have the Glycerin 20, lookin at Gel Kayano 30, Ghost Max, and NB 1080v 13. Only ones I like that come in all black. Don't know if 1080v 13 comes in 2e all black, other two do. Keep up the great work Josh👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for the informative review! Would these Ghost Maxes be suitable for long walking too? I'm currently trying to pick between these Brooks Maxes, Asics Nimbus 25s, Nike Invincible 3s, and New Balance Rebel V3... would love to get a new pair of comfy sneakers to take on my travels in a month!

@mello2365 Thank you so much for watching! Glad you found the review informative. Absolutely, these would be great for long walking also. They will be far more durable and stable over long walks compared to the other shoes you mentioned. The straight last from the Ghost Max is almost a straight copy from the walking shoe from Brooks called the Dyad! This makes the shoe super stable for walking and when you add the DNA Loft v2, makes for an amazing everyday shoe! Safe travels, Happy Running/Walking

I just bought Brooks 15, I'm a bit bothered by the excess insole in the inner arch of the foot. I have the impression that they supinate my foot a bit and it simply bothers me a bit. Does anyone have an idea what causes this, should I replace the insole or should I adjust it during training?

I believe the stack in the Ghost Max is 39/33

Hi Thomas, Thank you for watching the video on the Ghost Max, we are loving the shoe so far! We also saw this stat from other businesses and KZreadrs and thought we better double-check. The information we received from Brooks stated that it was 28mm and 22mm for the offset of 6mm. Obviously, the 11mm difference is quite a fair bit when considering your next shoe purchase. We believe the KZreadrs measuring the shoe to be 39mm may be measuring the stack slightly differently from the World Athletics standard. The brands in particular must follow this process provided by World Athletics to be compliant so we often read what the brands state, as well as test it ourselves for all our shoe reviews and shoe testing and believe the 28//22mm is the most accurate. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i2ubs7tueJi2nJM.html Here's a link to our video on stack height, if you tune in from roughly the 2:00 mark you'll see how World Athletics measures stack. Hope this helps and happy running 🏃🏽

It’s 39/33 stack height just verified. Midsole is 28/22 however.

@@davidrosenthal5795 100% correct you are. The technical relationship of a midsole and foot is what World Athletics and all brands use as their "stack". While the term is at times subject to interpretation... The compliance of midsole stack is what brands need to measure and present. In the case of the Ghost Max, Brooks HQ measured the shoe as 28/22. A midsole can come up higher on the lateral/medial side however the measurement is taken from the base of the foot (including the sock liner) to the the most furthest point (Ground/outsole) giving the actual measurement of what is under the foot (midsole). The variation to the law is when a runner uses an orthotic. An orthotic in replacement to a sockliner can increase the stack from 4mm to 10mm+. But this is out of the control of brands of course. This is a great conversation and I appreciate you bringing this to the forefront. A midsole's relationship with the foot 99% of the performance outcomes are taken from the experience underneath the body/foot. Measurement of impact and breaking forces from midsole engineering, this is directly related to the runners relationship with the durometer of foam/geomortry under the foot and of course actual stack and drop. Brands will always continue to use wrap around/ups with their midsole engineering to provide the foot a more secure fit/feel and thus improve the ride in a shoe. New way to provide foot stability with less weight. We validate our stack heights with what brands supply us. There are always small variations in all shoes. 1-2mm sometimes more. They are approximate. Brands do the best they can with quality control, but when a shoe (Nimbus 25 for example) is made in more than 4 factories across 2 countries. Subtle variations are to be expected. Other than our discussion on stack and midsole height... How have you found the Ghost Max? What shoe has it replaced in your line up? Happy Running, Josh
